Beautiful English music, complimented by beautiful English peasant farming scenes. It could almost be anywhere in Northern Europe 150 years ago. We were a good looking people back then, weren't we! Sadly gone forever.
Thank you David, shews the unremitting hardness of agricultural Life no that long ago, I'll only be 78 at Christmas and living deep in the West Country I too remember the hard Work at Harvest Time and Haymaking, going round the corners of the Field with a Western Scythe, and how heavy the Bales were under the Hedge after baling, and the work of loading the Trailers with the Bales off the Field and that was easy compared to the Work 20 Years afore. RVW outstanding, gey wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
I'm listening and it transports me away...even though I'm riding with my beloved Dark Horse!!!... Your job is a dream Mr.Harris!!!...I greet you from my field my Bighouse"...👱♀️🐎❗️🤝❗️....my respects to you❗️
@@davidharris2844 Yes, Mr. Harris...I have no words to thank you for every time I hear them and you transport me to my imagination...fantastic!!!...see you soon...a cordial greeting...Malena✨️🐎👱♀️❗️
Possibly one of my favourite musical pieces. There is never a dull moment and it always manages to trigger something deep within my soul. As always accompanied by gorgeous paintings, by an artist I was unfamiliar with. Thank you once again.
David you’ve done it again with the perfect match of music and pictures. One of the early ones used on the CD cover of RVW early chamber music including his wonderful piano quintet. The very soul of Englishness. Thank you so much and as one of your subscribers so rightly says, perfect for Sunday morning reflections....before Church.
Glad you enjoyed it Philip. I've used Sir George Clausen's paintings to accompany other pieces by Vaughan Williams - obviously this is a subjective choice, but they seem to suit to my way of thinking.
This piece definitely feels ahead of its time. it has a true cinematic feeling to it. I would do anything to hear it performed live someday. thank you as always for the upload!!
David, If you ever find yourself in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District, let me know and call in for a cup of tea or a cold beer, you'd be most welcome. Kindest regards Lee.
We used part of this, (with appropriate permissions), as background music to the opening narrative of a film we made about our local Territorial Battalion and the Gallipoli Campaign. It is such a beautifully observed piece of music and set the tone very very well.
Glad you enjoyed it Des. I'm rather keen on Sir George Clausen's paintings, as you might have guessed from my use of them in other uploads. Hope you are keeping well.

This beautiful work is one of many reasons why RVW was England's greatest 20th. century composer!

I love this piece and have listened to it many times on the Master and Commander movie soundtrack.
Tragic sound - like the Aftermath of Stalingrad or some other tragic event.
