I was in Nice in November and it was only thanks to your videos that I was able not to fall into the ticket trap at the airport and I saved a few euros thanks to you. Your guides are very useful.
I would like to highlight here that those who are taking the train in the south of France to be extremely careful not to unknowingly board a TGV train with your regular tickets or cards. You'll be forced to pay a hefty payment for boarding the TGV unknowingly. The ticket masters on the TGV are pretty rude and are un-tolerant of these honest mistakes. They won't let you off by asking you to get off the next station, and all they're interested to do is to make you pay!😅
Sorry to hear! You're right to point this out: Make sure to look for a regional train, TER, when you're just going along the coast, like from Nice to Monaco or from Nice to Cannes for example. The tickets for high speed trains (TGV) are more expensive.
@rivierago There were several other tourists who were caught off guard, and all had to pay the hefty price. They were all pretty upset, which was totally understandable. Moreover, the TGV train was moving at very moderate speeds on that stretch of track as it was along a highly populated area. Which defeats the purpose of travelling on a bullet train. Lol😅✌️
@spencernoble5661 That's the catch. You won't know until the train starts and they start their ticket checks. What I noticed is that the TGVs have seat numbers, whereas the regional trains are free seating. Hope that helps!
I love your video!! We had mega-stress (like Gare de Nord) stress arriving in Nice and taking the tram to our hotel. Yes, we got assaulted (it was a very aggressive group of "police" who told us every mistake we made buying a ticket. This was after arriving from Canada direct, not finding one single person to help at Nice Airport, and after discussing with locals what to do, we still got it wrong. Oh yes, the machines did not sell one-way tickets that day, only round trips. Plus at most SNCF stations the machines do not work, and half the name of the stations are not possible to enter because the scroll wheel does not work. Eventually we bought the pink cards and guess what - they didn't load with a credit card unless you hold them like yoda and sit for an hour under the shade praying. And worst of all nobody we spoke to (we speak very well in French) gave us the right answer. It's shocking that the region welcomes travellers this way.
Oh goodness, sorry to read!!! It can be tricky but it is possible to use public transport around here… Should be a priority to make things easy and running smoothly where so many tourists are involved. And why people sometimes can’t be a little nicer is beyond us… hope you still had a good time!
Just booked a 5 days trip to Nice next week (hopefully the weather is as good as it looks in this video) and your videos are pure gold for someone who wasn't to France before. Thank you for all your videos regarding this beautiful city and its surroundings!
Thank you! We hope you’ll have lots of sun (today we literally had to take off what we could, since it was so warm - while they had snow in Paris 😉). The forecast is a bit iffy, but it should mostly be fine… Enjoy your stay! 🤩
@@mell6398 Hello! Most convenient for us was to buy the 2 euro card from Grand Arena after arriving at the airport. We put 6 trips on that ( 1.7e / trip + 2e the card ). Also, we traveled a lot by foot in Nice but we've also taken the bus to Monaco and Eze Village which costs around 5-7e (for 3-4 persons to Monaco) and about 1.7e/person to Eze. We've also tried the train back to Nice from Monaco and it was 5e/person but I don't recommend it as it was very crammed and full of people in the afternoon ( I believe people were coming back from work at that time :D )
Pass Sudazur is a great tip. Thank you. This ticket is great. I'm going to buy this exact ticket, it's perfect. I first heard about it here in this video.
Hello from Slovakia ! Such a helpful video, thank you for that. : ) Actually, I´m planning to visit Nice in April this year. So according to information on Nice Airport website, it is not possible to buy "SUDAZUR EXPLORE PASS" for unlimited travel for 3, 7 or 14 days directly at the airport, but according to your video it is possible ( if SUDAZUR EXPLORE PASS is actually Pass Sud Azur 3j/7j/14j ) . Quite confusing. ; )
Hi and thanks! When we were at the airport a few weeks ago, the pass was ready to buy at the machine (though we didn’t follow through and didn’t actually buy one), and on the website we consulted they don’t say it’s limited to certain times of the year: www.ter.sncf.com/sud-provence-alpes-cote-d-azur/tarifs-cartes/bons-plans/pass-sudazur-explore-en - so we’re pretty positive you can get it whenever (but no guarantee 😅)
I enjoy your episodes tremendously. Very detailed and casual. Do you know if you can take a train from Nice to Toulon? I will follow your advice and travel to Nice in September to follow your excursions ideas but need to meet friends in Toulon later
Thank you! 🙏 🤩 And yes, absolutely: Nice-Toulon is directly connected by train (the trip takes around 1 hour 45 min). Have a great stay in September (perfect time to travel on the French Riviera, sorry if we repeat ourselves 😉)
Bonjour! Love your videos, great information as we plan our trip to Provence-Cote d'Azur. Is the Pass Sud Azure available year round? The last time I checked, it said only during high season. Would love to know when you filmed at the airport showing the option to purchase the pass. We'll be there late February so curious if it will be an option then. Merci beaucoup!
