    • @dickJohnsonpeter

      They mean mostly highway miles and it actually makes a big difference. That's of course *if* the majority of the miles are indeed highway. Think a car owned by someone who lives in the country vs someone who lives in a congested city. There will be a big difference in the condition of the engine of those two cars even if they have equal miles. If you don't think that matters, you don't understand engines.

      If a car has been actually driven by an old lady or mom you can expect the clutch to be ruined and the engine to have spent most of its time stalling at low revs (which means it needs a timing belt change for older cars).
      The car my mom gave me for my university years had these things, although it did have ridiculously low miles on it, something like 85.000km (53000 miles) for a 9 year-old car. And my parents replaced the clutch and timing belt before they gave it to me.

    The car is accident-free. Little backstory. In Poland accident = someone got injured (at least 7 days treatment was required) in the collision. So the car might be "accident-free" but might have been smashed here and there.
    Bimmer sellers - top-spec or full option and the car has only heated leather seats, cc and maybe big infotainment screen...like bro you can't top-spec because of some options are one or the other but not both.

    These sayings are the worst. Most of the time I'm looking for a "fixer up" car that needs a little of work. So I can save myself a bit of money. I see a lot of scummy lines being used over and over again. What about these one's;
    - "I'm selling it with pain in my heart" (Dutch saying)
    - "I'm selling it because I just don't have time to get to it"
    - "probably a fuse"
    - "Clutch needs adjusting"
    - "Needs a good wash"
    - "It doesn't have MoT/MoT ends..., but it would pass no problem"

      Z John I desperately tried that! Old lady lived down the street from me with a beautiful 79 Cadillac coupe deville! It was white with perfect white leather interior and a original blue phantom top with 27,000 original miles in pristine condition that she kept in her garage. I offered her BANK for it a she wouldn’t sell. After she died it ended up going to her grandson cause his parents didn’t want it, he put 24 inch rims and a bad quality paint job on it, and six months later he was drunk and totaled it beyond repair and to the junk yard it went.

If it is a Volvo, cousin would be in Sweden, a Peugeot would mean it was bought and maintained in France. Not a lot of Japanese or Korean car have this kind of sales tactic used on them, nobody would fall for it since very few people from Serbia live there.
