Seth...THANK YOU SO MUCH, for not only getting behind this whole thing, but continuing to contribute to the legacy of Carl Sagan and the popularization of science.
Very excited that they're bringing the show back! I'd never heard of it before Seth was involved; I think he'll definitely play a big part in bringing the show to some of the younger viewers, especially those like myself who are fans of his other work, but might not have known or been interested in watching the new "COSMOS" otherwise.
I was at planetfest 2012 for curiosity, Seth seemed very genuine during the q and a that his only role in this process of getting cosmos on fox was to bring it to the widest audience. He's really using his success galantly.
I love Ann & Seth both so much, and Carl, Niel, Ann, Bill & Steve have been some of the the biggest inspirations in my life.....Im gonna go watch episode 4 of cosmos right now......peace & love......
It's good to see Seth using his millions for a really good educational cause. Who would have known that his voicing Carl in one of the FG episodes was actually a precursor to this.
I beleive Seth might be the next Jerry Lewis & this is a small step towards being a philanthropist...Jerry(the kid) took up his cause for the human race...Seth is finding his way! I know we will all enjoy watching his career unfold! now entertain us funny man!
"We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces." - Carl Sagan, R.I.P. Science, meet technology. I hope this "new Cosmos" series exploits technology in such a way that it expands the minds of millions, if not billions, of people.
This guy is not the "actual" Seth 😆.. I just can't believe the dude, he keeps poppin' up all across the universe.. climate has officially changed and here can be viewed, in video format, the very seed of our fates absolutely my favorite supermaster of humanity and constructor of all novel and favored realities past and future. To Seth I say, carry on modeling! to us you are golden ✨️
I applaud the idea of educating people on science with COSMOS, but Fox won't let it run for more than a few episodes. It will be a flop because on Sunday nights, people aren't looking to Fox for thought or science. That's why they watch Family Guy. He should have put this on PBS or Discovery.
As a fan of the original show, and a devoted fan of the late Carl Sagan....my only fear about this show is that they have to "dumb it down" for american viewers....the original show, which I watched in prime time, was never condescending, never silly, but I see no other way to present science to the modern public other than making is 2nd grade material. We'll see.
After bill bye, the question was how do you get the history and theories of space to believe the new ideas and progression, so going into space/religion wasn't necessary.
It makes a dent by pushing more people towards the sciences. Isn't that patently obvious? If it inspires a few hundred kids to make the turn towards a career in the sciences, instead of another field, isn't that enough to justify it's worth?
Was just having a heated debate with an idiotic friend who denies NASA ever went to the Moon with the Apollo program. Hopefully more shows like Cosmos on the air that cover hard science will counter the plague of irrational tin-foil-hattery that is rampant nowadays. Absolutely awesome that MacFarlane is a producer on this show. I know they will do justice to the original.
12:00 Peter Muller: "It is ironic if some people treat me as a traitor, since I was never a skeptic -- only a scientific skeptic," he said in a recent email exchange with The Huffington Post. "Some people called me a skeptic because in my best-seller 'Physics for Future Presidents' I had drawn attention to the numerous scientific errors in the movie 'An Inconvenient Truth.' But I never felt that pointing out mistakes qualified me to be called a climate skeptic."
Science and god are entirely compatible and even complimentary for me. It's like my understanding of god gets trapped in a box, and with each discovery, the box gets bigger and bigger. Learning about these huge scientific breakthroughs like the recent discovery of the higgs boson, for example, are profound and even kind of spiritual experiences for me because it's like I am stepping one step closer to knowing god.
So I'm sitting here in norway considering giving a copy of cosmos to a friend at christmas only to find that there is no blu-ray version available with norwegian subtitles :(
Will be writing a letter this evening to Congress in favor continuing funding to the Planet Exploration cause,It baffles the mind that such a genius program could be shuffled under the proverbial rug.3 trillion spent on pointless battleships and f-14 fighter planes, meanwhile scientific organizations such as Planetary Exploration/Space programs are being disassembled due to lack of funding. Please write to your state representative, and to congress to show support,to continue funding our future.
LOL! Love how Seth always finds a way to spice up his serious speeches with a touch of humor.
wow, my respect for Seth just jumped through the roof
never even seen cosmos, i just jump on any chance I get to hear seth macfarlane speak lol
Seth McFarlane is a legend.
Seth...THANK YOU SO MUCH, for not only getting behind this whole thing, but continuing to contribute to the legacy of Carl Sagan and the popularization of science.

Ten years ago. Looks the same. Thanks Captain Ed Mercer! 🤩✨🛸🔥💫
I was at planetfest 2012 for curiosity, Seth seemed very genuine during the q and a that his only role in this process of getting cosmos on fox was to bring it to the widest audience. He's really using his success galantly.
god I love Seth Macfarlane
Lovely. A genius and a giant at his work.
I love Ann & Seth both so much, and Carl, Niel, Ann, Bill & Steve have been some of the the biggest inspirations in my life.....Im gonna go watch episode 4 of cosmos right now......peace & love......
Big ups Seth for taking up the cause.
Man, the amount of jokes that ran through Seth's mind while he listened to the last guy must be over 9000! haha
Seth MacFarlane... *swoons*
It's good to see Seth using his millions for a really good educational cause. Who would have known that his voicing Carl in one of the FG episodes was actually a precursor to this.

