to everyone watching, please remember it's okay and beautiful to have lines when you smile, and it's perfectly natural for your face and jaw to be asymmetrical. transparency does not dismiss the perpetuation of hegemonic beauty standards
Yes it's absolutely true that it's normal to have smile lines and asymmetry. This is a personal choice that I made and says nothing about how other people should look or whether or not they should have cosmetic procedures done. Shaming people for making cosmetic changes to their appearance does nothing but encourage secrecy surrounding cosmetic enhancements, which people will continue getting whether you like it or not. I'd simply prefer to not lie about it.
@@bigbooklady asking you and others to think critically is not “shaming” you lol if you are confident in your decision thats your thing. this is about a bigger conversation since you expressed worry about not wanting to promote beauty standards…well, you being transparent does not mean people will not question the broader implications of your actions and how you present them to your audience. it would be another conversation had you admitted with dignity that this choice absolutely contributes to eurocentric, harmful beauty standards. stop with this liberal individualistic “choice” ideology that dilutes critical thinking.
@@bigbookladyTheir comment absolutely does not shame or intend to shame imo. I understood it clearly while also respecting your individual choice/perspective on this. They’ve also explained it perfectly in their comment below. Sharing a broader perspective is not “ shaming”.
I don’t think anyone is shaming you by commenting. Because if they are, then they can go watch someone else’s videos! We’re here because we love you and your content and are impressed with your transparency. But that’s the thing about transparency and secrecy, they’ll both invite conversation. My two cents are you’re gorgeous and that injectables don’t dissolve. My face and ears are so asymmetrical, I’ve always wanted to do something surgical. But the best thing I’ve done is Face Yoga Method with Fumiko. You watch some of her videos and you see how the face has musculature like the rest of the body and can be trained with face-push-ups instead of immobilizing which would prob create more need for more surgical intervention. Thank you for your videos and inviting us along with you!
The pandemic super charged the use of video communication in our business and personal lives. People now spend a lot of time seeing and analyzing their faces, and feeling dissatisfied with their appearance. Add clever marketing of botox, filler and other beauty enhancements and viola a "need" is created.
The thing with cosmetic adjustments is, you are just gonna move on to the next thing about your face to fixate on, once you “fix” the first. I really relate to staring at your talking face on a screen and thinking what the actual f is going on there, but everyone feels this! We are not made for staring in mirrors all day. In my opinion, you have a gorgeous face and those lines gave definition to it when you spoke (when you pointed them out, would never have thought about this otherwise). I do hope you will look at yourself with more kindness after this ❤
I‘m turning the ripe age of 40 in a few weeks time and all around me tweakments and Botox are something my age group does. I once made an appointment to get Botox but I cancelled, as I had a long discussion with myself prior with resulted in not wanting to participate in this trend. I work out, my hair is well maintained and I use all the skincare (sunscreen) and I still look very youthful. I feel good! Of course, I could change a few things, who doesn’t, but I’m not acting upon this fleeting wish. I more so focus on the fact that I’m happy and healthy. Lauren, thanks for your transparency, but you’re so beautiful, inside and out. I wish for you to truly know this. x
Same, once you give in there is almost no way to stop unless you run out of money lol. It is a slippery slope and I don't even like it in most people. I accepted that I will age gracefully and have to work on my sense of humour to compensate for the lost looks.
