This video is awesome. I have a KitchenAid KDTM354DSS and water was no longer spraying throughout the dishwasher. It would fill up and drain, but not circulate the water around. I could tell because when i opened up the dishwasher door, everything was dry whereas when it was working the walls of the dishwasher would be wet after a rinse cycle. After some research I figured it must have been the circulation pump. Unfortunately this part is very expensive. The pump itself is about $250-$300 and the pump and motor assembly is a tad more. I couldn't find the pump/motor assembly in stock anywhere so i ordered just the circulation pump, the part shown in this video. I was lucky to find it on eBay brand new for $100. It took me about 2 hours to do this repair. The one tool i didn't have is a pinch clamp tool. I had to go to a friend's house to borrow his. I was in shock when i ran the dishwasher and it worked again! I'm not a handy man type of guy at all so i surprised myself.

This was extremely helpful. One of the best 'how-to's' on YT! Saved me a lot of time and money replacing the pump motor. I went a step further and replaced the motor instead of the whole assembly which saved me $265 over the cost for the whole assembly. Thanks!

@@repairclinic I have a kitchen Aid Dishwasher KDTM384ESS which when I run a cycle, takes in water but all 3 Spray Arms do not work. I hear a click sound but nothing happens. I took out the Lower Spray Arm and cleaned it the best I can but it still doesn't work. Please advise what to do?

Thank you for making this, very helpful. While not exactly like my model, you got me through the hard parts and made me brave enough to take off the additional things I needed to remove to be able to get to everything. Thanks again, Awesome.

Mine lasted 3 years and failed today. Well at least I think it failed, it fills makes a humming sound, no water moves around, then drains at the end of the cycle.

Good video and capable technician. However, this Whirlpool system is a bad design; employing fine mesh filter on the rotating pump shaft underneath the machine. Even a small foreign object (or lime build up crumbs) can get to the filter section then tear the fine mesh during rotation in the pump and degrade cleaning drastically if not seized the pump at all. Should have been a user accessible fine filter like Bosch design. It is like putting the oil filter in the cylinder head.

I agree! Any way to fix the filter to make it last?

@@rossbird3568 Remove? Seriously, I just changed mine. Ridiculous pain. A filter should be consumer-accessible. If I have to do it again, i'm going to try just running without.

Why unwire electricity to the unit? Can't you simply unplug?

      Some dishwashers are hardwired.

Also, if the wire isn't long enough to allow the washer to come all the way out from the cabinet....

I have been using my dishwasher for about 35 years now, never replaced any parts and still going strong. I wash 'em with my hands.

Not exactly like my model, actually not even close, i wouldn't say useless, so I figured it out but model specific would have saved me 3 hours. there are no hoses on mine, but there is one hidden screw that makes it all work on this model.

You should never hard-wire a dishwasher. It's supposed to have an electrical cord installed at the junction box under the machine, which plugs into an approved outlet under the sink.
