After hours of frustration with my new ROAM, including everything published by Sonos, this finally explains the issues I've been searching for. Step one - watch this video. Well done!😊
Unfortunately, Sonos documentation is ridiculously lacking. Everything I really needed to know I've found from generous folks like this who took the time not only to figure this stuff out but to put the information online for the rest of us. Many thanks!
I have 2 Roam’s and I absolutely hate the battery life on them. I also hate how once they are completely drained they take so long to start back up. Maybe this will help with the battery issue. Thank you.
Wow man! thanks a bunch for those tips. Is an amazing speaker but is very annoying when the speaker turns on when opening the Sonos App. Now I can shut it off completely. Peace!
Thanks! Glad it helped! I have been a Sonos customer for years, and honestly was very surprised at how hard this one was to figure out. I hope they improve it with a firmware update at some point.
thanks, helpful video. In my case however my Roam isn't taking a charge after having for one day. It just blinks red until I put on the charger where no lights come on. Its been charging all day and it is still a brick. Sonos is sending me a replacement I hope will work better. Now I will know how to turn it off off which I did not know until I saw your video.
You are not the only one who found this issue. I made another video to address what you are seeing. It might help. ua-cam.com/video/yG4Z_22tNCA/v-deo.html
thanks for this you should contract with SONOS... how do I know if my Roam is fully charged? Can't find it anywhere from the (no help) help department at SONOS
Can you have two bluetooth devices connected at once? I'm thinking about having this for my phone and iPad at work and the work wifi doesn't support peer to peer connections.
How does it behave on a wireless static speaker setup? I want to use mine 98 percent of the time as static kitchen speaker and then 1-2 showers a day it is my bathroom companion. Do I need to cash out for an certified qi charger with a good on off auto sensor so it wont drain every time I just let it sit?
Mine seems to work OK if I leave the voice assistant turned off. Otherwise, it eats battery. I use the base charger plug for it when it sits for a long time.
Problem i have i can never really tell when i turn it on when outdoors. This is particularly difficult on the white as the light itself is white. Id appreciate if their was a sound that notifies you its on as i often turn it off due to the challenge with the single button and the feel of it.

Hello, im the only who find the power button feeling weird ? like sometimes i click and it wont work if im not perfectly in the center of the button :/
Be aware that if your battery dies on your Sonos Roam, it may not behave like you would expect immediately after plugging it back in. Watch my other video to understand why. ua-cam.com/video/u6F8Kp9hBYw/v-deo.html
I’ve watched both your videos on this cause I keep forgetting. I could swear most devices you hold a long time to go into pairing mode, not to turn off. I keep forgetting. They should have just put more than one button on this thing.
Can someone tell me how I know my Sonos is fully charged without going into the app. By the way the app wants to much info that’s why I don’t want to use it
If connected to Bluetooth, sometimes Apple iOS will show you the battery life on Bluetooth devices in the “control center” (swipe down). I haven’t tested this yet on Sonos Roam. Great question.
Ugh, I so regret getting this thing - between not connecting to the sonos app, all these eccentricities, etc. - too complicated for no reason...why can't sonos make this exact same video, btw?
omg i have no idea why they didn't explain this more clearly in the manual/app walk through - thank god you went through all this!
Glad it helped!!!

I’m so glad it helped you! It’s like they don’t want to acknowledge the quirks about how the device behaves. Thanks for your comment.

Thank you. I appreciate how quick and efficient the explanations are. I haaaaaate long videos with a bunch unnecessary stuff
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback!
Good explanation of the battery modes.
Thank you! This is extremely helpful!! I was about to return mine
Glad it helped! I thought the same thing at first.

Thank you for this very clear and helpful video! I'm a new Roam owner, and this helped clear up some confusion for me.
Great! Glad it helped!
Thank You! Now I understand how to use those buttons.
Glad it helped! Will save your battery for sure!!!
Worst user experience in a product ever. So glad for your video!
As consumers it's nonsense why usage of a power button must be this complicated.
Glad it helped!

It really should. Shutting them down fully helps with battery.

Thank you! Thank you! Really helpful and great video, easy to follow 👍

Wow - that’s a shame. Hopefully you are happy with the replacement!! It does sound good when it’s working!

How did u get sonos to do that because when I asked they said I'd have to send mine in and repair it and pay for the postage
Thanks! Wonder why they dont put this in the quick startup guide that comes with the product.
No idea. I had to figure this out trial after error! Glad it helped!!

On the iPhone, you should be able to see a percentage of battery life indicated with the battery icon. Thanks for your comment!
Can you have two bluetooth devices connected at once? I'm thinking about having this for my phone and iPad at work and the work wifi doesn't support peer to peer connections.
The connection info is maintained in the phone or iPad. Both can connect to it.
Thank you. Good video
Glad it helped!!!

What does a green flashing light mean?
The button setup on the roam is soo frustrating and not intuitive and I have to google every time I use it because I forget what means what
It’s a nice speaker but kind of a pain in the ass. Thanks for the video.
Agree! Thanks for your comment!
After 2 tones its still White and not serching….what do i wrong

Battery life in Roam is awful fully charged after using it couple of time in a week time being off its gone to 12%
Hello, im the only who find the power button feeling weird ? like sometimes i click and it wont work if im not perfectly in the center of the button :/
Yes - I notice the same thing. Often feels flat. Other times, if you hit the exact right spot, it’s fine.

I totally know what you mean!

WHY WONT MINE FLASH BLUE.

I know, right? Mine has worked ok. After I figured all these nuances out. Still use it today. But I wouldn’t recommend it to others.
💯💥💥
It's absolutely ridiculous that I have to find a tutorial to know how to turn this thing on
Yup!! Crazy
power button is hit and miss!
Someone read the manual
Worst gui ever :)
This product sucks. Pretty plain sound, runs out of battery everytime and it is super complicated to use.
Agree - I would hope a firmware update could address some of the base issues...