I think most people commenting who are being critical of Lauren’s decision to get cosmetic procedures would never be critical to an individual for this in real life. It’s usually not fair to hold individuals accountable to a systemic problem. And most people here probably know that. I think the issue is that many of us feel Lauren has to be held to a different standard, which she and others may disagree with. Lauren is a public figure, an influencer who profits from promoting products. On one hand I respect the transparency- maybe it is harm reduction. On the other hand, she has to know that a large part of her engagement and followers watch her content aspirationally. We aspire to have such a beautiful home, a peaceful life, good taste in literature, beautiful clothes, and yes, physical beauty. People click the links she gives out because people want to be like her- that is the core of what it means to be an influencer. She gets comments all the time asking for her detailed skin care routine, makeup routine, how she styles her hair etc. Her face is on thousands of Pinterest boards- her face is on my Pinterest board! So by getting cosmetic procedures done, even though it’s being framed as an “individual choice”, she is promoting it, and thus promoting insecurity. I have never considered these lines on my face by my chin before, now I and many other women have asked themselves if they have these lines. Lines that this beautiful woman we aspire to be like got removed. She also promoted the business that did the service for her. This doesn’t even touch on the ideas that some have mentioned here. that something being an “individual choice” doesn’t mean it is positive or empowering. It especially doesn’t mean that that choice isn’t perpetuating harmful beauty standards. Choices are not made in a vacuum. I would never make a peep about a average person’s decision to get work done but again, this is a public figure posting about it on a public forum. Just because these comments are not all supportive or uplifting doesn’t mean they are shaming. If anyone reading this battles conflicting feelings about cosmetic work or is interested in the politics of beauty x feminist literature i so highly recommend reading Jessica DeFino
I also cant imagine working in a field where virtually everyone else in my field was getting work done. This Botox is so minor compared to what’s normalized among influencers. It’s a really tricky place to be in that no one here probably could relate to
I completely agree. Even though the choice may be personal, it still contributes to perpetuating harmful beauty standards. Normalizing these procedures only increases the pressure to undergo them to "correct" natural features that are simply part of being human or aging. It's honestly terrifying, and it makes me feel like I should become a hermit and disconnect from the internet to avoid feeling like a ghoul for having lines and texture as a 30-year-old woman! Jessica DeFino's work has been a lifesaver for navigating all this and keeping my head above the water.
I don’t want to be the person to say anything about anyone’s choices on what to do and not do on their body, specially if you got any complex, go get your dreams come true… BUT GURL. You’re incredibly beautiful and I for the first time saw you smile with your teeth and ITS CONTAGIOUS. My opinion is very unasked and unnecessary but those smile lines are charming as heck.
Thank you for being transparent! I agree with you 100% about why it’s important to be open about your choice. I also enjoyed the rest of this vlog and that blanket you’re working on is so pretty!
I have to add even though I support women doing what they want for their appearances, it’s still depressing to see how common it is now to get cosmetic changes especially when people are already so beautiful and young. But I do think it’s awesome that you’re being honest so people know it’s something that’s been done.
it's very interesting (at least I think) to question why we feel the need for Botox, fillers and other forms of plastic surgery and go down that rabbit hole to see where it takes us... in my case it would look like this. I don't like my nose, I wan't a smaller nose. Why do I hate my nose? Why do I think a smaller nose would be better? What do I expect from having a smaller nose? To be more beautiful? Why do I feel the need to be more beautiful and where is my personal beauty standard coming from? Why do I want to obey the current beauty standard? Why do I feel like it is not okay to have the nose I have? Because others don't find me attractive? Is that important and am I attracted to people that are superficial? ....you know what I mean, and I can only recommend it to everyone feeling the need to change something about their very uniqe and special features.
This made me sad to watch- she was already so beautiful. Our faces are meant to bend when we smile and laugh. Our perceptions have been so warped by time spent online.
I'm 28 years old, and sometimes I feel ugly when I find out that girls my age are getting Botox injections. I start to think there's something wrong with me because I don't want to remove my smile wrinkles and other imperfections. I'm still too young for something like that. Or am I? I shouldn't feel like that, it's weird. Like growing up and getting older is embarrassing and needs to be stopped
There's definitely nothing wrong with you and the fact that other people are getting botox doesn't mean that you need to follow suit. Do what's best for you☺
I'm in my early 30's and I've not had work done. It's becoming more rare to not have things done unfortunately, wrinkles/smile lines/indentations are human and normal, and it's sad to see everyone morph into dolls. The most important thing is to do what's right for you. There is nothing wrong with ageing, no matter how society makes you feel that way!
Botox etc is not always about looking younger. Just like it’s been explained in the video. People have their teeth done and nobody thinks anything of that. I don’t see a great deal of difference personally
@@74griffo not nobody, veneers culture like in hollywood is actually criticised heavily and its really dumb. getting your teeth done when you have some health problems it's another thing obv.
