According to Meltzer's logic almost every match deserves 5 stars because "it works for the audience". But he also said the star rating is infinite, so 4 stars is really low. Why not 6 billion stars?
I hate to admit it, but this is one time I will agree with Cornette. There are just too many people in wrestling - especially the internet fans - who push for guys slicing themselves open all the time and bashing themselves with freaking light bulbs (which puts the FANS at risk with possible glass shards flying into the stands BTW) because they think wrestlers intentionally tearing up their bodies like that will convince the mainstream that wrestling is REALLY REELLY REAL - continuing to fail to understand that the fact that the end results are still predetermined is why the term "You know it's all fake, right" still exists.
Totally agree with Jim there is no way that match between Jericho and Gage was anywhere near the level of flair and steam boat. Meltzer is smoking crack if he thinks it gets a higher rating.
I Saw It On TV And I Was Like "ARE YOU SERIOUS? WHY PUTTING A DOMINO'S PIZZA AD DURING A WRESTLING MATCH THAT CONTAINED NICK GAGE TAKING A PIZZA CUTTER TO CHRIS JERICHO'S HEAD AND MAKING IT BLEED?"
I just wanted to add my two cents worth about the Jericho vs. Nick Gage match. 1) It was a TERRIBLE idea to have Aubrey Edwards ref that match. If you're going to have an outlaw, mudshow, blood and guts match with broken light bulbs and broken glass everywhere, DON'T PUT YOUR ONLY FEMALE REFEREE IN THERE TO REF IT. What if she would have gotten hurt? I bet that would go over like a lead balloon. Imagine if she would have gotten glass in her eye and lost an eye. Oops. 2) Those light bulbs contain MERCURY. Very toxic heavy metal. It does horrific things to the body, and it very difficult to detox. And Jericho, Gage, and Aubrey were all 3 inhaling large amounts of it every time those bulbs broke. They might not know the effects of it for months or possibly even years. 3) I don't know anyone who enjoys outlaw mudshow wrestling. That hardcore garbage is NOT wrestling. It's lowest common denominator violence, it is not entertaining, and I wish they would quit doing it.
I agree the match was total dogshit but the amount of mercury in those bulbs is miniscule. I'm sure they'll be fine. Gage has had thousands of those bulbs broken over him and has never gotten mercury poisoning.
Good points… But more importantly, what if she had gotten broken glass in one or more of her hooves ..? She would’ve never been able to compete in the Kentucky Derby again ..

The fact that a guy who isn’t even on the roster was responsible for them losing advertising is hilarious
The Mass Transit Incident got ECW in to some deep shit for beating a 17 year old kid to a bloody pulp. He and his father lied about his age to get him in the show.
The kid wasn’t on the roster either.
This is on Jericho. If any fingers are being pointed, it's the star, the one under contract, the older guy with the boss' ear...nobody is blaming Gage. It's like if the band leader on Jimmy Fallon brings in a gangster rap guy...and the dude gangster raps. Nobody is blaming him. The heat is on the band leader.
Think about a guy not even on the roster main eventing your show. What does that say about your own talent
@@78bcat heat should be on jimmy fallon for never being funny
Except they didn't lose anything. Domino's didn't actually drop them.
According to Meltzer's logic almost every match deserves 5 stars because "it works for the audience". But he also said the star rating is infinite, so 4 stars is really low. Why not 6 billion stars?
Dave would yell at you on Twitter and tell you how if a match was really 8 billion trillion stars worthy, he would rate it that.

50 year old man and a bank addicted drug robber.......................I am done, I am dead
Tell us Tony Khan has nobody around him to tell him no without telling me Tony Khan has nobody around him to tell him no.
Totally agree with Jim there is no way that match between Jericho and Gage was anywhere near the level of flair and steam boat.
Meltzer is smoking crack if he thinks it gets a higher rating.
Who gives a flying fuck about one man's match rating system?

Then he vanishes.
It's a small amount of mercury in a giant arena with ventilation. They'll be fine.
I agree the match was total dogshit but the amount of mercury in those bulbs is miniscule. I'm sure they'll be fine. Gage has had thousands of those bulbs broken over him and has never gotten mercury poisoning.
Good points…
But more importantly, what if she had gotten broken glass in one or more of her hooves ..?
She would’ve never been able to compete in the Kentucky Derby again ..
Just when you think Dave Meltzer's reputation can't sink any lower...
Unfortunately, what matters to Dave is that he has a reputation regardless. That's all he is banking on.

Don't they have a team of lawyers who clear this stuff? Tony Khan has said in interview in the past that any time they are going to do anything "questionable" that could cause problems with the network they get it cleared ahead of time. Which means that if Tony put it on Dynamite it was cleared by TNT.
That's prob true, but also, TNT will quickly throw a fit and blame AEW if a big sponsor complains like this regardless of 'permission'. That's how this works. You have to have the sense to not put a loser like Gage on TV because there is no real payoff but could absolutely backlash like this.
