  • "Voces desde la Autogestión: Casa Pueblo" is a Participatory Video Project facilitated by PhD Student Bárbara López-González under the supervision of Dr. Noella Gray in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics and the Institute of Development Studies.
The film was created in collaboration with the community autogestión (self-management) organization Casa Pueblo from Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. This organization has consistently resisted colonial exploitation and extractivism, pioneering community alternatives that leverage science and culture to champion social and environmental justice for the Puerto Rican archipelago.
The project aimed to co-produce knowledge and create space for community members involved in the autogestión effort to share their experience and stories in their own terms. After a series of workshops, the creation of a storyboard, and the community screening, the final outcome aspires to set foundations for deep conversations regarding sustainability, self-determination, and self-management in colonial spaces highly vulnerable and exposed to socio-natural hazards and disasters.
