    God i feel stupid.. i just noticed (thanks to someone pointing it out)
    360° = 6.something radiants (2pi, or "tau")
    I had no idea what i was doing in that part, or in editing, explaining that

      I used an old skin layout. Yours will look square
      But that doesnt change the fact that you need to line up the UVs to the bodyparts of the mesh. Same process

    Nice video and thanks for recommending my rig!
    Just a small suggestion. For hair you can turn on the "hair collection" and use the first mesh above the head to extrude the hair (delete the transparent faces first), then translate them down on the z axes (z 2.8 is the correct value). On the head mesh below you can then change the uvs so that it will only display the skin if you already have an extruded mesh of the hair.
    I hope it helps!

      Wasn't aware of that, but I'm pinning the comment, so it's more visible
      I recommended the rig, because it proved to be great - It was my main character rig/model for a cover song I did for PewDiePie's "Mine All Day", so your rig got a bit of marketing there as well :)

    I will say for anyone looking for minecraft rigs for blender there's many that already exist with their own ups and downs. Thomas's rig is nice, BPS's rig is simple, I've even released a rig (though not as clean does have more features than most) but even then there's so many,
    But also I do understand the idea of wanting a tutorial as when I started I couldn't do anything and didn't understand half of what I know now and I still have a lot to learn mostly for non mc rigs.

    37:23 ngl, when I was still a noobie beginner in blender testing out minecraft animations in blender. It would always look very weird to me that every time I’d move the mouth the textures scale with it, but I did enjoy the rig pretty much just the mouth kept me off.

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  2 роки тому +2

      I personally love it, because it looks more realistic (since it displaces the skin, like in real life)
      but it sounds like you prefer the alpha glitch technique more - perhaps there's a way to recreate it in blender 🤔

    • @ZUnknownFox
      @ZUnknownFox 2 роки тому

      @@SharpWind there is a way and it's basically using a uv warp modifier. basically this modifier allows you to control or warp a texture using another object. a common technique is to have an empty as the uv warp target and move it around until the texture fits and then parent that to the rig to keep it in place this will keep the texture looking the same at all times while allowing mesh deformations.
      or this is just 1 way I did it there could be others.

    You can actually get around issue with the 120 degree on the leg bend by having the second shape key's "Relative To" field set to the "Leg Bend" shape key as opposed to the "Basis". The only thing is I'm not sure how to set up the driver to make it activate the 2nd shape key after the 90 degree mark.

    The stretching I think is because you did cube projection selection in unwarp menu, I've never seen it and I have not done the projection unwraps.
    10:00 The vertex snapping links to vertex f the uv, there is a setting to snap to pixels somewhere, I don't remember where off the tp of my head, to snap to the image.

    Hi, great video! I got one question. When i go to extrude like you did with the arm to make the sleave extrude, it creates a bevel effect inward. It's almost like theres a setting making sure the lines stay smooth and auto curves it inward when i add the second layer of faces.
    This is probably confusing lol. I understand that the sleeves bevel out and i can reset there axis to 0, but this bevel occurs where the sleeve meets the hand if that makes sense. Would you know the fix for this?

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  Місяць тому

      There'a a bevel modifier on all the geo, i believe
      To stop this, you could assign those edges a vertex group, put the bevel modifier's "limit method" to "vertex group", select your vertex group, and click the arrow icons to invert it - so those edges wont be affected by the modifier

      In weight paint mode, you can only paint on the vertices, which are on the edges (each vertex is assigned a weight) - zhe rainbow appears between 2 vertices, as the weight transitions from 1 (red) to 0 (blue)
      I also have a little rainbow between the vertices, thats fine - as long as the vertices themselves are red. I was able to paint consistently, because i was painting directly on the vertices.
      The brush is normally soft on the edges, and it paints green and yellow (values between 0 and 1), and the constant falloff makes the edge of the brush hard, so it only paints values of 1 or nothing at all
      I hope this helps

      @@SharpWind Thanks for explaining. I understand what you said here, but thats not what I mean at all. You, had there a bright red, less green and blue. I dont have it like that. I know its supposed to look, like a rainbow but mine really LOOKS like a rainbow. And when I press G to move with that part to see, if it works correctly, it doesnt. I only stretch that part. It doesnt move that smoothly. You can imagine it like a bugged NPC in some game or, whatever. The thing is, it doesnt work. I did everything like you in the video, but no succes. Also, you can imagine my rainbow as just a shadow on smth. From the top (red) to the bottom (blue) and between it is green that is shading with those two. Can you tell me what am I supposed to do pls?

      @@SharpWind nah there are some neat effects you can make with planes and nodes that I don't really see people do much of cuz they're mostly NPR. But there's also geometry nodes you could tap into if you know how they work. Then when 3.5 comes out there's like particle geometry nodes or something.

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  2 роки тому

      @@SephticMI oh trust me, I know. The particle method can be a little bit limiting and taxing if you're using cycles (because of the transmission bounces required to render transparent planes, if you're using many. if you're using less, you're basically relying on animated textures, which is just work done in a different software - the math for doing it with nodes can be hell tho)
      Geo nodes are amazing, i love them, they make everything easier, procedural and flexible, and the 3.5 update has me excited every time i see anything about the latest Blender conference. It keeps getting better!

    Thanks for the Tutor! It's a nice introduction to intimidating blender UI (figures). I want to ask something, (may a bit rude, sorry in advance)
    as someone who suffer with blender render time, how much impact would be on my performance, if my Pc/Laptop are under-minimal requirement? (especially CPU & GPU)

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  2 роки тому

      Depends entirely on your hardware. Laptops are known to perform worse, but thanks to Cycles's optimizations in update 3.0 and the AI denoising, which requires you to render less samples, it should be much faster

      For my "worst animation project ever", i was using Maya and had the old PC (intel core i7, gtx970, 8gb ram), took me 6min per frame (arnold renderer is slower and i couldnt use denoising bc it didnt work for some reason)
      The image for this thumbnail was made in blender on my "new" pc (RTX3060, AMD ryzen 5x-5600, 16gb ram) + denoising, i got a pretty good result in 5 seconds, but i decided to render 1024 samples, so it took around 12 seconds for the whole thing