Thanks for sharing transparently. I just wanted to throw in a perspective as a holistic facialist/ cosmetic acupuncturist on both Botox and fillers that may not be offered by clinics or online research. My personal opinion is that injecting Botox and thereby immobilizing the muscles in an area contributes to increased aging of that area in the long run due to lack of healthy blood and lymph flow, which reduces the flow of nutrients and detoxification, causing the tissues to dehydrate and be undernourished, which results in becoming increasingly wrinkle-prone in the future- ie: you have to keep going back for more botox forever or accept the accelerated aging effects. This won't show for years but then catches up with people. In terms of filler, research now shows that filler never leaves the face, so there is a very real risk of the hyaluronic acid migrating and creating unsightly lumps and bumps over time, as well as blocking good lymph and blood flow. Overall these are not treatments that I think result in the longterm effects most people are looking for. Just my 2 cents- I would highly recommend seeking out a well trained holistic facialist who specializes in facial massage- this work can balance out the face in a much more sustainable way with no potential long term side effects, and increases the blood and lymph flow which are preventative for premature aging. Plus it feels great- no scary needles. I hope this info helps someone thinking about these procedures!
I honestly did not notice those lines at all. And then I went to the mirror to see if I had them... lol. 😬 but I appreciate you being transparent. Immediately I thought it was for forehead lines. You are beautiful Lauren, seriously. I am terribly insecure about my double chin and I wish I was your size. I've always thought your jawline and face shape was really pretty!
It’s such a shame our society makes people feel like they need to change their faces! I understand that cosmetic surgery is 100% your choice, but it’s also worth considering where the need to change yourself comes from. I still don’t really see what you’re referring to, regarding the lines on your chin, even after you pointed it out. I honestly think you’re so beautiful. I know you’ve made up your mind, and you’re probably not going to take on board anything I’ve said cos I’m just some stranger on the internet with an opinion, but what is unique about you is beautiful and should be treasured!
Everyone wants to be the same those lines are beautiful your face not being perfect makes it perfect i hate the beauty standards and i hate that even if you say that u dont need it its more deep when you think abt it like why do you actually want it it’s so sad
I totally understand your perspective of wanting to be transparent, but tbh it's your face and your body and you can do what you want with it and share or not share! I personally find your face to be exceptionally beautiful and never once noticed your jaw or chin lines. If anything it's a reminder to me, seeing someone who is objectively gorgeous have these feelings about her own face, that we're our own harshest critics with this type of thing. But honestly, do what you want to do to be happy and feel confident. I knit the sophie scarf and wear it all the time! it's so fun to see all the knitting and crochet projects you work on. Spending a full day reading sounds like a dream. i'd love to hear you chat about how you got started as a content creator if you feel like including that in a vlog
thank you for your honesty about the botox! i was recently in seoul and was considering jaw botox because of how much cheaper it is there than the us. it wasn’t going to be for cosmetic purposes, but would ultimately have affected the appearance of my jaw in a way that was VERY appealing. i didn’t end up getting it because the cost was still out of my budget, but all of that is to say: i get it!! and thank you for being upfront about it
I really liked your content up until now, but I'm honestly disappointed with this Botox talk. This space suddenly stopped feeling cozy and safe. Like, girl, what lines on your chin? That's ridiculous. I think presenting and normalizing it in this way is "ethically and morally wrong", imagine how many women will now look in the mirror searching for these supposed "lines in the chin" after watching this
Lauren every time you talk about a book I make it a point to find them and either listen to or read them . Thank you for all your recommendations and please don’t ever stop……PS I love Joni too!
It's a bit crazy that no one ever talks about bruises after fillers etc. I was so surprised at how bruised and swollen my face was after hyaluronic acid and how long that lasted! Another thing I wanted to mention is that the receptionist at the clinic asked me if I'd ever had fillers before, and when I said no, she said that it'd be a new experience for me. I never considered changing my face to be an experience in itself, but it definitely was (not sure if I'll repeat it, but I also don't regret it). Thinking about it this way helped me to feel better about the fact that I did it and feel less shame as a person who's always considered themselves and (I believe) was considered a 'smart girl' who doesn't prioritise looks so much and is aware of beauty standards and so on. I know that only makes me feel better, because it lessens the psychological dissonance, but whatever, we'll die anyway, my face looks normal, I feel a little bit better, and no one was hurt.
