  • My Sugar Syrup Pump Setup
    Hey Y'all
Well, I finally got my sugar syrup pump setup thanks to watching lots of re-runs from Nathan over at Duck River Honey and Bob Binnie and various others.
I wanted to share the information that I had, in case it would help someone else that is working on getting their system set up.
    Thank y'all for watching!

I really like your hose reals, and that long hose. Those are future addition I plan on along with disconnects but those amenities add to the cost a bit. I had thought about using tubing instead of the PVC, I think I like yours better. Blessed Days Tex...

Hi DC. This is actually the 60 gallon tank. Sorry if I didn't mention that in the video. I will most likely only be doing 40 -50 gallon batches for the moment, so I have a little bit of room to grow into it.
      Thanks for watching!

@@TexasBeekeeper That's a 60 gallon tank, hmm I wonder if I got the wrong one, that one looks the same size as the 1 I got.

I wonder if there is anyway to stop that "Start up splash" ?

It's really not much at all DC. If you hold the hose low enough in the feeder, nothing even splashes out.
I think the only thing you could do to tame it down in lower the pressure switch from 45 to like 30. I believe that's what Bob said they did to one of their pumps. But honestly I don't have a problem with it. I used it today with actual sugar syrup and it did great.

Maybe I missed it in the video but will it pump 2:1? - Darren

Hey Darren, I haven't pumped 2:1, however I just re-watched Bob Binnie's video where he shows Seth's setup using the same pump and he has pumped 2:1 with it. He said it pumps a little slow, but he's using 1/2" hose where this that I have set up is 3/4" hose, so there should be less restriction.
      Hope this helps.
      Thanks for watching!

What size tank did you go with

    • @TexasBeekeeper
      @TexasBeekeeper  13 днів тому +1

@BVaughanfulk I went with the 60 gallon tank from Northern tool.
I figured I can always fill it halfway or so if needed.
It does not pump very well when it gets down to about 5 gallons or so, so I usually have to dump the last part into a tub manually.

@@TexasBeekeeper thanks for replying! I’m currently at 2 hives and I help a friend with 8 more. 5 gallon buckets and 1 gallon jugs is becoming a lot to manage lol

@@BVaughanfulk I hear ya! That's exactly why I decided to finally upgrade too. Lugging those 1 gallon jugs around got old real quick. Good luck to you!
