So I have come to this conclusion ... the diary is a set of indispensable master classes on things necessary to be a great musician applied to the dulcimer. You will never never get most of this stuff unless you take private lessons. Not at a festival. Not at a jam. Not in most dulcimer books. Not in vast amounts on the internet. We all need to be grateful that Steven at this point in his life has decided to do it. THANK YOU!
❤I TOTALLY AGEE!
Wow, what good information. My three main takeaways (not that there are not many more - just what hits me now) are: 1) multiple tunings and multiple dulcimers with different strings for the tunings, 2) learning music is work and I should not get discouraged because I can not just play something right off, and the best one - this one applies to all aspects of life - turn down the heat. What wisdom. Thank you for these diaries.
Yes!! “Real people doing real things the real way.” I think more and more people are hungry for this, which is why it’s so important that we all keep doing what we are doing (with our dulcimers) 🙂
I found the Randy Wilkinson book on Etsy-Divergent Luthier. Looks like there’s just a few left.
I found an old music book on the internet by Randy W. with Elizabethan music.
I’m very interested in a copy. I need a challenge.
Amazon has a couple of them.
Beautiful!
