*If you want to know what happened to my eye, make sure you watch long enough in the video lol.
Adam the woo reference, nice.
I was wondering about that. I was wondering, "Does that dude have a black eye, lol?" 😅
Wow. Bless this pre-covid footage.
You look young for a granddaughter, but if you start early i guess
@@katemorgan4690 - No offense to anybody is intended, but he sure does look old enough to be a Grandfather! The *average* age of first time Grandfathers is 50, and he definitely looks 50. But even if he's in the mid 40's that's not young to be a Grandfather, considering that the kid will be pretty young still. Now if he was 32 or something, that would be pretty young to be a Grandfather, but he absolutely looks like he's close to 50. Sorry if you were just trying to be nice, but I hate the whole pretend someone looks younger than they really do thing for some reason :P
A loooooooooonnnggg time ago, I was one of the first employees to work at this Rax location when it opened in 1984. The building was built then, also, just as it sits today. Yes, there was a salad bar in the center of the dining room. I was the salad bar closer. Thanks for the memories!
Damn
I’m sorry
I literally just found out about Rax 15 minutes ago and now I'm looking for any excuse to drive to Ohio LOL. This video brought me so much joy.
I just discovered them today as a random UA-cam recommendation. I have no memory of this place from the 80s, they must have never made their way up to New England. I'd probably give it a shot if I was out in Lancaster!
🗣 ROAD TRIP!!!!!!
I just watched a guy with a blackened eye tour a Rax. This is art.
I’m here getting joy out of watching a man flip over a piece from his past. Lol I know the feeling.
Rax is stuck in the 80s and I love it they should never change it. I ate there once on a road trip and it was the best fast food I've had. Wish they franchised out more
Rax's No, 1 fan. Someone loan this guy a couple million and he will revive the eating experience that was Rax to its lost glory.
I used to work at a Rax in about 83. I loved working there because of the friends I made and the fun I had working there. The BBC’s seem smaller. I was the guy that pretty much did everything there. I was 18 so they let me run the slicer. I remember going into the refrigerator and grabbing a huge chuck of iceberg lettuce and dipping it into a gallon of western dressing. I ate all day long as I worked. Taking the scrap roast beef and mushing it up into a big vat adding bbq sauce. I learned how to juggle potatoes there and got paid. You and I would have been pals if we worked together because I had friends there just like you.
I don't even get this excited about getting a raise. This guy is an inspiration.
Dude....that’s my toyota service van. I live behind that Rax.
Is it still open?
@@seanoleary4374 Yea its still open, its drive thru only right now tho.
I live about a mile from this Rax restaurant! I grew up eating this food and it is just as great now as it was 30 years ago! Long live Rax!
YES! #BBCsEVERYDAY !!!!!
@@ThatNateGuyOnUA-cam whoa dude really
@@sincerelydavillian5851 NOT THAT BBC
I will pay cold hard cash for you to mail some to south Carolina on a regular basis
This is the most wholesome thing I've ever viewed
he said he wanted the clock so bad he would steal it
This brought a tear to my eye. I used to work at the Rax in Akron. I miss my BBCs. Best years of my life really. I miss you guys.
Little did he know a few months later this video would get him on a national tv show
Do you have a link?
I drive by this Rax regularly. I assure you there was no risk of not getting your footage before people filled the restaurant. The place is always a ghost town. I can’t comprehend how it is still open but I am glad it is.
This dude needs to be the mascot for Rax cause of his excitement lol
As a West Coast-er, I’ve never heard of Rax! The interior design and layout really looks like older Wendy’s, too.
Yup I'm from San Diego and never heard of rax but I'm interested... I got here from tosh!
*yeah closest we have to this is arbys and they closed a ton of locations.
Yeah back in the 80’s Both Wendy’s and Rax had similar features and floor plans.
Wendy's is also from Ohio. I've read that Wendy's jacked the look from Rax lol
I live in lancaster. I'm literally eating rax right now. It's great.
Pretty cool to find a place you loved as a teenager and it is exactly as you remembered it thanks for sharing your awsome rax adventure loved it Nate
I visit this Rax occasionally, the first time I went in there was a couple years ago and it felt like I got a piece of my childhood back. They even had tube TVs in the dining room at the time.
I so understand your excitement. I worked at a few Raxes in the Seattle area before they went bankrupt. I miss them sooooo bad. Great memories.
Your enthusiasm speaks for so many of us. Thank you.
I love the passion for the nostalgia !
