It's definitely worth keeping the ones you like, because you can definitely use them as a basis to draft them yourself. You have the detailed line drawings and pattern pieces, so you can see exactly how it's supposed to look: you also have the written instructions, so you don't have to puzzle it out (ask me how I know!🤣): so you're already two thirds of the way there! And you could absolutely do this for Butterick 4513 (3 before the end I think), so then you don't need to spend stupid sums on another copy! I have faith in you!! Lynne 🤩☘️
I think when you feel curious enough about a pattern, just have a go at a mock up and treat it as an experiment/learning experience ❤be process focused not outcome focused. Love your collection, have some of them myself, would happily watch you make them all 😊
I have destashed my patterns too many times and even repurchased some I missed and now I have a collection of some I will never likely make but they make me smile when I take them out to look at them.... and dream😊❤❤❤I'm strict paring down everything else in my life.... but not my patterns. lol
Back in the early 2000's, I made V2903 for each of my 5 daughters. 2 red, 2 green, and one old - all brocade satin with black velvet neckline trim. I don't remember it being terribly difficult or I would've given up. I also have a couple of size versions of the pattern. I have a few other of the Vogues and Buttericks you have - and the Butterick you want from ages ago is available here in the US for about $10 or less and free shipping. Shipping to the UK is about $20, which works out to about £23 as the exchange rate is in your favor. If you ever want one let me know.
I've made the McCall's 430. It was a pain. I hung it in my closet the let it settle the bias before I hemed it, and not gone back to hem it. 3 years later. I will finish the hem....some day, and hopefully wear it.
I have been wanting to recreate a bias cut linen sleeve-less dress. The Ritz dress done sleeveless might work. Still looking for a pattern! Thanks for inspiration and good to see you!
When you said you can't get a copy of Butterick 4513 in your current size, I immediately thought that you could try drafting a version based on your sloper. Seems Lynne also had the same idea!
A collection section is such a good idea! So many of the vintage patterns are just plain beautiful and I think would make a fun option for decorating a sewing room (or any room really). I might have to start a rotation of some of my vintage patterns as art!
Ooo. I’ve got the B5209 and recently tried to use it for someone but she was much larger busted and I think it’s a small size I will never fit in. But would I ever destash it? Probably not. I feel your struggle Sian. ❤❤
You neeeeed to make the Lamour dress. I've made 3 - it's just been drafted to perfection. I am in their H Cup range and I can go bra less because of all the shaping and support you get from properly constructing the bodice.
I always enjoy snooping through a collection of pretty patterns, so this was a lovely way to spend my morning! May I call dibs on the 8259, please? I thought I had that in one of my magazines, but it’s not on my list - which is incomplete so I have to double check. Which lead to an epiphany about how I could make that magazine collection easier to search with less effort on my part. Double win! ❤
Oooh I would LOVE it if you did the Butterick 6212 modified with a zipper sew along! I have admired that pattern, but don't have the courage to make it "as is".
Gertie's boned dresses you can go braless with in a pinch because of the structure but perfectionists will prefer a bra. Also the day and night dress is so much for printing, I got a projector for the same price as printing and I don't need to print again. It's best to trace from a projector if you need to make alterations but it's so worth it given you can remove size layers and if you make it as is it's such a time and money saver in the long run
I have the Butterick pattern shirt dress with the muppet pockets! Could you please make it up? I’d love to see how you go with it! I’m thinking it needs a stiffer thicker fabric ?
Hi Ive made the Ritz pleat , Melody. all seasons and Lana t dress all are so easy to make and i have a bit of a belly (damm you menopause) I urge you to make they are gorgeous. The McCalls I have been warned not to make😐
I've made 2 of view b, B6018 and love it. I didn't use the sleeve cuffs on the second dress and like it better. I've also made the walkaway dress and it was as awful as they say. Never again.
Also, I've made the dress with the yip-yip pockets. The sleeves are actually pretty short and wide. It was an easy pattern and I really like it...but now I can't unsee the yip-yips and I will have to use googly eyes!!! Maybe make in a solid red or orange...

I have made the Ritz Pleat Dress by Now and Then. Wonderful dress!
I actually found your channel because I was making the buttermilk 6018 and was struggling with the sleeves. And your sew along helped so much!❤

🤩 Butterick 5813
I like the sew over it designs but have found the shoulders are a bit small on me.
Just make the beautiful girly dresses! Then, if you find that you need a corset to support you, that will motivate you to make it
