Jill, You are by far my favorite beading artist/teacher. Your tips and experience are so helpful to avoiding the typical learning mistakes we all encounter. Thank you so much for your clear instructions and beyond beautiful projects. You are an inspiration and have motivated me beyond words..Bless You!
I have seen lot of videos explaining how to make the Russian leaf but your video is very clear....you explain everything exactly how you do it and it is looks easy. Thank you for the lovely video.
Hi Jill, I just finished my first Russian leaf and I had to let you know that I was able to follow your instructions without pulling my hair out. Thank you sooooo much I'm thrilled, I have wasted so much time with other tutorials that do not give me the correct instructions as you do. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with all of us beginners it's much appreciated. Rebecca :)
I'm have recently started beading and I wanted to thank you Jill for a super tutorial on russian leaves, I'm thrilled with how mine have turned out and I've had a lot of pleasure doing them,, a big THANK YOU
I love your technical terms like "sticky-outie". I had been looking at other videos for the Russian leaf and yours is the easiest to understand. :) Thank you
You are the most wonderful teacher. I have been frustrated by Russian leaves and I can happily say that after watching your video I am making the most gorgeous Russian leaves. Thank you!
Jill you do explain the processes very well. I'm very thankful as a beginner. And mentioning your mistakes cracks me up because I've either done it or would have. Many thanks.
I have searched for an easy tutorial for russian leaf earrings. I finally found it, yay!!! You're a great teacher, thank you SO much!!! My 9 year wants me to teach her. Now I can with your tutorial ;-)
I am so grateful for your clarity around the increases. Like you I had sourced multilple places for instructions and it made total sense when you explained it! Thank you for your expertise and for your teaching skills!!!!!!!! Mahalo
I just started beading during the pandemic shut down. I’m a nail tech in Tx. and we were closed for 6 weeks, ending in April ‘20. It’s late Aug. now and I’m ready to learn this new technique. One thing I positively LOVE is when she say “sticky outty. It makes me smile! I got nearly finished with the first side and realized I’d messed up so had to cut it all loose and I’m gonna give it another go. Great tutorial!
Hi Jill, i have bought your kits of Russian Spiral at Fusion Beads 5 years a go on every colors & for me it was my first experience leaves Beading but whit your excellent instructions in this Kit i made those leaves very well, easy peasy and after i have done your Design i start to make my own design's Necklaces & bracelets whit those leaves & they are so Beautiful the possibility are sky is the limit! They are so fun to make & you explain different sizes of those leaves so Thank You very much because i really enjoy this Kit because of your fantastic & Clear instructions to make bunch of those so cute Leaves,so i really recommand this kit to everyone!
Another amazing tutorial. You are a fantastic instructor Jill. Kudos to your teaching style. Very comprehensive. You make it easy to learn. Many thanks. You are appreciated for all of your hard work and generosity in sharing your gift.
Jill, you are the absolute best instructor; I have made several of your creations, which I thought I could never complete, however your clear and patient instructions are a dream. Thank you!
New to beading. I will be trying this project as soon as I get some Delicas ordered. This stitch intrigues me and the earrings are lovely. I also like the way you show and verbally explain what and why you are moving around the piece. Thank you for sharing and teaching❣️❣️❣️
Once again, I THANK YOU for sharing your precious time, talent, knowledge, and skills with all of us so we may all learn! You're an OUTSTANDING teacher! Some things can seem impossible to do, but because of the way you teach, anything you teach seems so MUCH clearer & actually becomes doable! I can't thank you enough! Hugs 2U!
Once again, thank you for doing what you do. You've inspired me, taught me, and made me feel confident with this new passion of mine. You are a light! and a delight!
Wow, I have been struggling with the floppy Russian leaves for years and have given many as gifts...all learned from your wonderful tutorial. Thanks so much for the info; can't wait to try it out!
These are absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to try this stitch. Thank you so much for posting it. I am learning so much and I really appreciate the people who share their talent.
This turned out to be much easier than I expected - thanks to your instructions and demonstrations, which are always so clear and detailed. You are a great teacher. I went through the 'veins' of the leaf a couple of times, which stiffened them up a bit and made the earring a bit firmer. Thanks for another great tutorial :0)
This is fantastic. I was also having so much trouble finding a simple Russian Leaf tutorial. Thank you! It all makes sense now. Next I’ve got to find something more straightforward for that double folded peyote earring style that also looks like a Russian leaf.