I live in Oregon, and our Rax locations went out of business more than 20 years ago. Having not been inside one in so long, I'm bowled over by how identical the floor plan is to Wendy's. The exterior of the building is unmistakably Rax and gets my tastebuds longing for one of their roast beef Sammies. I'm amazed right now because I thought the company had completely gone under.
Reddit summons many things from lady death, have you met herr pepe?
We don’t have Rax where I live in the south. But yea, Wendy’s was the first thing I thought of when he toured the interior.
I worked at a Rax in Coos Bay, Oregon. I started in 1987 and left in 1990. I have similar funny stories. I’m right there with you. I wish I could have another BBC. I recall they added hamburgers at one point. Remember the Uncle Alligator kids meals? Your video brought back a lot of great memories.
Growing up in Urbana Ohio we had a Rax. It was fantastic. One of our classes in elementary school you got star for good behavior and grades and could trade X amount of stars in for different things. One of the prizes was a trip to Rax for lunch with the teacher and you got the salad/pasta bar, a sandwich, and a baked potato as your meal. I always used my stars for this.
Its been on my list to pick up food for my kids. I recently moved back to Ohio near rt 33. Rax was my first job in the early 90s. I usually did the salad bar or drive thru. I hated being a cashier. Customers were mean. The GM after lunch rush was CRAZY.
I was the lucky one they dressed up in chef costume to introduce the pizza on the salad bar. I loved their 1 trip salad bar. Loaded that puppy up.
I met many nice senior citizens over the years. Mr. Love was a regular Wednesdays and Sunday evenings. He was. Had to be close to 90. Everyone greeted him.
I left my senior year for retail and more $.
This is the best. We used to have Rax in Huntington, WV. This was just golden to see this video. Thanks for making this. Damn beautiful memory is what this was.
You know they still have one in Ironton Ohio. I think it's the ast one left in the Tri-state.
Hey! I'm from Huntington originally!
There is still one in Ironton. Not far away if you have a craving.
I went here as a kid with my grandma all the time! This video brought back so many memories. I hope to enjoy rax once more in life someday! Cheers
Tosh sent me here
You know you're in Ohio when a confused fast food chain is like stepping into an ancient relic.
I found a Kmart in hemitt, CA and I swear it still had 90s products on the shelf in 2008. Time Machine!!!
Here come the Tosh comments 😂
I had this same exact flashback experience a few years ago at the Joliet IL Rax! It literally was like stepping back in time! The one in Joliet still had a salad bar at the time
I don't think I ever ate at a Rax as a kid, and I also never had a chance to meet my father in law (he passed away before I had the chance). Yes, those statements are related: he loved Rax! A couple of years ago we made a pilgrimage to the nearest location--yup, this same one in Lancaster. It was really cool to make that familial connection, and it was darn good food to boot! If it wasn't 45 minutes away, we'd go there all the time!
The Harlan KY location still has a salad bar, I visited two months ago.
I worked there in High School. Some of the greatest times of my life. JA Case, are you from Harlan also??
I’m from harlan too. Getting the bbc is one of the best things on there menu. I’m happy it hasn’t closed.
This place is a relic. My mom worked at the one in Whitehall, OH about 45 minutes away from this location, and used to bring food home all the time. I can only vaguely remember it. I was about 6 or 7. I didn't realise they still existed. Going to have to make a trip to Lancaster some time soon. Thanks for the video.
I love your enthusiasm I am the same way when it comes to Nostalgia and memories from long time ago thank you so much for posting
The owner of this Rax was originally a franchisee who actually purchased the company so he wouldn’t have to pay licensing fees. There are also Rax Restaurants in Circleville and Ironton.
I have never heard of Rax but I respect this man's nostalgia 100%.
Such a awesome rax I like how they kept it the same all those years awesome video
Petition to replace mr.delicious to this guy. the words he put up to describe what he's eating is nothing but honesties and that's just make me wanna go and eat there. sadly i live at the other side of the world so yea :(
Man I've never had Rax but you just made it my favorite restaurant.
I used to work at the one in Johnstown, PA. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about man. I felt your excitement walking through and eating the food. I used to talk on the drive-thru in different accents. My top choices were the deluxe, mushroom melt w/ BBQ sauce, turkey/bacon club, and i used to get the nuggets and put them in a garden salad with ranch.
Rax is awesome they have a few locations in southern Ohio, very underrated restaurant
Glad to see Rax is still around. After the one in my area (Parkville MD) closed, I found one in PA years later which elated me. I see that the PA and WV locations have since closed. Darn it. It's time to bring Rax back across America.
