This is my second favorite performance of this amazing song. My first favorite being the time I got to be IN the choir and nothing beats being INSIDE the progression @ 2:30 - 2:45...like, downright supernatural
I got to watch this live from our schools advanced choir and it was absolutely amazing. During the clapping parts the choir would stomp instead and it was loud and chaotic and violent just like what the song is about. The lights person would even flicker the lights a bit when that would happen. Every rendition of this piece is great but I don’t think it will ever match hearing it live with the stomping and lights.
Absolutely magnificent. I did this song years ago for states chorus and it remains as one of the greatest pieces of music I ever had the privilege to perform.
Doing this in my middle school honor choir. Such a good song, a student in our class recommended it to our teacher and she said it was to hard at first but now we're doing it on point
Dear Mr. Helgesson, congratulation again, especially for the nearly optimal (about 99%) intonation! The final cord is 100% in harmony, totally calm and clear, without any beats! WOW
I loved watching the conductor in this version. Amazing job! You might want to check out Stellenbosch University's job on this song: ua-cam.com/video/uG2M8h9zijY/v-deo.html
Everyone has their favorite performance of this piece. If you like it, you really should listen to the original premier performance by the group that originally commissioned it from Stroope. It was first performed at the Mort D. Meyerson Symphony Hall in Dallas, TX on April 2, 2002 by the Lake Highlands Freshman Center Chorale. If you don't think high school freshmen can sing, listen to this very special performance: First Public Performance of Z Randall Stroop's The Conversion of Saul
Do check out our Bright night concert at Umeå körfestival. We start 10 minutes in the video and "the Conversion of Saul" starts at roughly 54:45 minutes in. dlaplay.se/program/umea-white-night-concert/
I just noticed there's was the Lead (Rasmus Krigströmand) & Bass (Didier Linderfrom) from the RINGMASTERS at the far right and far left of the choir ! No wonder this performance was brilliant !
Charles Ingram, nice performance indeed! I'd be very proud of the freshmen performing that difficult piece! We worked hard with it and competed with it among other more or less challenging pieces in the European Grand Prix for Choral singing. A competition we againt all odds won. Here is our number (albeit with not so good sound) THE CONVERSION OF SAUL, Z. Randall Stoope - St JACOBS UNGDOMSKÖR
Oh no!! Having performed this with my choir, I feel for you my friend. I hope you get the chance to next year, because it is so much fun to work so hard on a piece and do it right!
