I never owned electric skateboard before but after getting them last month or so for the very first time, it changed my life. I do own Breeze II and wish they also had that separate belt driven hub from their website for us to purchase. I am quite interested in this electric skateboard. This will be my next buy! Thanks Ronnie!
So I went ahead and got the X1 Pro with regular hub motors and I have been using it to commute. It works great and I highly recommend it. That said, I have had a couple of instances where the board disconnected from the remote while hard braking on a hill. This is terrifying especially when barreling downhill toward a busy intersection. Key lessons learned: 1) Stay off public roads as much as possible. 2) DO NOT commit to a speed that you cannot foot brake or slide stop from. 3) Practice those skills. 4) Helmet and slide glove. Every time. Bearing in mind that neither of those things will help if you get smoked by motor vehicle.
I love hub motors too but to be able to switch from a variety of wheels is the biggest selling factor of the belt drives. I think theres an off road wheels that you can also use with the belt drives.
the noise from the belt motors makes the hubs so much more attractive (i just ordered x1 pro for $709, woooo! been riding a hub board for the past 2 years, max speed 16mph, 5 mile range, OK hillclimb...def looking forward to the upgrade, great review on the x1pro in your other video!)
There is one thing you dont adress in any of your videos though: would a hub motor be better for downhill? So rephrase: would it have less resistance with gravity added speed compared to the Riot?
hey ronnie, I have an Exway X1 Pro Riot and could you have a video tutorial on how to adjust the tension of the belts? I literally spent 3 hrs unscrewing/tightening and all that fiddling stuff last night and cant seem to figure out how to do it.
There is a general trade off of top speed and torque in belt motors. Usually because of the gear ratio. It gives mechanical advantage for torque but means that your wheels are spinning less per motor turn and thus lower top speed.

Ronnie Sarmiento Hi Ronnie. Love your videos. They were so helpful to me selecting an electric skateboard for my son’s 21 birthday. He got the Exway X1 Pro. Absolutely loves it. But a couple of km into riding it, the motor failed (while going down hill. He got a bit banged up when he lost brakes and speed control but is ok and still enthusiastic.) The board won’t turn on now. We are working with Electric Boarding Company who we purchased it through but not getting any response from Exway. Any thoughts? Have you ever heard of this happening? Is the motor self-service replaceable or should we get a new board? Don’t want it to happen again. Is there something my son should have done differently? Thanks for any ideas you have.
i'm having a BLAST with my exway riot so far. tbh suprisingly comparable to my boosted.. my review will likely be out in like 2 weeks and it's gonna be a good one
Hey man! Loved the video. I'm in the process of buying an exway x1 pro, and I'm debating wether to get hubs or riot. I was leaning towards the riot kit, but got a bit bummed out at the end where you talked about sliding and deep carves. I was wondering though, is it just "a little weird" because the motors touch the board? If so, could I not just flip them? I love sliding and carving, so I'd love to know this! :)
My man, lights are more important than helmets, helmets protect you in a crash lights avoid then, wear lights during the day and during the night please, we love you Ronnie
Did you notice a significant difference in ride quality between the hub and riot kit? The roads around me are fine but not great and I'm wondering if its worth it to by the riot version for that reason alone.
@@RonnieSarmiento guess where u are have some nice paved roads, I'm hoping that using softer wheels would sooth out the bumpiness from the badly surfaces roads around me, vibrations were so bad that my feet went off the board sometimes, also numbing too :(

Dude you should have had this like since last year man, I think you can enter some type of code to get $200 off and another $50 off the price they have now, but I get 4-6mile 180-190lbs you could get more but that's like if you ride in it in 2nd gear going really slow, I'm just telling you the highest gear and riding it to make it scream as loud as possible you could get 7 miles maybe cuz you weigh only 160
29 miles per hour I think it's the exway x1 pro hub, I have the riot it's 1-2 mile per hour slower, put it this way when I have a full battery and with me not on the board just push the throttle it maxes out at 27 miles per hour, so I do not think it will go anything faster than that I did a speed test only one time and when I looked at the remote it was saying 26mph, and shit bro that is fast, you could probably get 1-2mph more, the thing is fast
The riot pack is advertised at being 1 mph slower than the hubs but having more torque. Why would it be faster? Kind of set the board up for failure there lol
In my tests my top speed for the hub motors was off from what they claim, so why not question that the riot will have a different result as well? I guess you could say riot is faster at first, with hubs being faster top speed. It really just depends on the kind of race your having I guess.