You’re valid in your choice to get Botox but please research the long term effects and risks of such a procedure. Love your content and, in the nicest way possible, I fear you’re thinking about yourself too much
I started binging your content when I was going through horrible Venlaflaxine onboarding. Your videos were the only thing that gave me a sense of relief from this. Now me seeing we take the same med at the same dose, I feel so seen. I'm 1,000% better now, but thought you should know the impact your videos have on people. Thank you 💜

If you're self-conscious about the bruising you should use a blend of orange & yellow concealers. Then put your foundation on top to make the neutral color less. I do this with my hormonal acne and works like a charm
Something about you is sooo attractive - your aesthetic, vibes, how you look and behave. Every video like a lil episode of cozy tv show. It is crazy that we have some insecurities that are not visible for others, but I guess it is just the way we are, it’s hard not to notice something you live with all life, so maybe it’s okay to do injections to feel better about yourself? Thanks for honest reaction about this❤
@@bigbooklady I made a much longer version of the Sophie scarf a couple months ago and it has been absolutely fabulous this winter, although its not as cold here as Winnipeg lol.
thank you for being open and honest with us 💗 I think it’s impossible for any of us to say we aren’t affected by beauty standards at all, even those that are self-imposed. You are an absolutely beautiful being in my eyes, but as a viewer, I don’t live in your head and see what you see. If this choice is making you happier, and giving you a more fulfilled life, then that’s what’s important. I appreciate you sharing with us, since it is something that other people may not inherently know, but you are beautiful regardless, your discretion about it is just an appreciated statement to go alongside it. I find it funny too, since a lot of us undergo much more invasive procedures to look closer to some standard (ie braces). This is really minor and more for you imo. Happy for you
Braces are not more invasive than an elective black box label pharmaceutical procedure that paralyzes your muscles. Also, please remember when injectors were saying that filler dissolves 8+ years ago, and now we know that it migrates. This is capitalism at work, and it's not in the business of health, confidence or honesty. It's here to prey on insecurities and create new ones, so that it can continue making money.
Idk in what way braces are more invasive than botox. Also, braces are often done not to maintain standards but because the way teeth grew made it not healthy in the future (or in the moment).
@samesylviaplath there’s some elements of surgery and cosmetic correction involved. I had braces done for cosmetic purposes but I have loved ones who’ve had them done for medical purposes as well (or not had them at all, it’s really a case by case situation). Botox has been used for both purposes as well, and normally does not require these surgical elements such as tooth extraction, jaw realignment surgery or correction mechanisms, or the prolonged soreness that braces cause, in addition to wearing a retainer for the remainder of your lifetime. While it can be invasive, Botox is less so than some of the other interventions we use to “maintain beauty standards” and still functions for both cosmetic and medical benefits. I know some people get Botox to help with headaches and nerve issues, among other things. I hope this doesn’t come off as argumentative, but this is where I’m coming from. Ultimately it can be a pretty minor intervention compared to other cosmetic and medical procedures.
Thought I would drop a positive comment here. My spouse found your channel a couple weeks ago, and it has been on nonstop. My spouse has had cancer the past 3 months, and they love your videos, and they find them comforting and entertaining. So, thank you for vlogging your life, and sharing part of your life with the world. It’s having a positive impact. Keep it up.
Shocker! Real faces have lines. I know crazy right. I laugh that most men never ever think about this and yet a young beautiful woman feels the need. Just so weird to me. I hope this makes you feel better about yourself.
been watching ur vids for months now. i've always thought that you're extremely beautiful. ur facial aesthetic combined w/ ur demeanor gives me greek goddess vibes. anyway, thanks for the transparency!