Thank you for this video. We are going to Cote d'Azur in May, using Antibes as our base. We just found out about the Sudazur pass today. Can we purchase a ticket in Aix-en-Provence? We are taking the TER from there to Marseille to Antibes. Secondly, once you have the pass, how do you use it for future TER rides? Is there a way to use it if you are making reservations online? Lastly, if you buy a 3-day pass, do you have to use it 3 days in a row or can you choose which 3 days you use it? The video was very helpful!
Hi, thanks a lot! Very valid questions! So, 1) no you can’t buy the Pass Sudazur Explorer in Aix (they might have something similar for the department Bouches-du-Rhone over there), as it is strictly for use in the department Alpes-Maritimes (Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Menton etc) and Monaco. So for Marseille-Antibes it is not working. 2) no reservations are possible at all: for TER there are no specific seats that you can book. It’s like on the bus: you just hop on whichever one comes along next. 3) the pass is for 3 (or 5 or 7…) days in a row. So the 3 day pass is not especially cheap, just saves you time for getting tickets each time you use the tram/TER train/ bus… Have a great trip! 😄
Hi, thanks! Here’s one with bus and tram lines in Nice (Lignes d‘Azur): www.lignesdazur.com/sites/default/files/2023-08/Plan_Sch%C3%A9matique%20des%20Lignes%20Principales_09-2023_web.pdf And the following one is for ZOU bus lines outside of Nice (you can use Pass Sud Azur Explore to use these buses): storage.googleapis.com/is-wp-22-prod/uploads-prod/2023/09/ZOU06_Plan_Lignes_Alpes_Maritimes_Septembre_2023.pdf
Thank u so much ur channel is very helpful fir Nice visitors , I would like u to add big bus tour trips, day trips options from nice as well , that would b much appreciated 😊
Thank you so much for the great video! Is the Sud Azur pass valid for the train from the airport? Does it really cover every single bus and train in the area of Cote d'Azur and department 06? Thank you very much in advance!
Yes, absolutely: you can buy it directly at the airport tram ticket machines and don’t need to go through the hassle for avoiding the 10€ tram ticket since Pass Sud Azur Explore does cover every bus and train and tram in 06 department (not Saint-Tropez! That’s 83/Var Department) 👍
We don‘t think so since one way is validated and you’re allowed a transfer within 74 minutes (not a return trip, though). If you validate again it would take another € 1.70 from your card I suppose (but we’re not entirely sure)
Hello! This is an excellent video with LOTS of information. I had a question I plan on being in Nice for 8 days (my 8th day is to go back home ) . On my trip I plan to see Nice, St Tropez, Cannes, Monaco , Menton. What would be the best way to get around? Would the pass sud azure be best?
Hey, sounds great! Pass Sud Azur Explore would definitely be the easiest as you would not have to think about getting any tickets anymore. As soon as you take the train it should also be cheaper than buying single tickets. Can’t remember from the top of my head what the numbers of days are for this ticket (is there one for 8 days?). And: careful, Saint-Tropez is not included since it’s in the neighbouring department. But Nice - Saint-Tropez by bus/train is nearly impossible anyway, we highly recommend going by boat (see our latest video! 😉)
@@rivierago thank you for the response! I actually booked a day trip for Saint Tropez via Expedia. But the pass would cover Nice, Cannes, Monaco & Menton?
@@hectorferreira2630 it should be nice, probably mid-20ies (Celsius) during the day, but you’ll need a sweater in the evening. It might rain, but it can as well be super sunny all the time 😎
Great video but I have just returned from a lovely holiday in Nice, (Sept. 2024), the advice about buying the Pass SudAzur is slightly incorrect. You can't buy the ticket in the office opposite the train station. You can buy them from two machines in the train station. The machines are a little confusing as the machines have a line crossed through the large train symbol on the exterior of the machine. If you buy the 3 day or 7 day pass it is valid for trains, trams and buses. You do have to pay an additional 2 euros for the carte so 35 euros for the 3 day pass is actually 37 euros including the carte.
