That’s what typing do s for you. You type a boo boo (error), and you have to find an alternate phrase that uses that boo boo so you don’t have to correct there. To do that you really gotta have vocabulary.
You certainly will, and you'll leave fingerprints around if you're not careful. And if the next letter you type is going to someone important, you have to be careful to not mess it up with your inky fingers.
@CDash162 those of us who have typewriters, let's spam him woth letters! He ignores emails and defeats the point. Those of us who don't ask family. Or go hunting for your first but we MUST get this going. Cuz he's got a collection we need to hear about anc in-between acting in great movies or writing or whatever very important business he has.
Wait............ did he write a book about typewriters but used a computer to do so, or did he write a book about typewriters and used a typewriter to do so, or did he just write any old book and used a typewriter to do so?
Just got my first one in D.C a few weeks ago. It's really nice, you kind of get into this daze with all the clacking and the bells where you don't think about anything else but writing.
Well The Hermes 3000 has a word in it too, I have one and gosh, compared to my other typers, it sounds just marvelous. Strange how people think the typewriter has just one sound, but each machine has it´s own sound unique to it.
Tom Hanks used to (on a type writer) make weekly letters and tell how all of the cast members were doing and he was so so caring and he still is. He did this on most of the movies he was in.
Eh, maybe. Times are tough in America right now because of a certain person or administaion. But the truth of the matter is that I love it here, and I would rather go through hard times here than the best of times anywhere else in the world.
theboywonder what a wonderful report . OK now I know why you all love him . Guess I do also . Thanks for taking the time to frigging wake me up. Sincerely
@@westworlds Oh please, you want to talk about tough times? How are you feeling now under a certain person or administration? Didn't think runaway inflation, unaffordable housing and gas, or the looming prospects of a civil war and World War 3 would follow so shortly after the mean tweets, eh?
This isthe most interesting thing I've seen on youtube in at least a month. It might be just having something kinetic being explained, rather than something virtual. It might be that Hanks is a great fit for Mr. Rogers. Great video.
William Gibson's NEUROMANCER -- the book who's author coined the term "cyberspace" and co-founded the cyberpunk genre -- was written on a Hermes 2000 typewriter, the make and model of which I have scoured the Internet to find and purchase for my own collection, as yet without success. Nothing like a Hermes.
Hey, Tom, I've got a Hermes 3000 in my attic. You're more than welcome to it to put next to your already purloined Hermes 3000. I loved using the quick margins! Ingenious.
This guy is the reason people think a Hermes 3000 is worth over $700 a piece. They’re not. They’re some of the most common machines in the world, and if you ask me, even the people asking $200 for one are smoking dope.
They might not be worth it, and the people might be smoking dope, but they're still getting big bucks for them. They're selling for even more now than when you wrote your comment.
Love the sound of typewriters. Loooove it. I've a 1940s Underwood typewriter myself and oh gosh, does it sound nice. Gives you a nice workout too - you really gotta hammer down those keys to get a good print.
He's an actor. How can you say he's down to earth when you don't even know him. Most of these people put on a fake face for the camera (as if it's their job) but are really assholes in real life
I love how Tom Hanks collects vintage typewriters......and his son Colin collects vintage LPs and record players Plus I am impressed that he can actually type with all ten fingers....on a manual typewriter its not an easy task!
@@scootergrant8683 I also had a course in high school in Germany.......but just a basic one were we exercise our finger movement........we didnt pursue this course and now we mostly forgot about that ....typing with ten fingers!
If you ever buy a type writer, and need a "how to replace a ribbon" tutorial... Watch this lol... Forget the rest of the UA-cam tutorials, Tom Hanks explains it all😂🤣😂❤️👏👏
Me and Mr Tom Hank! have identical talent.. I'm so proud of myself not everyone in this world knows how to change ribbon in typewriter! And the sound of it is just music to my ears.. 🤣🔥🤩
I did some of my school homework and because of the extremity of the enjoyment I received with it I decided to add in as many words as possible to the extent it lost its read-ability.
What I do when changing the ribbon of my typewriter is have a wet wipe handy and when I'm done wipe the ink off my fingers. Hand sanitizer works just as well. That way you avoid getting fingerprints over everything.
I used to repair typewriters in the 70s. After a while, manual typewriters were hard to find to repair because by that time electric typewriters and, especially, IBM Selectrics were what every typist wanted. Anybody remember the BUG adjustment?

This is poetry.
not the danger It is, indeed!
Ya, saya bisa merasakan penderitaan itu...
Was he reading a script he wrote? I'm guessing yeah because that's very well said in a short amount of time.
Yes it is woody.
He did woody 's voice soo..
"It's the cadence of creativity...the percussion of punctuation." What a wordsmith.

