How to produce cams on an engineers lathe

I devised a method for making cams by copying a pattern. These are for a model of the stamper batteries that were used here for crushing quartz for the extraction of gold from the mines. A previous episode showed how the cams were designed using technical drawing method.
There is an older video of the model itself and a full-sized stamper battery.
Next I will make one about cutting the keyways for the cam shaft.

Thanks. Yes it was a real challenge. It would have been easier with a hacksaw and file, but that would have spoiled the challenge!
Yesterday I took the model stamper battery to the gold mine where they have a full-sized working, 3 stories high stamper with hammers that weigh half a ton, and two stationary steam engines. Kids love to crank the handle of the model and watch the hammers. They even put rocks in it and crush them to powder making quite a noise. So it is really popular with kids and adults alike.
