Whimsical Zentangle Christmas Trees

- This was a live Zoom class with two students, so feel free to fast forward as needed. The idea for the whimsical trees came from a post that I found in Pinterest. I drew the trees, filled them with Zentangle patterns, and then colored them.
Supplies you’ll need:
3.5” or 4” white tile
Micron pen 01 black
Gold GellyRoll pen
Watercolor pencils and/or fine tip markers
Graphite pencil
Tortillion or blending tool
The patterns used in first tile are:
Muchnin, Printemps, Flux, Betweed, and Ahh, Striping, Knase, Shattuck, and Knightbridge (All from Zentangle HQ)
Patterns used in the second tile are:
Nipa and Purk (from Zentangle) and Cake by Janis Wang, CZT.

Hello Barbara. Love these trees. When you finished did you spray with a fixative so that the graphite wouldn't rub off? Thank you!!
Hi Teri! Sometimes I use a fixative on my tiles if they will be handled (like on a Christmas tree) but I don't think I sealed the one from the video. I use Krylox fixative and it seems to work well. Have fun! :-)

You can do it! The nice thing about the Zentangle method is that you have all the steps to follow to help you learn. No artistic ability required! I loved it from the beginning because it helped me relax. My first tile was not great, but with practice I've gotten better. I started with the book "One Zentangle A Day", which helped a lot. Don't give up! It's warm here in Houston too - I love it that way.

LOVE these tiles and inspirations! I am getting ready to start my xmas cards combining water color and tangling this year!!! I LOVE everything about your channel and wonder why someone wouldn't!!! I don't think you can improve anything on your channel, it's perfect....no pun intended...LOL. I love how you “enjoy” your own zentangle practice! I like it that you laugh when you make a “mistake” and you make everything so clear and easy and so often you include the step outs when you are including a “new to me” pattern. I watch every video of yours that I can find.

Me too. I m doing this again this Christmas. I drew this on a greeting card for a nice colleague who drew cards to me during work from home periods. I love it. How fast time flies.
