  • I got this blow torch from a friend of mine.
    This is a very rare vintage blow torch that is used to start the engines of USSR Soviet army heavy tanks during the World War 2. The mark on it says "XPOM 32,42 MB BLC2787-70 10-1977 1L" Which indicates the name of the brand is CROM and it is made in 1977
    I gave it a new look, I hope you enjoy this blow torch restoration XPOM.
    I will need you help at the end of the video. Please share your thoughts in the comments.

    I use one of these from time to time. The pan must pre heat the torch head for a few minutes. If not then it won't burn correctly. There should be a stream of fuel coming out when pumped up and valve is open.

      I filled the pan twice and let it burn for a couple of minutes. I will try it a couple more times and will let you know. Thanks a lot.

    Doesn't that sort of pump mechanism require you to pull back the plunger and then slowly push forward to force the fuel through? Thanks for your videos, I enjoy watching them!

      Hi, thanks for watching. Actually it is a strainer. Its purpose is to filter the particles so the flame would run flawless.

    What is the solution you are soaking the parts in?

    I like your effort, and the end result is beautiful; but if it doesnt work it's not restored. Maybe someone below can help, but you need to do your own research before posting.

    didn't these old torches use white gas?

    • @restorationmania
      @restorationmania  Рік тому +1

      I think you mean kerosene. I also tried with it but still didn't work.

    • @KE8NKO_Radio
      @KE8NKO_Radio Рік тому +1

      @@restorationmania nope, didn't mean kerosene. White gas is different. It burns more efficient and is what was used in old torches.

    I am watching your restoration, noticed the vice (orange) you r using is not restored, the finishing is very poor
    Thanks.

      What do you mean by poor finish? I used it many times after I restored it, so it is normal to look worn out. Have you watched the video? Please explain, how you would like to see it. Thanks for your comment