I have been trying to write this comment for a while. But honestly who cares about what other people think about why a person does something. Choice isn’t a bad thing. And I think oranges are not the only fruit might be my next read
I'm really interested in your decision to get botox, and I actually would love a video talking more about your thoughts and feelings on cosmetic surgery in general, and what your thoughts were about it before doing social media as your job - have they changed? - and whether you think it's something you'll continue to do... you always have interesting perspectives on things and you're very well-read, I'd be interested in a deep-dive. I hope you're okay xx
I also had (still have lol) the uneven jawline and masseter botox has helped with that a lot! Basically botox in your jaw muscle to reduce the size of it and release the tension it holds, which helps folks with TMJ like me or those who grind their teeth due to stress, in their sleep, etc. Might not be your case, but just want to share since I completely relate with what you were sharing and in case it's helpful! Thanks for being transparent about these things - if injectables, procedures, etc. make women feel better about ourselves, then fuck yeah. Hate the game, not the player lol.
thanks for being so transparent. I grew up surrounded by talk of cosmetic procedures (my dad is a non-surgical cosmetic dr.) and I still don't know how I feel about it all as a late-20s woman. but as some comments have echoed, there are so many more constructive, kind gestures we could be doing to support women than bash one's choice of having a treatment done.
hmm… i have a question: will you tell before every video that you have made some botox injections?? because the unrealistic beauty standard lives further if you dont tell your unadressable audience in every video, instagram or tiktok post … or am i wrong??
@ no not, but getting botox is connected to problems in your face. extencions are no nerve poison, which botox is. in the end i criticise that it seems to be a transperent action, which cant be fulfilled in the future (as i said she wont say this in every post she makes igg)… For me it was just a reason to think further and stop my subscribtion eventhoug i rreeeally was amazed by her content.
I love how we live in a society that pressures women to look young at all costs and then have the audacity to criticize anyone or make people feel shamefulfor getting work done. And telling people they're beautiful without it isn't always a helpful comment. People are allowed to address their own insecurities if they have the means to do so. We all have insecurities. People love acting like they're superior because they claim they would never get work done. Why can't we just let people live?
These comments are not it! I usually don't comment but I wanted to be a positive voice in here. There is nothing wrong with getting botox or fillers, and I fully respect your decision, not that you need anybody's respect in the first place! You do whatever you want to do! I admire you for your honesty and I love you and your videos so much
Absolutely none of my opinions matter to you or most viewers To me, you are beautiful... I'd go to say classically beautiful. Im an artist, so I see things in shapes and forms. For whatever that is worth! Nothing is or can be the finished or best version outwardly speaking, in my opinion.... Internally, I feel that there's so much more potential to grow. Just my opinion. That's not fact. Of course, do whatever makes you feel at ease with yourself - its your body and life. Im viewing your videos as I like your vibe and content . I just wanted my pennys worth of a comment to say I see you for your deep beauty and authenticity - regardless of filler injections. I love your videos. Their cinematic views and atmospheric sound scapes give one a sense of more... and space to wonder. The world offers so much more if only we'd look... and seek. Exploration of the mind, body, and soul is a journey for us all... universally. Im here as a silent ( up until now) passenger as I go about my daily life... Stay well - you are beautiful regardless ❤
I appreciate your transparency, it's honestly one of the things I have such troubles with is not knowing that the beauty women have is partially crated/bough, it makes women feel worse to not know. I think you are absolutely beautiful, and have never noticed any of the things you see as flaws and think character makes a person, but still appreciate the share, and your lovely content in general.
you’ve obviously thought this through and are comfortable with your decision. the negative comments on your actions with YOUR body are honestly kind of disappointing
Hi Lauren, I’ve been here since some of your first uploads and never comment but just wanted to say thank you for sharing your life with us. All these negative comments are not it. It’s your body and you can decide what you want to do with it, that’s not any of our opinions! Anyways keep doing you, we love it🩶
there aren't 'negative' comments, being critical or giving feedback is not negative, it's an important contribution to the bigger conversation about beauty, which is nothing but good.
