Dante Martin is fated, at least for now, to be a singles competitor. This was a good launch.

Dante always hits his spots. He makes everything look so easy and smooth. And he facial expressions were telling a story.
He had so much emotion compared to most of his other matches. I love it. He is great.

Dante is great but he needs a different finisher, it’s way too dependent on his opponent bumping for it to look good. Because of that, sometimes it looks weak. He also needs a couple of mat based power moves to go along with his high flying offense, like Fénix showed in this match.
2 high-flyers going at it is always a sight to see, kudos to Dante and Fenix for a good match

I used to dislike him but this singles run is helping him a lot. Just wish he would stop with the double rope stuff so much. Less is more
That double backflip onto their feet was pretty damn impressive. Rey is still the king of high flying in AEW but man is Dante itching to catch him.
We need to wait because I think Vikingo is coming soon to have matches in aew.

I simply want to see a *WRESTLING* match. Professional wrestling is not *mainly* Acrobatic flips and shit but my point is , I feel that backflip was unnecessary. I dont see how that backflip in particular equates to "good wrestling"

Saw this live. It was like watching two ninjas in the matrix fight. Absolutely nuts. Phoenix gave his mask to Martin after the match. Huge symbol of respect in lucha libre

Could feel the energy from the ring and from the crowd through my TV. PPV match.

I love the way Rey helped showcase Dante in this. Rey gets the win but Dante gets to look absolutely amazing. Love that he gave Dante that extra second or two to bask in the adulation at 3:17 too. Just great stuff, all around.
This is the best qualifying match for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Fenix & Dante delivered the match of the night. I felt sure Dante was pulling the upset various times. 5 ⭐

He does. Needs to work on his facials a bit. Still comes off like he needs to poop when showing pain or anger but he's one hell of a talent. Incredible to watch in the ring.

Dante Martin may have lost to Rey Fenix, but there's no doubt he put on a hell of a performance. It's a shame that his brother Darrius is injured once again, but I'm sure he is wishing his brother much success as a solo act in his absence. Dante has so much star potential that is seen every week in each performance.
His brother is injured again! Damn. I'm glad that AEW doesn't put both wrestlers on hold while one partner recovers in the tag team.
It's weird to say, but a blessing in disguise for Dante.
It's a shame Dante really doesn't need his brother at this point, which would leave Darius mostly directionless when he does make a full comeback.
These two should have been in njpw’s best of the super juniors tournament because this match was a banger.

Fenix wouldn’t be allowed in it due to his AAA association. CMLL have been NJPW partners for years and to avoid political issues no AAA wrestlers will be allowed in NJPW.
Guarantee the joker in the tournament is Claudio, because Joe vs Claudio would be a banger and it would bring back the feel of old school ROH!

Win or lose, Dante Martin proved himself to one of the best.
Rey Fenix is the best wrestler in AEW! One of my all time favorites and he is still in his prime.
This is the Lucha Libre I grew up with! Thank you Tony Khan and AEW! Respect to the high flyers of the business! Dante is good real good. He would do well to do an excursion to AAA to solidify his aerial skills. That being said! Phenomenal Match! This makes me want AEW to bring in the best up and coming High Flyer in the business today.....El Hijo De Vikingo...the AAA MegaCampeon! Vikingo was insane epic at AAA Triplemania with Fenix vs The Young Bucks! US fans deserve to see a rare once in a lifetime talent like him on Dynamite. As I've said before, AEW and AAA are my 2 go to shows every week religiously. This Dante vs Fenix match just adds to the fact that Tony Khan and AEW love and respect the culture, tradition, and religion of Lucha Libre! AEW 4 Life! AEW Por Vida!

I wasn’t expecting Dante and fenix to get the #1 moment on tonight’s dynamite, but still great match, and Dante is still my favorite young up and coming wrestler today
Dante has turned from boy to man since Darius’s injury and knowing that Darius is out for an extended period with a new injury means this kid gets to grow as a singles star. Super excited for him!

Dante always hit’s Picture Perfect Moonsault no matter wherever he is landing.
The part that probably wasn't televised after the match where Fenix asked Alex for his jacket, covered himself and Dante with it, and he gave Dante his mask, was incredible. So much respect for these guys, they put on a hell of a match.

About the fighters 5-star chemistry, I'm sure this fight will be included in certain lists of the most enjoyable matches to watch, even during advertising, the fighters gave out top combinations. Here is the resounding return of Rey Fenix after injury! Just wow! I love such matches under which you fall in love with wrestling again.
That Destoyer from Dante was super nasty Phoenix went down right on his head. How he's still functioning is beyond me.

the owen hart foundation tournament has given us some of the best matches of the year, great to see this young fellas go at it.
Even with the slight hesitation on the powerbomb spot, the television cast doesn't do this match justice.
This match live was A BANGER. Standing ovation from the crowd. If Dante wasn't made before, this match solidified how freaking awesome he is (and a quick reminder, he's like one of the youngest dudes on the roster. So much ceiling for him!).
And Fenix is a beast.

Also, Rey Fenix vs Kyle O'Reilly is such a styles clash (not referring to him) that I'm automatically interested. *But, I hope that the joker is either Jeff Cobb or Claudio Castignoli.* Another great episode! I always love watching Dante in the ring. Always puts on a great show, I hope too see great things from him in his career
I was there in the crowd for this match. When they cut to a pre-tape promo after this match, Rey Fenix actually TOOK OFF HIS MASK AND GAVE IT TO DANTE, and then immediately covered his head with a towel. That was so cool to see
I highly enjoyed watching the Qualifying Match. I kept replaying the moment where Dante Martin countered The Black Fire Driver into a pinning predicament. These two high-flyers know how to counter acrobatically with impressive speed. I haven't seen any other match like this. Huge ovation for both of these men. That finishing move at the end by Rey Fenix is so sick by the way.
This was an absolute spectacle. These guys have balance and athleticism that's otherworldly.
The way these cats protected each other with the high risk moves was very impressive.

I'm not an huge fan of a Clearly cooperation in the Ring. Sometimes makes the whole match looks like a joke. But that Fenix vs Martin match was really really good, dispite the Top-rope spot.
Every wrestling match takes cooperation. Otherwise, you just have an MMA fight. Savage & Steamboat were CLEARLY cooperating. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t a classic. Brock CLEARLY cooperates with his opponents, otherwise he’d just maul them in 30 secs.
@@Odinson42 yeah, man. I do agree with you. But my point is not about the cooperation, but for the Obvious Cooperation. In which circumstances two guys who are relly fighting will be both oh his feet on the top rope? If they sell this like a contest this kind of thing makes it look bad.
But again, I liked the match. And I agree with you. I just don't think I'm wrong.

I love technical wrestling matches as much as anyone else but I also really love the high flying matches where we see the most ridiculous moves that leaves you wondering how tf they pulled it off. These men delivered on that. Dante Martin is one of the few wrestlers in the world that can hold his own against someone like Fenix in that style. To think he's still so young but as good as he is provides a lot of foreshadowing for what seems like a bright future for him. And Fenix not missing a single step since recovering from his injury is a testament to how great of a wrestler he is as well. Great match overall.

Dante and Darius are going to be something special in 5 years. Dante has grown so much in the past year by being on his own, Darius's injury was almost a blessing in disguise, but only because TK made sure to keep him relevant and not back seat him for the entire year.
