The first time skz officially released subunits is from InLife album, also 3 sub units. For the noeasy sub units, they filmed a series to show the process of it, it's called skz we howl in harmony, there are 5 episodes i think, highly recommend to watch! The members also have solos and collabs from skz record/player series~

Binnie is their aegyo _king_ (which is an actual term they've used). Most of them die inside while doing it, a couple are meh about it, but Binnie _adores_ aegyo. He doesn't just do it when asked; he'll do aegyo to himself if there's no one else around to appreciate him for being adorable. There are three-year-olds less happy to do aegyo than Changbin. I can't stress this enough: the demon rapper of Stray Kids is their devoted, ardent, enthusiastic aegyo master, and he will turn it on at every possible opportunity. And while all of them have happily declared him to be in charge of SKZ's aegyo, it continues to embarrass his leader and horrify all five members of the maknae line to various degrees (Lee Know tends to judge, threaten, or ignore him). The age goes from Minho being the eldest which is why he is the "Mom" of the group. Changbin is the middle and Felix is the youngest. Because in reality, it goes like Chan, Lee Know, Binnie, Jinnie, Hannie. Yongbok, Minnie, and then I.N. This is why Chan is the dad but in Han's perspective, Changbin is the "Mom" Chan is the "Dad" and Han is the "Baby" when you watch 2Rooms with Chan and Changbin together.

The _first_ unit tracks were in the I Am album trilogy/series: "NOT!", "WHO?", and "YOU." On the very first album, Mixtape, they actually turned their unit songs from the show into full-group songs, and for some reason they didn't do unit tracks in the Clé trilogy/series/era or on the GO生 album from the God's Menu era. But everything else has unit tracks (all three albums from the I Am era, IN生 and NOEASY from the God's Menu era, and now, with the two units on ODDINARY, it looks like this new era's trilogy/series will continue the practice) -- and the units are always different combos. No solid info on how the units for the I Am trilogy were chosen, but the IN生 units were 3RACHA, Danceracha, and Vocalracha; NOEASY were "Who wants to do the sexy song/the happy song/the ballad?" and the process is discussed a bit in Howl in Harmony; and ODDINARY was "four most frequent rappers/the de facto rap line if they were a group with set positions" and "we'd call it four most frequent vocals, but Han exists, so let's say vocals without the qualifier/the de facto vocal line (minus Han) if they were a group with set positions."
Yes, the units always write their own songs. Most of them get instrumental tracks to work with, but they still have input there -- and on the ODDINARY unit tracks, they also composed along with a co-producer they've worked with before and have the primary composition credits.