BRO! Thank you SO much! Been looking for Rax videos/photos and I would of reacted very much the same way had I come across a functioning Rax! Haven’t been to one since I was 8-9 yrs old! (Rax left my area, Utah, around the mid to late 80’s). Thanks again for the memories. Made my day. 😀
UTAH! Yes! Home of Shonduras and the filming locations of High School Musical! gitcha gitcha gitcha gitcha head in the game!!
I’m surprised Rax didn’t heal your eye after eating that meal.
At least he could eat there!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I used to work for Rax Roast Beef in Sandy Utah. Oh my goodness! Brings back the past. In 1981.
Man, I'm so fortunate to still have one nearby in Joliet IL. I did a review on it on my channel. They do have good food. So good the arbys across the street didn't make it, which I also did a video of abandoned. Now I want to go down and get some food!!!
LOL, I talked to you yesterday, 😂😂😂, still trying to figure out when me and my friend are going!
This video made me sssoooo incredibly happy to watch!!! Thank you for sharing this experience!!! 💗💗💗
I came here from Tosh.O only to realize this is the Rax from my town. 😂
I had never even heard of Rax before
I remember there was a Rax restaurant in my town that moved into the Burger Chef after they closed. Rax’s salad bar was really awesome! My sister worked there for a short time!
I used to love this restaurant. Every time my dad would take us on a trip to Kentucky, we used to stop at a Rax that was across from a company called RCA. Cannot remember the town though. It looked just like this one. Now, you can’t find Rax anywhere. Their roast beef and blueberry shakes were the best I ever had. I hope they never change this one. Someone always comes along and ruins great time capsules like this.
I have to tell you that your video inspired me to do a road trip from Washington DC to that Rax! I worked at Rax in Lancaster, PA in the late 80’s, and I STILL have my Uncle Alligator glasses from the kids meals! I’m sooooo excited to go there! I’ll be there next Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning if you want to join!
Eat your heart out, Arby's! Rax is the real deal! When you started eating I could just see joy!
I randomly searched up Rax on youtube because of a very vivid dream I had last night (was at a McDonald's that was styled to look like it was the 80s, cashiers dressed up as Fry Kids for Halloween, and over on the other side of it...a Rax) and yours was the top video. Rax hasn't existed in my location since...Gosh, I think it closed when I was around 9 or 10, if even that, and I'm 36 now. So, it's been awhile. The old building is painted green and is a Chinese restaurant, now. The Wal-Mart (back when it didn't sell groceries) it used to share the parking lot with is now a Hobby Lobby. The DQ across the street from it, which also had a solarium, is now a Ryan's. Only the mall is still there, and it's half-deserted. I spent many Saturday lunches as a kid in one of those two solariums with my parents. Rax more often than not, and as soon as you walked in there, I could tell you exactly which table we always took. First one on the left hand side, right next to the partition. Sometimes, my grandparents were with us.
I always had a roast beef and curly fries, and a milkshake that I was always too full to finish. But, as soon as my dad would come to the table with the "good thing," as I called them, I had to have one. I remember one weekend, we'd finished eating and I had majorly overdone it. We were in the car again, pulling closer to the Wal-Mart, and dad was taking his dear, sweet time finding the ideal parking place. I warned them I was going to throw up, but no one believed me and mom kept telling me to shush and I'd be fine. Thinking it was just typical kid whining. Right up until the moment I lost my lunch all over the back floorboard. Taught them a valuable lesson about not believing me.
And that time in the women's clothing department of the old Wal-Mart (now the flower section of Hobby Lobby), when I found a straight pin in the floor and poked mom in the butt, taught her never to try ignoring me.
Pretty awesome!.. We had a Rax in Eugene Oregon back in the 80's/90s and definitely miss it . My typical sandwich of choice was the roast beef with lettuce/mayo , the Deluxe/King Rax. Might actually have to travel to Oh or illinois at some point just to visit one. Or maybe open a location here in Eugene again :)
My first job was at Rax in Kirkland, Washington in 1984. Thanks for the memories!
this is AMAZING. how is everything brand new yet they're still in business? I guess all the old, unused stuff from the shut down locations made it back to HQ and was redistributed to the few lasting locations. it's really something.
The prayer🙏 had me ROLLING! 😜 I AM SO JEALOUS. I wish we had one in Tennessee. Also upset that the Blueberry Shake isn't on the menu anymore! 🤷🏻♂️
I hope I can try Rax before they all close. As of this comment there are only 5 left. I will look for this comment if I'm in one. And I hope I will.
I love this guy’s exuberance!