@@7Llewelyn thank you!!! Back when we did the video it was possible, but you’re right, the agency has changed its mission slightly. Sorry! You should also be able to by the Pass Sud Azur at any of the ticket machines at the numerous tram stations!
Hello madam, in September I will visit the south of France. I liked your videos. Very nice. Thank you. Can you advise me from the beginning until the end of my visit to Nice, Monaco, Antibes, Cannes and villages? Thank you for your kindness and I appreciate your help. Thank you very much.
"You just have to know how" 😂. Yes,apparently. It might be a bit messy, but you made it quite organised in 3 main groups and simple. Very useful indeed. Are the buses fully packed, lack of fresh air etc.(Lol) or people use it moderately and many still prefer having own car, which is not a surprise for the south? Well done super ladies 😃🌞👍
Thank you! We can actually say public transport has improved a lot over the past years on the French Riviera. There’s still room for improvement, and if you live in more rural areas you basically depend on your own car. But getting around in Nice especially is so much easier nowadays due to the tram. And once you’ve figured out your regular bus line it’s simple and prices are fair. Trams, buses and trains do indeed get crowded during rush hours, so maybe try to avoid those if you can. A/C wise we can’t complain, it’s usually working just fine. Then, of course, there are strikes every now and then. But that’s a whole different story…
I see. Yes,it makes sense. Inside town sounds quite practical to use public transportation instead of a car. I will be interested to try that transportation. Never done it before, because I ve always been there in warm weather,so walks are the way to go. But I now keep the info.you provided about the 3 groups/lines for different areas. I like useful information. So thank you! Till next time 😊👍
Hi!! Thank you so much for this video. It is super helpful!! I have a follow up question for you. Does the map shown at 3:19 have only trams, trains, and buses or only buses? Thank you again!
@@lindzaybaez5898 for the tram there are maps online (the tram is really simple, there are only 3 lines in Nice - www.urbanrail.net/eu/fr/nice/nice-tram.htm), and as for the train: here’s a map that is a little confusing I think: www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fmmt.vsct.fr%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2Fswt%2FCPAC%2F2023-07%2Fcarte%2520departements_ALPES%2520MARITIMES%252006.png&tbnid=3Lz9l3KvhiLUpM&vet=1&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ter.sncf.com%2Fsud-provence-alpes-cote-d-azur%2Ftarifs-cartes%2Fbons-plans%2Fpass-journee&docid=fa86RVosuO6kKM&w=1191&h=842&hl=de&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim%2Fm4%2F3&kgs=7e050ba5c6704a41&shem=abme%2Ctrie, but the trains basically go along the coast, from Menton on the border to Italy westwards trains go through: Monaco, Nice, Antibes, Cannes, and from Cannes, there’s a connection going north to Grasse.
Glad to hear, thanks! ☺️ There are several options for luggage storage (please just google), but unfortunately we have no feedback about how trustworthy they are. But I assume they‘re safe, never heard of problems in that regard
Out of all your videos this is most useful. Please let us know which card would you recommend to able to to take most trains trams and buses withing a week . I travel with my 13 Yr old daughter. Is travel free or discounted for under 18s?
Hi, thanks! The Pass Sud Azur Explore (available at ticket machines for tram, directly at the airport if you wish) is available for a week and allows you to use all buses, trams and REGIONAL trains (TER) in the Alpes-Maritimes (Cannes, Nice, Menton, Antibes, villages in the hinterland) and Monaco. Your daughter needs one as well, it’s a little cheaper than for adults (not half price, though)
Please also make a video on French riviera pass if its worth spending all that money. Its only valid for 3 days and we need 1 week to be able to see everything in Nice,Monaco , Cannes and neighbouring villages
Hi, thanks for the greatly detailed video! My husband and I will be travelling to Nice. So if I have understood correctly, we need to buy 1 pink card and keep recharging that with tickets for 2 persons? Hope I'm right! Thank you.
