Ron Paul, thank you for caring for us even when we were too ignorant to listen. Because of you, people are waking up to what's really going on in the world. There is no better candidate for the champion of liberty.
By the way, I love that someone updated Morton's Wiki to include "He also blamed tobacco companies for lying to consumers about cigarettes, although congressman Ron Paul (also a physician) had advised him, in 1988, while on his show, that smoking was highly unhealthy and responsible for a huge number of deaths every year." Who ever did that is a champ!
I used to think Ron Paul was nuts. After a few years he's my favorite political person ever ! his retirement speech from Congress was one of the most real things I've ever heard. Truth.
Whoa, what happened to shows like this? It's like the Jerry Springer of politics. High quality entertainment! Funny how Ron Paul hasn't changed his stance and is consistently proven correct over a 25 year period
Well, that hypocrite was actually a member of a smoking advocacy group -- until he ended up with lung cancer. It's always the people who make the WORST decisions in their own lives who want to dictate what other people do.
I don't know why buddy in the red shirt got so mad. He IS a little overweight. lol Poor Ron. Makes my head feel like it's gonna explode listening to all these thoughtless souls. :-P
Ron Paul gives a great argument for liberty and freedom of choice. Morton threatens to puke on him, receiving applause. When idiots know their argument is invalid the hilarious threats/insults begin... We see this time and time again from nearly anyone left of Paul because he dismantles their ideals and traditions with America's own Constitution. Boy, do they get mad!! :)
***** Actually it means the freedom to choose to make good decisions for yourself. The freedom to make mistakes, the freedom to do better than anyone expected you to. The freedom to not be held down by government like an animal in a zoo. That animal will never be able to live a normal life when thrown out of captivity. All the government is is a fucking slaveholder. Promising at least an okay life if you will keep supporting it. Fuck that anyone can do better when they are unchained from mediocrity.
Umm the federal reserve is the only bank fully protected by the federal government. The fact that government is so big has given big corporations an investment to ensure they don't ever go out of business.
***** Considering one of the biggest tenets of the Libertarian philosophy is "non-aggression", saying there would be "no rape laws" kinda makes no sense, does it?
There is a very clear difference between government regulation and big government regulation. Government regulation you can point to the exact place in the Constitution that authorizes that regulation - the majority of the time being found in the Enumerated Powers Clause. By design, the Federal Government is only authorized to perform a very limited number of tasks that could not reasonably be performed by the individual states or the people, with a bias towards leaving things to the states. Big government regulation, you can't point to the exact place in the Constitution that authorizes the regulation, or you have to reference the Commerce Clause, the General Welfare Clause, or call the regulation a "tax" because it can't be justified through normal means.
Only two years ago, people thought Ron Paul was crazy.. Look at how things are today, watch this and you'll discover who the real crazy people were/are.
5:31 I love how Mort perks up after RP tells him to stick to the issue, wind up like he's going to make some great intellectual point, then says, "If slime like you were in the White House, I'd puke on you," to thunderous applause. Mort would later say his show was nowhere near as trashy as Jerry Springer. I think this show makes the typical Springer atmosphere look like a Chomsky debate. Sure, Mort's show addressed more serious issues, but the manner he used to address them is so deplorable.
Over 30 years saying the same thing consistently, always right, never sold out & dealt with idiots like this constantly yet never wavered from his message & will to spread liberty & wake people up. He will always be my hero
John Smith mom can take all of those drugs even today when it's illegal. You forgot that in Ron Pauls model ones liberties still doesn't allow him/her to harm others in anyway.
Sakke L. Yea it would still happen. When prohibition ended people still drank and drove, people still got into bar fights. And people still went to jail for drunk driving, public intox, or anything related to alcohol. If somebody's addicted they're going to take that drug or narcotic whether it's legal or not.
Sakke L. Medically proven fact heroine you take one dose you're automatically addicted. You don't just take drugs like heroine, pcp, methamphetamine, or any other *highly* addictive drug you can't just shut that off. Quitting from cigarettes is *easier* than quitting PCP, Heroine, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, LSD, Ecstasy etc. That's why they're considered *highly addictive* narcotics. People don't just stop taking them and go well it's no longer cool any more my addiction has been kicked.

Ron Paul, thank you for caring for us even when we were too ignorant to listen. Because of you, people are waking up to what's really going on in the world. There is no better candidate for the champion of liberty.
By the way, I love that someone updated Morton's Wiki to include "He also blamed tobacco companies for lying to consumers about cigarettes, although congressman Ron Paul (also a physician) had advised him, in 1988, while on his show, that smoking was highly unhealthy and responsible for a huge number of deaths every year."
Who ever did that is a champ!
This is insane. I have even more respect for Ron Paul than I had before. I can’t believe he never gave up on humanity.
Ron Paul always spoke the truth, and still does. This host obviously has no clue what he is talking about.
I used to think Ron Paul was nuts. After a few years he's my favorite political person ever ! his retirement speech from Congress was one of the most real things I've ever heard. Truth.
Its amazing how clueless the audience is
Whoa, what happened to shows like this? It's like the Jerry Springer of politics. High quality entertainment! Funny how Ron Paul hasn't changed his stance and is consistently proven correct over a 25 year period
+SuperNova153
Which makes this even more hilarious, given how they claim he's trumping it up for attention.
And yes, pun intended.
Ron Paul shitted on these people lol
He really didn't, he was drowned out by neanderthals. He's absolutely right though
Holy shit! Way to hold your ground Ron!!
