  • Hey there! Let’s have a chat about a topic that’s close to my heart: baby names. It's been on my mind for quite some time, and I've been itching to share our journey with you.
I want to talk about those baby names we love but didn’t use, for one reason or another. Names that whispered to our souls but didn't quite make the cut.
In this video, join me as we explore some beautiful baby girl names we love but didn’t use, names we considered that even touched on the emotional aspect of naming a baby after a miscarriage. It's a discussion that really brings tears, but it's so important to remember and honor the little souls that have touched our lives, even if only briefly.
So, what amount of thought went into choosing a name for our baby? Let me share with you a few considerations for baby names, the struggles we had to deal with - especially emotionally. I’m telling you guys, it’s hard to choose a baby name!
And surely, I’ve made sure not to forget the juicy part - our babies' almost names! These are the monikers that came so close to being the ones our daughters would forever be known by. It's a tale of almosts and what-ifs.
But wait, there's more! Stick around for a truly special story about our precious angel babies. I'll do my best to share it to you without breaking down. No promises, though!
So, if you're in the midst of the oh-so-challenging task of naming your own baby, or you're just here for some baby name ideas and inspiration, this video is for you. We'll dive deep into what we considered when naming our babies, including our angel baby, whose real name holds a special place in our hearts.
Come and join me on this personal journey through baby names, love, and loss.

Hey, I think it goes, "Lights, camera, action!" haha. You said it so confidently and I love that.

I love names that have strong sentimental meaning. I like the pride that I see in people who explain that they were named to honor someone.
We had planned on naming our first son after two of his great-grandfathers. My husband and I both had a wonderful relationship with our maternal grandfathers, but we also both lost them when we were very young.
Our son's first name was going to be the first thing that comes to mind when we think of those men. So his name first was going to be Isaac, which means laughter.
His middle name was going to be George-Earl, my husband's grandfather and my grandfather respectively.
Unfortunately we were unable to keep a pregnancy past the first trimester, so we never had a child born. But we still love that name.

Aila might have broken your rule anyway, because I'd have pronounced it Ayla. And I had a friend growing up who was pronounced the same but spelled Islay. I've also seen Isla, so would have used one of those for spelling. But beautiful name anyway. Hazel is one of my faves. I had an aunty Hazel, and then named a cat Hazel (which is a high compliment - both my sons also got names that one of my cats had first). :)

Good thing we didn't go with that!! 🤣 I wonder if that's what made us eliminate it. We tried to be careful to look up meanings 😋

I think trying to get a name without a lot of spelling variations is a lost cause. My last name is a literal English word and people constantly misspell and mispronounce it. I've learned from experience that plenty of people just can't read 😂

It's ironic part of your criteria was names easily pronounced/spelled but almost went with Aila which many would likely mispronounce and misspell 😅

All those names are beautiful! I've got a funny almost-name story from my family too. Before my younger brother came out as transgender, my mom almost named him Charlotte at birth. My grandmother (her mother) protested by reason of "everyone will just call [him] Charlie! You don't want that!" When he finally came out and chose his name, he chose Cameron "Cam" as his new name. He had zero knowledge of his almost-name, and when we all heard this story I could not stop laughing! It just worked too well to be a coincidence. Our oldest brother is Samuel as well, so Sam and Cam is just fun to say. As the middle child of course I have the odd name out 😂 I chose Oaklen when I came out as trans myself, several years prior to my brother.