Yes, that’s correct! Of course, you could also buy 2 cards - but if you stick together one is fine. Just always remember to validate for 2 (swipe twice in front of the thing in the tram or bus) 😊
This is awesome thank you so much. I am travelling to Nice in a few months time. Is it a lot cheaper to book local train tickets (to Monaco, Provence etc) this early? Or can I just wait until I arrive in Nice? I am looking at pre-booking tickets to Genoa because I've been told those sell out in advance.
Pre-booking the regional/local TER trains doesn’t change the fare - early booking only makes sense for TGV/long distance trains (if travelling to Paris, for example). You can’t make seat reservations either on the regional trains. So yes: you can wait until you’re in Nice. As for the train to Genoa: we honestly don’t know the Italian railway system… sorry!
This all works until you get a day like yesterday when all trains in PACA were cancelled because there might be a storm. The storm did not, in fact, occur.
Thank you for sharing these information. If we book tickets through the app, how do we validate the tickets? Do we need to scan anything at the station?
Hi, thank you! trams and buses: validate inside (you need to swipe your mobile with open app, I guess - sorry, we always use the pink or orange card, so we’re only assuming how it works via mobile), and for trains it depends on the ticket you are using (some need validation, others don’t, and some you can validate yourself on your mobile).
Thank you, you videos are so helpful. I have a few questions. I bought a pink card of lignes d’Azur last year. Will I be able to use it this year? I did not return it last year. And will I be able to use my pink card to go from the airport to the Center of Nice if I have one trip on my card? Thanks!
Hi, thanks a lot! And yes, you're absolutely right: the pink card can still be used, and if you still have a trip on it, you can use it to get into town! If you didn't, you would take a free ride on the tram to the next station after T1 (Grand Arénas), get off and top up your card there for 1.70. They don't give you the option at the airport.
Moin!
Sonst Zugfahrten einzeln buchen. Gute Reise! 😊
It should be available all year round: there are no limitations according to this site: www.ter.sncf.com/sud-provence-alpes-cote-d-azur/tarifs-cartes/bons-plans/pass-sudazur-explore-en
Hii! Going to Nice in May. Wanting to visit Antibes, eze, villefanche, and Monaco. Does the SudAzur Pass cover the transportation to all of these places??
No, I don’t think there is. Not aware that the Sud Azur Pass can be connected to any app. Try maybe Moovit to find out your itinerary (attention: In the Moovit app you need to switch to this region in the settings!)
No, you don’t have to book TER trains in advance. That’s only for high speed trains TGV. And with the SudAzur Pass you don’t/can’t book anything at all - you just use whatever means of transportation you want whenever you want (no TGV) and validate/swipe the card at the train station, on the bus or on the tram. (That’s the case for all local/regional transportation: no booking in advance)
Great help but I'm not completely clear about where you can travel using the Pass SudAzur ticket. The website indicates that it can be used to visit the Côte d'Azur, Monaco and the Alps-Maritimes. I'm planning a visit to the Cote b'Azur in May, using Nice as a base but would like to visit towns and villages between Menton and Cannes (possibly Saint-Tropez). Does this ticket cover that whole area and include all busses, trains and trams. I'm probably being overcautious but don't want to spend EU 50 for 7 day pass to find it doesn't get me where I want to go. Thanks
Hi! With the “Pass SudAzur Explore” you can travel in all of the Alpes-Maritimes Department which covers Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Menton and the villages in the hinterland (including Eze village, Saint-Paul-de-Vence etc), and Monaco. You can you buses, the tram in Nice and regional (TER) trains (not high speed trains like TGV and Ouigo). Especially when using the train the ticket makes a lot of sense, since train tickets are more expensive than bus fares. The train makes sense because you’re not subject to road traffic. Saint-Tropez is NOT covered by the pass! It’s in the neighbouring department Var. Consider taking a boat: it’s not cheap, but public transportation from Nice to ST is loooong and there’s always traffic jams around ST in the summer season. Have a great trip!
@@DavidForster-h9i SNCF is the National train company, so all trains are SNCF. Make sure to look for TER (= regional trains) as opposed to TGV, Ouigo (high speed trains that go to Paris, for example).
Bonjour! Can you tell me please if I can use my La Carte card on the Zou buses, if I get on in Beaulieu to Nice and reverse? I know the La Carte can’t go to Monaco, but I don’t know if I can use it on the Zou, or if I just need the Lignes Dazur 15 yellow bus only 😊 Merci!
