Im an urban planner by trade. Everytime I watch your videos it inspires me to head back into uni to pursue architecture. As always, great presentation.
Good insight into the obstacles you've encountered along with the competition process as a whole. I know my bosses have shied away from competitions like this because of the time / free work aspects of it but I think there is merit in this side of things as any potential exposure even if you're not the actual winner could lead onto future clients seeing your work and taking on your practice for their next project in the same sense as local / regional / nationwide design award entries if your local council region runs them?
Sorry fella. I don't believe em. Competitions are a skewed system where the owner has the right to pull the plug on the project any time or select his mate from the pub as the winning project. I applaud you for your dedication, and with places but unfortunately, the industry really loves free work in architecture. Remind me of my 'internship' period and this seems like just another intern role.
Absolutely spot on this, sadly. We often use competitions to break from periods of delivery projects to get the creative juices flowing, with no expectation on winning the thing or gaining a serious commission.