@kcltube3I agree it’s important to have these convos but some of these comments held shame and I wanted to thank her for being transparent with us when a lot of influencers aren’t
I live in South Africa where my community besides work people is mostly made up of black people. Botox is generally not a thing for us so I honestly wouldn't have noticed. But I understand America and whiteness functions differently so maybe people in your online community would have noticed. But I find it silly that you live in a world where you have to tell us. It's honestly your business unless you're intentionally being deceitful, then I don't see the reason to share cosmetic stuff you do to your body. Hope you were fully comfortable sharing with us, I'd hate to watch anything you feel coerced to share. ❤
I just love your videos. So much intention and your authenticity. I admire your bravery to share who you are and what makes you happy. I celebrate you ❤❤❤
Some of these comments are wild. Let people do what they want with their own bodies, it’s literally that simple. Been a viewer for the last year, and your videos always bring me calm and peacefulness, this vid was no exception. Thanks for what you share, and for what it’s worth, I think your transparency about this journey is really cool and brave. Stay warm!❄️
I’m not a fan of botox and didn’t notice the lines before you even mentioned them but I also know I have some very small things that I really dislike on my face and body and would get them done without a second thought if I had the means so I also get where the decision is coming from and as long as you’re happy who are we to judge (ps watching this while learning how to crochet)
the ppl shaming you for your decision are the same ppl who would shame you for not saying something! also had no idea that botox left bruises like that? thank you for being transparent 💗
@@samesylviaplath i agree that it doesn't erase the problem but i also don't think criticizing an individual for getting work done is the same as criticizing the structures that exacerbate & profit off our insecurities. ideally, no one would feel compelled to change themselves but i don't think we can ignore the reality that some people may feel this way and make the decision to get botox, surgery, etc. personally, if i was feeling insecure about something and people told me that i shouldn't be insecure about it or criticized my desire to change it, it would make me feel worse about it. i think being understanding and contributing to an environment where people continue to feel comfortable sharing their feelings might allow for more discourse about the larger themes that many of us seem to be concerned about (beauty standards, patriarchal structures, etc.). just a thought. also i like your username 💗
Honestly, I am surprised at all the judgmental feedback in the comments, but I guess you can't please everyone. People would be up in arms if you did not address your cosmetic procedures. As someone who has had multiple surgical cosmetic procedures done (and I am only 22), I appreciate and admire your transparency. I am always open and honest about the procedures I had done to my face because they made me more confident!!! I do not think we should hide that!! Also, I agree that it feels wrong to pretend to not have had anything done. I think you are beautiful both ways, but confidence creates the most beauty in someone, so I believe you should do whatever you want to feel beautiful. Plus, botox and filler are not permanent! You can always change your mind- except I think you look great! Don't feel pressured to undo your procedures because people in the comments can't keep their unsolicited opinions to themselves.
Thanks for being open and transparent about the work you've gotten done on your chin. You're beautiful without it, but it is totally your decision to make and it's unfortunate that people like to come here and shame or police people and what they do with their bodies. It's fun to see your craft projects! One of my friends just got into knitting, now I'm wondering if I should try it too. 🤔
I appreciate you sharing this controversial decision with such vulnerability. Also, I find that using a yarn needle to join granny squares is much easier.
I have botox! Botox isn't a moral failing. It's okay to want to look better or different. We all do it, all the time, in all kinds of ways. I'm sorry, Lauren. We love your videos.
If the procedure makes her feel better and more confident, why are you so mad about it? it’s her life that she shares bits about and it’s her decision ❤ She hasn’t done anything crazy
I’ve been having Botox for over 10 years (since I was in my late thirties) I always have a very natural result from it and I’m grateful to be in a position to have it 🤷🏻♀️ Your body, your choice 😊
girls, please use face massage, sport, have quality sleep, healthy lifestyle in general to be beautiful not special procedures and our faces are asymmetrical, it's the nature choice (but if face muscles lost their shape, you can prevent it yourself doing special massage)
Some of these comments are pretty cruel. Yr literally just one lil guy in a universe of unfathomable scale. Live yr damn life ❤ I personally didnt know ppl who get injections got bruising dispite seeing botox done (like on reality tv, etc) several times in the past... So hey, I learned something from this!
i’m so sorry for all the negative comments on your video… it’s your body and you should be able to do whatever you want with it. i love your videos and i’m glad you’re doing well! sending you and Joni love! 💛 also best of luck with your knitting, i’m working on a sophie hood as i’ve knit 3 sophie scarves :)
The sense of Botox is stopping the development of the wrinkles, so if it's bothering someone, why not. I know I have predisposition to have a very large and deep inter-brow wrinkle with age, so I suppose I will do Botox till 30 just to stop it, because I don't want to see it on my face. Sure it depends on your feeling and choice, sure it could be dangerous, so think about it, but no judgement, and it's not about beauty standards at all, but about how a person feels more comfortable.