Thank you for the great videos and useful information. My trip to Nice will be at the end of January. Can you tell me if I can get SUDAZUR EXPLORE PASS for 3 days at the airport (from a vending ticket machine)? As far as I am informed, it will be suitable for travelling every day from Nice( all nights are booked there) to Cannes, Antibes, Monaco and Menton by train and the transport inside each town. Is this true? Greetings from Bulgaria 😊
Hello Vladislava : ) Please, may I ask you - was it possible to buy SUDAZUR EXPLORE PASS ticket at the Nice airport? Everywhere are information about possibility to buy it just from July and not at the airport... Thank you very much... : )
The first pass that you were talking about that you buy for 3 days or 7 days, will it cover all of these transportations, including trains between cities?
Yes: Pass Sud Azur Explore is for all public transport in the department Alpes-Maritimes & Monaco, including regional trains (=TER, not TGV!) www.ter.sncf.com/sud-provence-alpes-cote-d-azur/tarifs-cartes/bons-plans/pass-sudazur-explore-en
Does anyone know if the 3 Day Pass SudAzur is good for 72 hours from first use, or three calendar days. Meaning if we use it on Monday afternoon at 4pm is the pass only good until Wednesday or Thrusday at 4pm?
Hi, very valid question! I called the agency and they said calendar days. So no matter at what time of day you start using it, that day will count as full day no. 1.
Great new experience for travellers. Would like to ask if someone would know... For example, travelling from Nice-Ville train station, to Port for getting a bus 600 Monaco Way, then use local bus in Monaco at the same route. Do I need only 1 Ticket Azure? Or need the first local card from train to port, then ticket Azure from the port to Monaco? Instead of buying plastic, can I do all this over mobile App?
Hi, you can switch buses/trams with a Ligne d’Azur ticket if you’re going in the same direction (returning is not allowed). Within Monaco they have a different transport company, so different tickets. Only “Pass Sud Azur Explore” allows for using trains/buses/tram in all of the department Alpes-Maritimes PLUS Monaco. There is a mobile app for Lignes d’Azur - there was some problem with iPhones or the language options, not sure exactly anymore what the problem was… anyway, we didn’t want to recommend it when we did the video because it appeared to be a bit complicated. You should have a try though!
@rivierago Appreciate so much your complete explanation.I use Android mobile. Ok, so I can punch mobile ticket Ligne D'Azure when enter the bus from Jardin Alsace Lorraine, to Port, than enter bus 600, than use 1 to station with another bus in Monaco, within the same direction? This appears what I understand from videos watching by your side, still would like to double check before arrival.Thank you so much!
Can I get one more update, for the Zou! Downloaded app.Could it buy ticket on app for ticket azure? Also, Ticket Azure on vending machine is paper or plastic (wonder if I can top up credit)? Thanks, and enjoying good vibes soon there 😀
@@markotopic3342 ah no, Zou and Lignes d’Azur are two separate things, so you need two separate apps to get tickets (and we seem to remember that at least one of them might be tricky if you don’t speak French; though that might have changed). The “La carte” tickets from Lignes d’Azur that you can buy at the tram station vending machines are plastic and they can be topped up! Enjoy your trip! 😃
@rivierago All clear, and thanks for your support. It is appreciated. I really look forward to a great time, and hopefully, the weather will be OK and manageable to swim in the afternoon. Wish you a great week!
Thank you for the information. I would like to go from the airport in Nice to the center and from Nice to Eze, Monaco, Menton and maybe Cannes. Which card/pass do you recommend? I don't think I can do all the cities with the Pass Sud Azur?
You can reach all of the places with Pass Sud Azur Explore! It’s easiest to get this pass - but it may not be the cheapest option. But if you get this pass, you don’t have to worry about what ticket to get for which itinerary anymore. (Just don’t hop on a TGV train, they are more expensive - stick to regional TER trains - when going to Cannes or Monaco, for example)
@@rivierago Thank you! And when I don't want to take the Sud Azur pass, how do I get the easiest from Eze to Menton or from Monaco to Menton? We would love to go 1 day to Eze and Menton and 1 day to Monaco from Nice. We want to go to Eze with the bus and Monaco with te bus or train. I think it's cheaper to do this all when I buy the tickets apart.
@@kristeltjeeee yes, it’s probably cheaper without Pass Sud Azur. For MC, it’s easiest to take the train from Nice (bus is a little cheaper though). There are buses from Nice to Eze village - not sure about Eze-Menton. To get back from Menton to Nice the train would be easiest/quickest again. We use the app Moovit (switched to Côte d’Azur Region) to find out exact travel plans!