COSMOS is the hero Fox needs, not the one it deserves.
Thank you for sharing this Seth talk on Cosmos.
I wish this was longer.
Fuck yes, can't wait. I hope Carl knows about this. He'd probably be stoked too.
Seth McFarlane is my new hero.
Not enough people are aware of Ann's existence (let alone her involvement with the Cosmos).

I hate when people stand up to talk at a Q & A and don't actually ask anything
Seriously...Ann Druyan is Carl Sagan's widow, how can anyone hate on her?
No, she's absolutely fine.
Best thing to happen (be announced) in the whole year! Yaaaaay!
This guy is not the "actual" Seth 😆.. I just can't believe the dude, he keeps poppin' up all across the universe.. climate has officially changed and here can be viewed, in video format, the very seed of our fates
absolutely my favorite supermaster of humanity and constructor of all novel and favored realities past and future.

Perfect 👍🤩❤️
These people give me hope.
Then I scroll down to the comments and lose some of that hope...
1:57 seth starts
The "bitch with a speech impairment" that you so kindly refer to is Carl Sagan's widow, and co-writer of the Cosmos series.
I applaud the idea of educating people on science with COSMOS, but Fox won't let it run for more than a few episodes. It will be a flop because on Sunday nights, people aren't looking to Fox for thought or science. That's why they watch Family Guy. He should have put this on PBS or Discovery.
Neil DeGrasse Tyson is amazing. Seth MacFarlane is amazing. Early 2014 is too long away! BAHH
The lady at the start and end is Ann Druyan, one of the co-writers of the original COSMOS. So... why are fans of COSMOS giving her a tough time?
EVERYONE LIKE SHARE AND FAVOURITE! THIS IS A GREAT FOR THE WORLD!
cosmos is gonna rock this world!!
This is the best news I've heard all year.
Not just that. She is Carl Sagan's wife.
Of course she is! Her late husband spent a good deal of time on the original Cosmos. Give her some credit for being a human being!
Episode 13 is my favorite... So amazing!!!!
I GOT TO WAIT TILL 2014?!
DAMMIT!!!
"Scientists don't kill each other" yes, thank you Ann.
Aaaahhhhh... so cool.
She was also Carl Sagan's life partner
I'm developing a serious man crush.
I can't wait for this
Plz watch from 23:40, that guy summarizes why we should look forward to Cosmos the most!
Can't wait!
CANNOT STOP HEARING BRIAN:O
He's the president of the Planetary Society. This is their channel.
less than a week left
Contact is the best movie ever
Seth need to do all Uranus episode himself....Giggity!!
When it comes to the last question, you can tell Seth is thinking, "Hey dolt, you never asked a question."
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SETH!!!!!!!! XD
Happy 78th Birthday Carl Sagan. Rest easy.
That woman at the beginning was also Carl Sagan's wife...
@ChimeraProd quantum physics have shown that some molecular particles do actually under certain circumstances can jus appear sporadically
Not to mention Carl Sagan's Wife.
After bill bye, the question was how do you get the history and theories of space to believe the new ideas and progression, so going into space/religion wasn't necessary.

Great final question. We need to talk to each other without fighting and name calling.
Was excited until the number 2014 was mentioned.
Was just having a heated debate with an idiotic friend who denies NASA ever went to the Moon with the Apollo program. Ann Druyan is a beautiful woman.
He should have done a giggity when he said "grasped."
She was also Carl Sagan wife.

OMG TEH ENVIRONMENT. *sip of bottled water*
I REALLY hope Seth gets this right. I'll be watching the premiere in March.
People talking shit about Ann Druyan = Major Fail
RIP Carl Sagan
"will handle the jokes if you don't mind.."
Close your eyes and it becomes Brian speaking about science and amazeballs things.
aw, hell, they delayed it to 2014? I thought it was February 2013
Aaand of course, the last question wasn't actually a question -.-
Anyone else think "FUCK YEAH! BILL NYE TOO?!?" when Bill appears out of nowhere?
bill nye out of fucking nowhere!
Omg Bill Nye
perma-baked I think
11:37 I think Seth is in love...
Better to have science and documentary shows than shows authored by those blasted manatees.
HOLY SHIT!!!!!! ITS BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY, so many videos.....
I hope the new show reminds people about nuclear winter since I think most people have forgotten about that.
Welcome to 2022 😳
So I'm sitting here in norway considering giving a copy of cosmos to a friend at christmas only to find that there is no blu-ray version available with norwegian subtitles :(
Totally!
13:49 Oh god.. I felt embarrassed just watching this part
and the stirring planes of Venus!
God her voice. Is she about to cry? This is hard to listen too
your account name compliments your comment well
11:37
Lol when I close my eyes I see Brian from family guy instead off Seth
The number one question is
how does everything come from nothing?
How does this whole fucking world exist from fucking nothing?

Sad thing is, I think it's actually more than 1/3. I think it's more like 45%. Cosmos, save us!
It's a shame her voice isn't as even and mellow as it is in the Cosmos DVD introduction.
would love to see this done by HBO
Yeah okay buddy. Rabbits do not speak.