Favorite here 😁 Yes yes super jealous. I would have ordered the deluxe rb. I also worked there many years ago as a teen. I love your videos. My son especially loves the Spirit videos. Thank you so much for sharing!¡ 😁😁
This is incredible!!! The roast beef sandwiches are seriously Mr. Delicious!!
Loved the Amazing Rax Adventure 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Even tho I never visited Rax before, I can understand the novelty vibes you got there.
It definitely has something very unique. It's like a mix between an Arby's and a burger king.
Anyone do a count of how many times he says “Rax”?
I'll see it and raise you 159 Holy Craps.
When I was a kid in the 80s I remember driving by a RAX in Pittsburgh numerous times, but I don't recall exactly where it was. Always thought the name was funny.
BBC that means something completely different
Yeah..glad it was a different type of beef he sinks his teeth into🤔
Rax calls their hotdogs BBC’s and wonder why they failed.
@@Fonz128 🍻🥃👌🏾😅😔😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I loved their character cups as a kid so frickin much.
The Rax close to my old house was turned into an arcade in the 90’s.
I dig the passion. I've never heard of Rax but I hope they survived 2020 so I can visit one!
Tosh.0 Web Redemption happening next week on Comedy Central!
I just love your enthusiasm in this video! Rax left Minnesota a long time ago but I would love to have a BBC, and just seeing you eat one was enjoyable! Thanks for the vid.
Dude, this brings back some good teenage memories! I loved the Rax and wasn’t happy when they closed in Louisville!
I remember eating at a Rax in Columbus Ohio that had a salad bar. I actually thought the food was pretty good and I think it was back in the 80s
Glad you found that. If only Mr. Delicious would have shown up. Hope the food was awesome!
I wanna eat at RAX!
Thanks for sharing.
Got a Rax near me at Ironton they use to be everywhere when I was a kid about like Shoneys and Ponderosa ☹️☹️☹️
This video warmed my heart.
Soo cool ! I remember Rax out here in WA state and it was very similar setup, my aunt worked there so we got the hookup. I remember the salad bar, sandwiches, now it's a kfc tho. Now I have reason to go to Ohio, just gotta try it 1 more time before I die lol. #bringbackrax
This is so funny, love this bid and this guy, a legendary video for sure
Upon gazing at the menu, it seems their menu is a hybrid of what Arby's and Wendy's offers. Arby's offers roast beef sandwiches and curly fries. Wendy's offers baked potatoes and salads. It looked like they were trying to compete with both chains, but lost out in the end. I was looking at their history and find they were successful in their operations up until the 1980's when they had over 500 locations. Fast forward to October of 2020, they're just barely alive with only 5 locations left. I am curious as to how long Rax will continue to hold on with their dated menu and appearance.
great video, love how excited you got
I use to LOVE Rax!! Their Chocolate Chip milkshake was the Bomb!!
I still dream of having a BBC again. I thought Rax was completely gone, I had no idea there were still a couple of locations within 4 hours of my house! Time to plan a roadtrip!!
I'm from Pennsylvania. I have no idea why Rax closed down in the 90's. It had everything going for it: 1) Great Food; 2) Great Atmosphere; and 3) and a salad bar to die for. Arby's has never been even close. I would travel to Ohio as well just so I could sink my teeth into those juicy, awesome roast beef sandwiches with Horse radish sauce, and don't forget: Uncle Alligator Kids meal.
Thats crazy how fancy their restaurant looked. All that space AND carpet??? Wish i can try it 😢
Oh I am so jealous lol I miss Rax so much....:( we have Arbys but it sure is not the same :(
I remember this place in Florida as a kid. The kids Jr Rax with a chocolate chip cookie was the best. They changed it to a Miami Subs. Now its a parking lot of where it was.
I loved Rax when I was a kid. I was in Lancaster a couple of weeks ago, if I'd known there was a Rax still operating I would have eaten there.
Wow, I never seen a man so excited to eat at a place 😋
I'd like to try Rax out, but there isn't any no where near where I live. Nice shiner by the way *lol*
You might want to open your own franchise store. You can have Rax every day.
As a resident of Fairfield county, I approve of this video.
Those solariums were popular back in the day. Rax, Wendy's, Arby's, and maybe a few others had them. I always sat in them.
Two thumbs up. One for your prayer to God. And the other for Ohio. Great Video
Hey man! I'm a retail enthusiast and I got super excited when I saw this as a preview for next week's episode of tosh!
Best presentation on food I ever saw,,,
I still need to check out Rax. We had 2 in Springfield, one became a Fazolis and the other one became a loan place.