Great and helpful tips!. I would like to ask about Tickets Azur (2,50EUR). Are Ticket Azur paper ticket or when buying Ticket Azur at tram stop ticket machine I need another card for Tickets Azur or they can be added to La Carte with Solo Tickets (1,7 EUR). If card is needed can multiple people use the same card like in case of Solo tickets? And the second question concerning Pass SudAzur - is it possible to buy it now (we will be in Nice in the beginning of May)? I have heard that it is available only from July through the first weekend in November.
Honestly, we would think you can add a Ticket Azur to your card La Carte at the tram stop ticket machines - but we have never tried it, and we couldn’t find the answer online… and you should also to able to buy several of those tickets on one card and use it for several people. (But again: we never bought a Ticket Azur) And as for the Pass Sud Azur Explore: there are no time restrictions as far as we know! They’re available year round: www.ter.sncf.com/sud-provence-alpes-cote-d-azur/tarifs-cartes/bons-plans/pass-sudazur-explore-en
Thanks a lot for detailed information. Me and my wife are travelling to Nice with our 3 years old kid and planning to buy Pass Sud Azur Explore(for me & my wife), but not sure if we need to buy a separate pass for our kid as well. While booking separate train ticket it does say kids without seat(3 years old) doesn't have to pay but is it also the case with the Pass? On the website I can only see a cost difference for less then 18 years old but there is no minimum age limit mentioned. Do you have any information on this? Thanks in advance for your response.
I’m afraid we’re not sure, according to their website it would be the price for children under 18 for any child, but it sounds strange that very young children would have to pay at all… let us call some hotline and get back to you!
@@DivyanshuYadav-tj4qb called them just now! So, children under 4 years old don’t need any ticket on trains etc - so no need to buy one for your child! 😅
Yes, by bus! When taking local buses within Monaco, you’ll probably need extra tickets. But you can actually do all of Monaco on foot if you’re willing to walk a bit (+ ferry across the port)
Hi, I would take the train - way faster and easier (more expensive, but not excessive) There are direct buses too, but it depends on where you are in Nice (and buses are subject to traffic jams). Both buses and train stop in downtown Cannes and everything will be possible on foot from there
@@marbleitalia5187 bus no. 620 seems to go to Cannes, but it seems kind of complicated, first another bus from where you are - sorry, we have to look it up ourselves (Moovit app). I would really suggest the train, it’s twice as quick. There’s also an AirPort Express bus, no. 81, from nice airport to Cannes, but one way is 19.50€ - that is way too expensive
Hi, sorry it has taken some time, I had to call the transport network as I couldn’t find the answer online 😅: So, children have to pay on buses in the common networks (Lignes d‘Azur in Nice, Zou outside of Nice etc) starting at the age of 4 and they pay a full price (1.70€ on Lignes d‘Azur), so unfortunately your kids can’t share a ticket…
Do you need to swipe your card again when you leave the bus or tram? Where I live you swipe your card when you get on the bus, and also when you get off. Then they know how far your trip was and how much you have to pay.
Hi, exactly, the Lignes d’Azur ticket is for buses and the tram within the beige area (no. 4 in the map we’re showing in the video) = Metropolitan area of Nice. So Menton, Antibes, Cannes are not included. To get to either of those places we would suggest you use the train from Nice because it’s faster.
We need to check that… for Zou tickets, there’s a blue „box“ for swiping the ticket before stepping on the platform - but not sure if that works for Pass SudAzur Explore (we‘ll get back to you about that). If you have your ticket with you to show when asked, you should already be fine…
☝️ So, correction, we just called SNCF and they confirmed that you MUST validate your ticket (Pass Sud Azur Explore or other) before stepping on the platform when using a train! (Validate as described above)
Should we buy separate card for pass sud azur for different passangers. My husband, i and my child will be travelling together and will buy pass sud azur. Should i buy separate card( physical card) for every one of us? Or can we use same card and load it with 3 passes?