"You will get ink on your fingers, Deal with it." Lol. I will remember that forever
Dirty fingers are half the fun!!

HE IS SUCH A NERD, I LOVE HIM
He's America's dad
Definitely better than the dad we deserve! We're so lucky to have him. *gush*
And woody
I have never heard this man ever described more perfectly.
As a typewriter enthusiast I’d like to start a petition in favor of Tom Hanks starting a typewriter review UA-cam channel
Ohmg. Must happen.
I dont care if your comment was 4 years ago I too am up for the Tom Hanks Typewriter channel.
“Well it’s certainly no Hermes 3000 but it’s functions adequately for its purpose.”
Yes, please!

Close your eyes. You’re in toy story. It’s woody talking.
xXGaM3eRe000Xx i can’t tell if your being serious or sarcastic 😂
Cloe Lol Tom Hanks is the voice of Woody in Toy Story. But Woody talks louder than Tom Hanks so you could only hear Woody at some points
Snatched. Yes I know that but I was replying to xXGaM3eRe00Xx... I don’t think you understood what I meant
Woody got old
I only on wish some amazing animator could remake this whole video so it was woody changing a typewriter ribbon!
He’s wise but slightly chaotic at the same time, I love it.
Tom Hanks has said in previous interviews that he actually collects typewriters. So cool!
Yeah but when i say that I collect typewriters its not so cool, isnt it?
Anyone that collects typewriters is cool. Typewriters are the bee's knees!
He wrote a book on typewriters.
Wait............ did he write a book about typewriters but used a computer to do so, or did he write a book about typewriters and used a typewriter to do so, or did he just write any old book and used a typewriter to do so?
Check out California Typewriter. It's a documentary about lovers of typewriters. It was produced by Tom Hanks, if I'm not mistaken.
I don't even have a typewriter but I still watched the whole video. That's what Tom Hanks does to you :/
Just got my first one in D.C a few weeks ago. It's really nice, you kind of get into this daze with all the clacking and the bells where you don't think about anything else but writing.
Dude, no one watch this for typewriter tips.
He made me feel like an archeologist, watching an ancient man reviewing ancient technology.
I used to have a Olympus travel typewriter, which I used very often ( before I got my first computer )
I mean its three minutes man, dont act like its an hour
He could narrate VCR programming instructions and I'd enjoy it
That typing is the best ASMR sound ever.
Xavier Rosado second best is Tom Hanks' voice.
Well The Hermes 3000 has a word in it too, I have one and gosh, compared to my other typers, it sounds just marvelous. Strange how people think the typewriter has just one sound, but each machine has it´s own sound unique to it.

the distinctive voice of Tom Hanks and a beautiful typewriter. Soothing

See "California Typewriter" w Hanks and other typewriter-lovin folks. A real treat!
The setting, along with the attitude is super cool and absurd. Which reminds me "Absurd is hard to do well" . He does it well.
That look he gives the camera when he’s pushing the carriage back over 😂😂
Ahh!! An old typist’s occupational hazard: The old carriage return throwback stare.
California typewriter was a superb enlightening experience ! Superb !
Tom Hanks being woody's voice never truly clicked until now.
finally, I can use my typewriter again
Hipster.
mobspeak what if we just like typewriters
Never stopped!!

Because of Mr. Tom Hanks I bought my typewriter and and I love every single detail about it.

Someone needs to make a movie about typewriters and cast tom hanks
A life lesson for all of us.

Typewriter changer is how I was introduced to Tom Hanks, only found out later he also acts
Got my typewriter today. Very excited. Now just need to wait for the fresh ink rolls to come in 😀

Cadence of creativity.
Tom Hank's typewriters name is corona lol
Love Tom Hanks, he is an idol, an international treasure, and most of all he is the type of person that you can't hate no matter how hard you try.
I was taught this in junior high...ahhh this brings back so many memories!
Tom Hanks can type with TEN fingers!!! Well, that is his true secret talent.
Tom Hanks is sunshine in human form.
Whoever came up with this idea, you have my applause.
I love how Tom Hanks collects vintage typewriters......and his son Colin collects vintage LPs and record players

Aah!! Touch-typing, yes-I remember it. I have a 1947 Remington with blank key tops. You can’t look at the keys and tell by sight. It’s all touch.
Simply perfection.
I still have my old Contessa portable typewriter that I bought secondhand in the 1980s and I love using it.
Tom is the reason I’m currently hunting for a typewriter. They are wonderful, but harder and harder to find
Did you find one yet? I have 3 or 4. I might be able to part with one.
He looks like my dad whose a lawyer that still insists on using a typewriter instead of a computer.
I bought a Hermes 3000 after watching this video. Excited to give it a try!

Oh man I actually miss these things. Remember writing without the temptation of going online? That's why all writing was better back then.
