There are some rabbis who hold the opinion she was 3, however that view has been refuted over years by other rabbis who follow that this was unrealistic and she could have been in her teens because she is mentioned doing things a 3 year old wouldn’t do such as drawing gallons of water from a well, carrying gallons of water to feed camels all by herself and having conversations with people. She was also referred to as a “woman” compared to other individuals referred to as “infants”, there is a distinction. Rabbis and anyone in general can have an opinion, doesn’t mean it’s right.

Some rabbis in it debated she was 14. As i said people can have different opinions. The Torah doesn’t state her age so no one knows as fact, but most Jewish people believe it’s more likely she was older in her teens and that talmudic oral tradition isn’t always reliable. There are even some Jews who reject the Talmud completely like Karaite Judaism. As i mentioned the talmud is just a debate book, not fact, and people can either agree with it or critique what they believe to be wrong or innacurate. Some fringe rabbis may believe that argument, but most Jews and scholars do not.

That is not the argument for the law in Islam, that is the argument for the age and maturity during that time. The age in Islamic law is not set; it is a physical and mental requirement that, physically is the same today but mentally, very different as you will not find young adults now being mentally prepared when also physically prepared. When physical and mental maturity are reached, after that time, Muslims can decide to get married (with their consent). At physical maturity, at puberty they are accountable to the laws of Islam, their deeds are recorded and they can get married (In Judaic Laws this is 12, Christian law, the earliest was puberty by Christians like to change their laws so it changed throughout time but originally had no minimum age). During that time period it was normal, girls got married the world over between 9-12, as early as they could to maximize fertility which we know from modern science today declines in the late 20s. The higher up in class someone was, the earlier they would get married, as close to puberty as possible as when a girl could conceive a child she was no longer considered a child (naturally, literally, biologically). But it being the normal age is NOT what justifies it. The legislation from God justifies it. It fits for all times and places and is individual to the person. Puberty is still the same age now, and while many young adults are not mature at puberty, or prepared to be married and take on responsibilities, many WERE then. So this allows women in every time and place to decide when they want to get married after they find themselves mature to who they want and not be held back by a set numerical age or the subjective opinion of the people of the time who don't know better than God. This legislation fits perfectly in with the idea of an eternal God who knew the past and present as it is suitable for all times, and does not need to change for different places, cultures and people but can be applied in any time individually suitable for everyone.

There are some rabbis who hold the opinion she was 3, however that view has been refuted over years by other rabbis who follow that this was unrealistic and she could have been in her teens because she is mentioned doing things a 3 year old wouldn’t do such as drawing gallons of water from a well, carrying gallons of water to feed camels all by herself and having conversations with people. She was also referred to as a “woman” compared to other individuals referred to as “infants”, there is a distinction. Rabbis and anyone in general can have an opinion, doesn’t mean it’s right.

The Torah doesn’t state her age so no one knows as fact, but most Jewish people believe it’s more likely she was older in her teens and that talmudic oral tradition isn’t always reliable. There are even some Jews who reject the Talmud completely like Karaite Judaism.

That is not the argument for the law in Islam, that is the argument for the age and maturity during that time. The age in Islamic law is not set; it is a physical and mental requirement that, physically is the same today but mentally, very different as you will not find young adults now being mentally prepared when also physically prepared. When physical and mental maturity are reached, after that time, Muslims can decide to get married (with their consent). At physical maturity, at puberty they are accountable to the laws of Islam, their deeds are recorded and they can get married (In Judaic Laws this is 12, Christian law, the earliest was puberty by Christians like to change their laws so it changed throughout time but originally had no minimum age). During that time period it was normal, girls got married the world over between 9-12, as early as they could to maximize fertility which we know from modern science today declines in the late 20s. The higher up in class someone was, the earlier they would get married, as close to puberty as possible as when a girl could conceive a child she was no longer considered a child (naturally, literally, biologically).
But it being the normal age is NOT what justifies it. The legislation from God justifies it. It fits for all times and places and is individual to the person. Puberty is still the same age now, and while many young adults are not mature at puberty, or prepared to be married and take on responsibilities, many WERE then. So this allows women in every time and place to decide when they want to get married after they find themselves mature to who they want and not be held back by a set numerical age or the subjective opinion of the people of the time who don't know better than God. This legislation fits perfectly in with the idea of an eternal God who knew the past and present as it is suitable for all times, and does not need to change for different places, cultures and people but can be applied in any time individually suitable for everyone.

Found this video by accident but you had some strong arguments. Generally agreed with everything you said. I have come to look at history as a complex issue and I try to look at it in the context of the times, but even so, in those times, people knew wrong was wrong even if they were in the minority, in those times. For example, the founding fathers of america are complex characters great and flawed men, like Washington & Jefferson. T😢hey gave us America but they also owned slaves, and even in their time there were men like John Adams who were disgusted by the practice of slavery. Even if Adams was in the minority, people knew the practice was wrong, so Ive come to the conclusion that history is complicated, but we cant dismiss misdeeds simply as “thats how it was back then”. Muhammad in his heart knew what he was doing. He was taking advantage of a child when he forced her to have sex at 9 years old.
