I used to be a buyer in the Far East. We would buy a bag from i.e. NEXT, take it to the Chinese, they would reproduce exactly the same spec/quality (with a few subtle changes). You would pay £60 in NEXT for that bag - I would buy it for less than US$10.00 FOB. I suppose the qty's of scale are similar to a brand like Squale for instance.

Man I love seagull. The chronograph with the power reserve was actually used in an early 200s times watch
Only wish they would sell movements here to Canada.
One day I hope I could design my own watch as well

Dude!!! You're killing me muting out all of the pricing info!
I REALLY want to know the price per lot and style.
I'm in medicine. I don't want to buy and sale watches or anything else for that matter, but being slightly OCD, I like playing with the math and wondering "what if?"
Good looking watches you're choosing, but mostly dressy. Pick some meaty aggressive sport watches too.
I have 5 Rolexes, 2 subs, a GMT Master ii, 1655 explorer and a 116516 Daytona. I'm not a Patek or AP guy.

Agree with you 100% I get emails everyday people with big day dreams thinking they can click few keys on the computer buy things from china for $1 and sell for $100. 99.9% people don't have the backing. The ones who do go to China think as soon as they walk out of the airport there will be people waiting for them and all the factorys are right outside. Many fall for the Chinese YES. I love China spend half my time there but going business there is not as easy as people dream.

It’s extra important to me that my parts/designs remain unique and only available through me. Do you have any more tips/resources you can share for dealing with asian manufacturers? Yes i saw your comment about a comparison with an eta. Till few years ago even the best manufacturers had QC issues, which let them down a bit, but this has changed now I think. As a curio keep your eyes out for a vintage plated Titoni, they wereavailable in China & hugely expensive just after the cultural revolution. I think they may have been passed off or mistaken as Tudors.

Talking about starting a watch brand in China and then keep your name registered, well for a matter of fact I rather just try to start giving jobs in the USA and get some parts from Switzerland or Japan and put them together.
Brand like Shinola and others has done that.
Yeah as I have seen some big US car companies making a car in China and turns out better quality than their American made counterparts.
In that case I rather push American than drive Chinese.
In one way or the other is time to support your local industry than yet not to buy much imports.

I have some bad news but if you’re serious about setting up a brand you have to go to China and NOT do it all online. Alibaba / aliexpress forget it. If you're expecting sit at home click a few keys on your computer order from alibaba this time next year you will be rich. If it was that easy everyone would do it. Alibaba /
aliexpress over priced they are not factories they are people what we call iPhone office agents. They basically run there business from a iPhone take your order then order from the factory add there % and ship to you. What will you do if they send you the watches and they don't work or take your money and run? If you want to be lazy and go the Alibaba /aliexpress over priced road then good luck to you. Let me know how it works out.

I like videos out of China, showing how it is there, thus subscribed. Let us know when you're ready to start selling your brand, i might get one for myself. Maybe bold colours and finishes but not too gimmicky, certainly no duplicate or non-functional dials, though with date/day would be fine for me, but i understand that doesn't reflect the average European, then again, no idea what does! Mechanical automatic movement; if it's half-way reliable, a Chinese one would be OK, especially if it's more original than ETA-clone.
I'd totally go for Quarts if they can make it where a seconds hand is sweeping, akin to Bulova. Even better if they can have a solar cell making up the face or dynamic generator from a rotor. Technically, either should work based on energy requirements, and it's actually possible to drill holes in solar cells and have them remain operational.
Just speaking my mind - i'm the opposite of an authority on fashion or anything, so take it how you like. Well i am a tech nerd and engineer though.

The only reason why I watched a bit of this video was to know the prices. You muted them a few times and you pissed me off.

Tell me what watch you want to make then I will make a video show everyone your cost and how much money you will make from your buyers. I'm sure you want to tell everyone your cost so when you offer your watch for $1000 and you paid $1 they will rush to buy the $1 watch for $1000.

Believe it or not, China can make some very good watches. Seagull is a reputable movement manufacturer, and they're China-based. Granted, getting those movements lately isn't really cost effective. You're better off going with Seiko or Miyota movements, which are Japanese, and getting the case, dial, band and packaging manufactured in China, and the final product assembled in China. There are a couple brands, such as Guanqin and Cadisen, that use these movements and have some high quality watches available as low as $50 with Sapphire crystal and all stainless steel case/strap. Unfortunately, the over all design of their watches leaves much to be desired. But if they can do it at a $50 price point, there's no reason someone else couldn't do it with a better design at a $100 price point. Keep spending $8,000+ on watches that cost $250 to manufacture, though. Rolex loves it when you drink their Kool Aid and let their ADs hold your warranty card for 12 months to give you the impression they're trying oh so hard to stop the flippers from selling you the watch at twice the MSRP because Rolex created artificial scarcity.