To people saying don't get botox, or saying that her getting botox is promoting unrealistic beauty standards... ya'll are crazy. This is a PERSONAL choice that Lauren made herself. nobody should judge. If you think getting cosmetic procedures are "being brainwashed by the society's beauty standards," then don't get them lol. what are you to judge other people's thoughts and values. It's hard to dismiss the beauty standards when it is so rampant. Everyone has insecurities and if you can, you would want to fix them. We all are human, and we see things that we don't like when we look in the mirror. It's absurd that people are shaming(which they're denying) an individual for this. I feel like people being critical about these decisions individuals make are being more harmful than the beauty standards they claim are so bad. Lauren, please note that lots of people love you, and we don't judge you for the decision you made. It's completely normal.
What a shallow perspective. I enjoy Lauren's content too but to be so dismissive of the beauty standards we women and girls are expected to adhere to as you are in your comment, is delusional and naive and frankly pickme-ish. These personal choices aren't merely personal choices, they aren't made in a vacuum and they actually have impact on others. Especially the personal choices made by people who make a career out of being on camera and selling a certain lifestyle to their viewers.
@@sweetprison I agree that it has an impact on others. I've experienced it many times and I too am a victim of the impossible beauty standards of the society, as we all are. and it is a topic that needs to be discussed. However, there is a time and place for those kinds of discussions. Criticizing an individual on a personal vlog that was meant to be vulnerable and transparent just is a pointless attack. It's ironic that people like you and the others commenting shit about her say you "stand up for women" pretending you protect women from these beauty standards, are pulling other women down with other words and ways.

I think it takes a lot to be transparent about stuff like this especially in this day and age. I think people focus to much on the idea of cosmetic enhancements as something to push individualistic ideology but it could just be about your perception of yourself. I do not see an issue with minor cosmetics when it comes to doing it for yourself to make yourself happy. Like fixing your teeth, dyeing your hair, and so on making alterations to yourself to build your own confidence up or just be happy with yourself. Self love is nothing without actually loving yourself no matter how you get to that point.
take it from me, this is why you should keep it to yourself if you are gonna get cosmetic procedures because people are gonna pass judgement regardless, protect your soul

to everyone watching, please remember it's okay and beautiful to have lines when you smile, and it's perfectly natural for your face and jaw to be asymmetrical. transparency does not dismiss the perpetuation of hegemonic beauty standards
💯 and character is what makes people unique and beautiful
Thank you for your videos and inviting us along with you!
i actually believe that these lines on your face/anyones face, is really beautiful. i like them alot.
Why does everyone think they need Botox????!!
brainwashed by society's beauty standards:(
The pandemic super charged the use of video communication in our business and personal lives.
Is that important and am I attracted to people that are superficial? ....you know what I mean, and I can only recommend it to everyone feeling the need to change something about their very uniqe and special features.
legit crocheting a sophie scarf while watching this and then you mentioned making one! love that all the yarn girlies are on the same page haha
@@74griffo not having visible lines is actually rooted in anti-aging standards of beauty.
I think presenting and normalizing it in this way is "ethically and morally wrong", imagine how many women will now look in the mirror searching for these supposed "lines in the chin" after watching this
I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm happy that I decided to share this information rather than lie about it.
The yellow walls in your kitchen is so cute
Lauren every time you talk about a book I make it a point to find them and either listen to or read them . Thank you for all your recommendations and please don’t ever stop……PS I love Joni too!
That makes me so happy!
I restarted the Sophie scarf soooo many times
I so appreciate the transparency about the Botox. Thank you for being open and honest ❤
You're so welcome! I hope it was informative
Love your content and, in the nicest way possible, I fear you’re thinking about yourself too much
I've done my research and feel very confident in my decision😊Thanks
@@bigbooklady.... but you didn't know the bruising would be bad? 🤔 how much "research"?

@@samanthad5189this. 1000%
Speaking of needles it is wild what a difference bamboo makes! Also the Sophies are so fun and cute!
