    The king tiger got about 500 kills for 47 losses during the war, however most of the losses were due to the tank being abandoned due to mechanical failures, fuel shortages, etc.

    Tiger II was actually the heaviest production tank ever made. It weighed 68.5 tonnes, compared to the 67.6 tonnes for the Abrams, and 62.5 tonnes for the Challenger 2. Whilst tanks like the Maus were heavier, they were never put into full production.

      @@gavinknott4602 Jagdtiger is a tank destroyer. Not a tank.

      @@MansMan42069 that's fair so I guess going off production "tank" thing that might not work. More or less it's the heaviest armored vehicle ever produced. Plus it's a slippery slope bc a lot of people refer to the jagdtiger as an SPG.

      @Certified Brit A Bren carrier is armoured and has a gun too. It's also a tank?

    • @Lehr-km5be
      @Lehr-km5be 3 роки тому

      @@marsnz1002 Nope. A general definition of a tank is that it must have tracks, gun capable of firing shells (which generally should be a gun and not a machine gun, but some interwar tanks were still equipped with machine guns and should still be called tanks so we could skip that point) and a turret capable of rotating 360 degrees. Universal carrier does not have a turret and as such can not be considered a tank.

    IF I had the money to do so, I would build fifty of them, and then using magnet skullduggery make it so I could proxy them into Warhammer 40k games as replacement Leman Russes, while also still being usable in Blot Action and other historical games.

    if only he knew that all he had to do to find what the jousting knight insignia went to, was look at the FOW dice kit on the shelf.

      Military History Visualized (a youtube channel) might have the actual production numbers on them on his German Tank Production video.

      Ferdinand Porsche designed a heavy tank that didn't get accepted by the German high command( VK4502 -P ) , he was so sure it would be given the green light , 50 so called Porsche turrets were made for it . They ended up being used on the Tiger II but were replaced in production by the Henschel turret which eliminated the shot trap of the Porshce's curved turret front plate which caused rounds to deflect down through the driver's roof plate killing the crew

    These tanks look much better than a lot of Warhammer 40K IG tanks; in fact you could probably proxy the IG tanks with Konflikt tanks with some tweaking

    Not to be 'that guy' but the heaviest operational AFV the Germans put out was the Jagdtiger, weighing in at 71 tonnes. That aside, it would be one big game to field the King Tiger Zug!

      he did say battle tank

    • @MrCoolguy425
      @MrCoolguy425 7 років тому

      Nekro117 well technically the early production maus was “operational” just it couldn’t turn its turret ;) and “battle tank” is not a proper term. The first “main battle tank” was the panther which was classified as a heavy tank by other nations and the king tiger is well known as a heavy tank

    Not to be stickler on details, but everyone makes the mistake of calling it the Porsche turret when in actuality Porsche had nothing to do with it. Hitler did give Porsche a chance to create a Tiger II and one of his versions had a rear mounted turret. Another version of the Tiger II by Porsche had a different suspension system and other details. The so called "Porsche" turret was actually a production turret of the vehicle. The reasons why the production turret was not used was because of the commanders cupola. It was too time consuming to shape it. And the biggest issue of all was that the mantlet was curved and created a shot trap the would ricochet an income shell downwards into the thin roof of the hull an mess up the poor tankers inside.

    I have been looking at Bolt Action and it looks fun. Would it be a good game for a first time miniature war gamer? Or should i look at something easier and what would that be?

      Boltaction is rather simple, Get a starter kit (Band of Brothers or Downfall) and a few other units. You could checkout the rule book 1st, to see if you'd enjoy it.

    Mildly disappointing that the zimmerit is sculpted on; I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to produce an aftermarket kit like the ones available for Tamiya kits and give us the option of having none :(

    Yugoslavia got U.S. Aid after the war cause Tito had a huge argue with Stalin, we were at the outbreak of a new conflict. So we've got loads of Shermans, hellcats, pattons and so on plus soviet t34/85 tanks that we had from the end of the war. During late 70s the relations with USSR started again so we produced licenced built t72's named M84's which were much better and you could say upgraded versions of t72's. We exported tons to Kuwait and so on. During the war in the 90's we still had in reserve bunch of ww2 U.S. vehicles t55's and ofcourse m84's. Serbia still has t55's in reserve and a finished project for modernization if that's ever needed.

    There was no such thing as a 'zug' on the battlefield blokes. If you could get one to the frontline then it was a good day for the germans.
