  • A video from long ago when MTV broadcast from Marvel's offices for a couple of hours.
    MTV put all the people with the long hair on screen. If you freeze frame at about 1:36 you can see my anglerfish devil-lock piece of hair cascading from my forehead. Those were the days!

    So cool. Man, Marvel Comics from the late 70's through the early 90's were so good. Maybe it's simply nostalgia on my part, but I really loved that whole era. Thanks for posting, my friend.

    When kids see mullets like that in 1980s period drama, they don't believe they really existed. I'm glad this footage exists to prove to them that this fashion was real.

      +Mercy's Little Show Production guys didn't get their names in too many comics but you can occasionally find mine is the "Special Thanks" section of a few collected editions. That and I was in an issue of Marvel Age. Someday I'm also going to have to show off my own self-published comic that a few artist friends and I did in the late 90s. That was not a great time to be making a small press comic I gotta say.

    Wow, cool man! I love this! It's so 90's! Totally tubular! Cowabunga and so on...
    No but seriously, thanks for sharing this fun little video with all of us Jared! Nice to see a peak into the past when things at Marvel were so very different. Man, there used to be a time when Marvel actually cared about the X-Men comics and used any means they could come up with to sell those books. It's mind blowing when you compare it to the modern Marvel that would rather sell readers anything but X-Men (or F4). How things have changed...

      It certainly was a different world before the age of the internet, smart phones, and social media. No one had a little screen to stare at or phone to talk on as the walked the streets of Manhattan or sat in Bryant Park. Now that's so common as to be unremarkable. And very few people had cameras and video recorders with them in daily life. Now everybody takes pictures all the time.

    • @JaredOsborn
      @JaredOsborn  8 років тому

      +sleepyreader666 Oddly my hair only got referred to as a mullet long after I grew it all out (it was too weird and punked out in real life to be called a mullet). I used to get miffed when people would say "You used to have a mullet" and point out to them that they were only calling it that because that was the sole name then knew for a man's haircut. That only encouraged them to laugh more so instead I started shouting at them "The mullet is the people's haircut and you big city snobs will NEVER understand it". After I did that a few times people never brought it up anymore. Sometimes reason doesn't work!

    Wait a minute... women working in the Marvel offices 25 years ago? No, that can't be right. Gender inclusion is suppose to be a lamentable sigh on the persistently out-of-reach horizon, not something that has been ongoing for decades. This is making it hard for me to feel indignant... By the way, since 1991 I have remained captive to the belief that my 6th grade friend Nathan Timpson was the only person on the f'n planet who was unflinchingly bold enough to sport that hair. I now stand corrected. Well played, 1992 Jared. Well played.