Smoking a cigarette and talking about how drugs should be illegal
Well, that hypocrite was actually a member of a smoking advocacy group -- until he ended up with lung cancer. It's always the people who make the WORST decisions in their own lives who want to dictate what other people do.
Ron Paul was right then and he's still right today.
I don't know why buddy in the red shirt got so mad. He IS a little overweight. lol
Poor Ron.
Should we have federal rape laws? No. There is nothing in the Constitution that grants the federal government the authority to do that.
I swear the court scene in Idiocracy had to be based on this episode.
Only two years ago, people thought Ron Paul was crazy.. Look at how things are today, watch this and you'll discover who the real crazy people were/are.
Ron Paul: "We wouldn't fight the Vietnam war, we wouldn't fight the Korean war."
Morton Downy: "We get high. We get high."
But we would fight a war to protect our sovereignty and write legislation to prevent soft power war and extortion
Wow, Ron was a visionary, ahead of his time.
Ron Paul is and always was the man.
God Bless Ron Paul
Ron Paul was right in 1988, and by God, he's still right in 2021.
I’ve never seen Ron so fired up
Ron Paul is right. Too bad people have not realized how right he is regarding the drug war
This show represents America well
Ron Paul had no chance on this show of mouth breathers.
Over 30 years saying the same thing consistently, always right, never sold out & dealt with idiots like this constantly yet never wavered from his message & will to spread liberty & wake people up. He will always be my hero
here is proof that ron paul is consistent about freedom...what a great example of what politics should be about!
John Smith mom can take all of those drugs even today when it's illegal. You forgot that in Ron Pauls model ones liberties still doesn't allow him/her to harm others in anyway.
John Smith As Ron said in some other video: "do you believe that everybody would run and take PCP just because it became legal".
T Arney Then how the fuck is legalizing suppose to help?
Why does everybody act like political discourse being "toxic" is a thing that started only recently?
'Your a little overweight, why don't you have the Government put you on a Diet'
"Suppose a maniac got hold of a talk show. Or need we suppose?" - The Washington post about Morton Downly Jr. Show
This clip is like internet comment boards IRL.
Wow, I never paid attention to Ron, but he was right back then before all of the horrible damage done by the war on drugs.
"When you find yourself on the side of the majority its time to pause and reflect."
Mark Twain
Ron Paul literally predicted the CIA drug trafficking ring.
Ron Paul is a true American. I may disagree with some of his views, but the Majority of his views are the same as mine. I admire this man for being himself regardless of being mistreated by ppl/media.
Ron Paul is the MAN !!!
Springer show has more cred than this circus
And of course Ron Paul was 100% right..... Don't you love how they thought it was absurd that the US was actually dealing drugs?
Oh and then they tried to assert that Ron Paul was snorting coke! lol
“Many people, especially ignorant people, want to punish you for speaking the truth, for being correct, for being you. Never apologize for being correct, or for being years ahead of your time. If you’re right and you know it, speak your mind. Speak your mind. Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth.” - Mahatma Gandhi
They keeping talking about the dumbing down of America, well it seems even in 30 years it didn't drop much. I recall watching this show as a kid and loving it.
Ron Paul is a great man.
Ron Paul was the only one with a brain in that building
oh my god, ron paul warned us about everything even back in the day and we still dont hear him today. GOD SAVE USA!
Wow this is a side of Ron Paul I haven't seen before. Love it! Not sure it's the most productive way but how do you argue with idiots? Who was the woman and where is she now. Love to know what she thinks of the massive drug war effort now, arresting parents and putting them in goal, putting their kids into care for smoking a toke, massive amounts of tax payer dollars going to private prisons and police efforts instead of real crime. We can see why he was fighting so passionately now. Go Ron Paul
If you want to spell jail the archaic way it's gaol not goal. You're welcome.😉
13:39
it was that moment when Ron saw the future of this nation.
Ron Paul made the most sense.
***** He always does. Too bad people by and large are too brainwashed or unintelligent to see the truth.
Crowd is full blown short bus
i remember being real young and occasionally sneaking the tv on when everyone was asleep and seeing sterns early show and this, both of which were on WWOR out of jersey i believe (new haven CT resident) crazy stuff!
"There were also no speeding laws for cars!"
"THERE WEREN'T ANY CARS, MORT!!"
Go Ron!
He was right then, and he is right today; oh, and he is the only one in the room that is an actual doctor and staunch advocate for Freedom FROM the goobers in gooberment.
People weren't ready for Ron back then. He got more attention recently, but most people still didn't understand.
I love ron paul so much.... It will be a different world without him
This is what we watched before the Internet.
This is just Twitter on TV lol
Authoritarianism. Authoritarianism everywhere.
+1554coltsfan >implying that authoritarianism is a bad thing
This is infuriating to watch. I can’t believe how ignorant people were back then. Ron Paul would run intellectual circles around this combined brain power of everyone in that audience
''Back then'' Ugh, you'd be part of the crowd.
2024…Ron Paul was correct, and ahead of his time
Just after i didnt think i could get anymore respect for ron paul, i found this old ass gem that really puts into perspective how much of a david he was in a country of goliaths over all these years ❤💯
Social media before the internet!
So this was a TV show that people watched? Amazing
gotta give it up to Ron tho! that man still push through
If only we had this firey Ron Paul around nowadays.
Ron Paul will go down as a legend