Bless you Jill, your tutorial is the only one I find I could follow, trust me I have tried following others. I had given up on this, so thank you very much for your tutorial. Now for the complaint I'm sure I knew the correct word before I subscribed to your Channel. Now I drive everyone mad by saying 'sticky outy' I don't even try the proper word anymore 'sticky outy' sounds so right...LOL. Peace Stella
Thank you. This is the first tutorial I can understand too. I suggest having a longer tail to begin with to save the steps of weaving back through to start on the other side.
You Ma'am are simply amazing! I love all your videos - I like that you have added the extra screen so that we can see you as well as the detailed instructions!!! Happy holidays and Huge Hugs!
Editted to add: I'm officially using this term when doing peyote :) On an additional note, just want to say a big THANK YOU for this video. I took a class on Russian leaves years ago, but didn't quite get it. I've tried learning by at least one book and some tutorials, but had now luck. THIS tutorial brought it all together for me! Consider me subscribed
Love your videos. They are so clear. I have done the Russian Leaf with another video, but am going to try your video. I have found you can make these Russian leaves stand up by using a coat of Johnson Pledge Floor Care multi-surface finish. I paint these on with a brush and usually use 2 coats. For an earring this works wonderful. I have had so many compliments on the black and silver one I have made. Thanks for your wonderful tutorials. They are excellent!!
Jill - LOVE you and your teaching skills! I can't tell you how much I've learned from you! :-) But I have to share this with you. I've found a much, Much, MUCH easier way to start the "Russian Leaf". Follow your instructions to the letter, except for the very beginning. Instead of starting off with a single strand of beads and adding the second row to begin peyote, start off with two needles - one at each end of your thread (of course) and do a strip of right-angle weave to the length you want!! The only change is that instead of crossing threads to complete each unit of RAW, take both threads through the final bead that completes the unit, then pick up with your instructions to begin the actual diagonal peyote. This also leaves a thread at the end of each side of the finished leaf that enables you to close the leaf and avoid having to sew back and forth down to the center to begin the other side. Works like a DREAM!!!!!
I love your tutorial , I startedfirst my beading work watching your tutorial and I got success from the first trial , it gave me a assurance that I can do more complicated works like this one , thanks a lot .
Thank you very much for this video and explaining it so well. I tried another tutorial video but gave up. Next time I´m trying a new project, I will visit your channel again 🙂
you have just made this one of my favs. you make this a lot easier then it looked. I was having trouble making the peyote stitch so was afraid to try it . I realize that the beads I would have first tried it with were not the best of quality and have since acquired some better beads and that too has made a difference too. thank you
Jill, You're so generous with your knowledge! Thank you for sharing this information. It's something I've wanted to attempt for a while, but now, I believe I can do it with this video!
Jill...So glad I found you!!! Hahaha :-) You make everything so clear! Thank you so much for this. I am not good at reading written tutorials but love the visuals/videos :-) Very few who do videos do them as well as you do :-) A ka-zillion thanks for sharing your time & expertise! ♥
I make & sell these a lot instead of weaving back down after you finish one diagonal side. If you make your thread long when putting on your stop bead just place it in the middle of the thread, then when you get to the other side just pull out your stop bead thread the needle on the thread & start your peyote down the middle row. :) I also dip mine in floor wax to make them stiff it dries clear never flakes :)
Thank you 😀your instruction are wonderful I will always look for instruction back any one esle... I tried and tried to do this project on other instruction thank you thank you You a amazing teacher
I have wanted to do these since I started bead weaving, just have't have the guts to do them. I thought they were too hard. Apparently they are not. I may have to interrupt my current project and make a pare of earrings! I love your youtube channel. You've taught me a lot. Thank you.

Hi Jill! Love this tutorial! I felt the same frustration when I was trying to find instructions for the Russian Leaf. I finally found one, and I got by, lol. Your instructions, however, are so clear and succinct. Thank you for making this so much easier. P.S. I love to show you a picture of what I ended up with.
Jill! I’m so grateful to have found this tutorial! I’m trying to make an angel that is primarily Russian leaf, an Etsy pattern from an Italian designer. Sadly, the English translation isn’t very clear, to me anyway. Your video will help me be successful in making a bunch of the angels for our 2018 Christmas tree and for gifts. Thanks so much!
Love these! Now I am off to buy the proper beads! My brain sticks on looking for the "sticky outties" to always know where the next bead goes. Great job, as usual!
I haven't done a russian leave for a long time but with your tutorial it came right back to me. Thank you for the great tutorial.
