    OMG That tunnel freaked me out. I could not have travelled through there! Hmmm, your 'heron' voiceover had me in stitches! & what can I say, quite clearly your leg was infected - I don't know how they could ignore that?

    Hi Skip. Hope you get back your “canal legs” soon.Paul Middleton was a old neighbour of mine and I last spoke to him in Harrogate last year. His brother Phil was a very good artist and blues mouthiest player! Take care shipmate. Hutchinson RN.

      By the way how’s the leg? The merchant navy have a term for a one legged sailor who’s only duty was to clean up and make scran! He was called a Peggy !

    Me again........ You got the "Stannidge " pronunciation spot on. H-o-w-e-v-e-rrrrr....later in the series you committed the cardinal sin - well , it's cardinal 'round them parts, but optional in the real world - of "Slaythwaite " the locals have it as "Slawitt" , thus you marked yourself out as an out-of-towner, and , probably, shock/horror , a Lancastrian. Lucky you didn't find yourself..the guest of honour inside a rather warm wicker man !!!! Nice tunnel , tho' , innit ?

    • @talesfromtheswansneck
      @talesfromtheswansneck  4 роки тому +1

      Haha yeah these local pronunciations are a real problem. I've also heard Sowerby Bridge pronounced Sawby! But Lancastrian I ain't, so maybe I got away with it. I was thinking today I'd like to go back to the Huddersfield. Taking that on with less than 3 weeks experience on a boat was quite a challenge. I feel more equipped for it now

    No, I don’t think I could handle that claustrophobic tunnel! Good for you!

      I'll admit, it was worse than I was expecting, but now that I can steer straight I'd quite like to have a bash at it again. Hmmm maybe that's the wrong way of putting it as I bashed it enough the first time!