I'm so sorry to hear you feel the need to get botox / filler
been watching ur vids for months now. i've always thought that you're extremely beautiful. ur facial aesthetic combined w/ ur demeanor gives me greek goddess vibes. anyway, thanks for the transparency!
I've just came across your channel a couple day ago and I instantly fell in love with it
I have been trying to write this comment for a while.
Expressing disappointment isn't bashing. The critical comments I've seen have been very respectful
You do you!! Beautiful no matter what! Glad you’re doing something that you feel good about:)
I am inspired by the images from your walk...I would like to visit Winnipeg one day, can you talk about your city a bit? Thanks from BC❤

hmm… i have a question: will you tell before every video that you have made some botox injections?? because the unrealistic beauty standard lives further if you dont tell your unadressable audience in every video, instagram or tiktok post … or am i wrong??
THIS
This is so unnecessarily dramatic. Did you have similar expectations of her to make a disclaimer before every video when she had hair extensions?
@ no not, but getting botox is connected to problems in your face. extencions are no nerve poison, which botox is. in the end i criticise that it seems to be a transperent action, which cant be fulfilled in the future (as i said she wont say this in every post she makes igg)… For me it was just a reason to think further and stop my subscribtion eventhoug i rreeeally was amazed by her content.
thank you for vulnerably sharing insights into your sweet little world! you feel like a safe space for so many people.
So excited for this ❤
The way I scream and kicked my feet, when I see you have a new video ❤
was having a really bad day due to work stress. Took a short break made tea, watched this vlog and it really calmed me down. Thank you so much.
These comments are not it! I usually don't comment but I wanted to be a positive voice in here. There is nothing wrong with getting botox or fillers, and I fully respect your decision, not that you need anybody's respect in the first place! You do whatever you want to do! I admire you for your honesty and I love you and your videos so much
Absolutely none of my opinions matter to you or most viewers
To me, you are beautiful...
Stay well - you are beautiful regardless
❤
I appreciate your transparency, it's honestly one of the things I have such troubles with is not knowing that the beauty women have is partially crated/bough, it makes women feel worse to not know. I think you are absolutely beautiful, and have never noticed any of the things you see as flaws and think character makes a person, but still appreciate the share, and your lovely content in general.
you’ve obviously thought this through and are comfortable with your decision. the negative comments on your actions with YOUR body are honestly kind of disappointing
Not just needles in your face but TOXins.
This is sad
Girl ! Get it done ! Stunning with AND without Botox. If it makes you happy why the hell not 🎉
Don't do it. The fillers and the botox. You are very beautiful as you are. Your face will change.
Just got to the book part 😅 we reading the same book. Loving it as well. 😊
I just love your videos. So much intention and your authenticity. I admire your bravery to share who you are and what makes you happy. I celebrate you ❤❤❤

where is your sweater in the Bellessa ad from? it's soo cute!!
Love this! Thanks for sharing so openly. Can’t wait to see how your Sophie scarf turns out!😊
the ppl shaming you for your decision are the same ppl who would shame you for not saying something! also had no idea that botox left bruises like that? thank you for being transparent 💗
cause our choices are not made in the vacuum, being transparent about it is the least someone can do but it doesn't erase the problem.
Excited to see the before and after. Definitely give us an update!
18:02 has jony been watching saltburn?
This comment made me laugh 😂
I’ve been having Botox for over 10 years (since I was in my late thirties) I always have a very natural result from it and I’m grateful to be in a position to have it 🤷🏻♀️ Your body, your choice 😊
Waaaait, what is happening with the ‘gruel’ 😂 is that olive oil?!
Thank you so much for uploading, this video felt like a hug on a sad day 🫶
girls, please use face massage, sport, have quality sleep, healthy lifestyle in general to be beautiful
not special procedures
and our faces are asymmetrical, it's the nature choice (but if face muscles lost their shape, you can prevent it yourself doing special massage)
Some of these comments are pretty cruel. Yr literally just one lil guy in a universe of unfathomable scale. Live yr damn life ❤
I personally didnt know ppl who get injections got bruising dispite seeing botox done (like on reality tv, etc) several times in the past...
Herkese sevgi dolu hayat dilerim 🥲