I think for the Pass Sud Azur Explore you need to buy separate cards for each person. Children under 18 need their own ticket (which is just a little cheaper) as well and need to be accompanied by an adult. Unfortunately their website doesn’t say if even children under 6 have to pay. This is where we sourced our info: www.ter.sncf.com/sud-provence-alpes-cote-d-azur/tarifs-cartes/bons-plans/pass-sudazur-explore-en
Hey, I’ll bem in Antibes for 3 weeks and I have one doubt: what does Pass Sud Azur cover? Wich cities? May I travel from Antibes to Nice every day using it ?
Hey, yes! Pass Sud Azur Explore covers Antibes-Nice (all of the department Alpes-Maritimes which also includes Cannes, Menton, Grasse etc - and even Monaco)

Hi, we have tried a few videos about Provence last summer - they didn't really click with the followers that watch our regular French Riviera stuff, much to our regret. I'm sure we'll be showing more of Provence this summer - and a BEST OF PROVENCE is a great idea! We love Cassis! Right now, those places are dead to the world, though, they almost shut down in the winter. So we have to wait a bit to get the "right pictures"...
Hi! It’s easy to travel between Nice and Genoa by train. You just need to always switch trains in Ventimiglia. An app for what? For booking trains? We use the French app: SNCF connect
@@rivierago Thank you for your helpful videos anf for your reply to my comment! Is it necessary to book a train if I am leaving from Genoa to Nice or is it easy to get tickets everyday from Genoa to Nice in the last week of March and the first week of April?
If I purchased the pass for 3 days but have to use it for an extra day to travel to Italy, can I reload the pass with the tickets I need? So I don’t have to buy another 3 days to save money. If I can, where can I do this? Or should I just buy my ticket individually and not use the pass after it expires? I’m staying in Nice for 3 days but have to go to italy after the third day but not coming back
You’re talking about the Pass Sud Azur Explore? Not rechargeable, I’m afraid, at least not for one day, just the 3-7-14 day offers (if I remember correctly). For Italy you need an extra ticket anyway, so the best is probably getting a TER train ticket from Nice to your destination in Italy for that day.
je suis niçois et vous avez raison 10 euros pour un allez-retour c'est une honte ( c'est des rats ) what you could do is get on the tram and get off at the next stop you'll find a ticket machine you'll only spend 1.70 euros and wait for the next tram there are also local buses but the tram is more convenient and much faster ps : vous prononcez bien tous les mots en français bravo thanks 4 sharing : )
Thinking about spending 1 year in Nice. Want to rent an apartment for a year, Can you recommend web sites realestate agents who can help/..............Many thanks, Very helpful.
Are you talking about the Lignes d’Azur day pass? In that case it covers Nice and all the towns and villages that belong to the Nice-Métropole region which extends all around (including Eze and Cap d’Ail for example). However it does not include cities like Cannes, Antibes, Menton or the Principality of Monaco.
@@zuowang5185 the Pass Sud Azur Explore covers all of the department Alpes-Maritimes (Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Menton…) and Monaco, including regional trains, buses, tram.
Does anyone know please -if I can use my La Carte card on the Zou buses, if I get on in Beaulieu to Nice and reverse? I know the La Carte can't go to Monaco, but I don't know if I can use it on the Zou, or if I just need the Lignes Dazur 15 yellow bus only ∞ Merci!
You need a „ticket Azur“ for € 2.50 that allows you to start with a Lignes d‘Azur Bus in Nice and change on a Zou bus to get to Monaco or Beaulieu with Zou bus no. 607 for example. It tried to charge my „La Carte“ (Lignes d‘Azur) with this ticket via app, but it was not possible. You can purchase the „ticket Azur“ at the tram ticket machines (and in Zou and Lignes d‘Azur agencies I suppose). If you use bus no 15 from Nice to Beaulieu you should be fine with La Carte, as it is part of the Lignes d‘Azur network as far as we know
@@rivierago they’ve certainly made it confusing! I loved being able to jump on the first bus that came, but now having to wait for the right one rather than a Zou one, or pay more money for a Zou one is such a pain!
Hello there and thank you for all this precious infos! Can you please tell me if a 2 years old little one should also have tickets for the public transportation? Even if she doesn t use any seats? 🫣 Aaand other question: what lines we should avoid if we get Pass SudAzur?
Hi, kids a free on public transport in Nice as long as they are less than 4 years old (busses + tram / Lignes d'Azur), same goes for regional trains (TER PACA), and it's probably the same for other bus networks outside of Nice as well. Not sure we understand your question about what lines to avoid with the Pass SudAzur... You can use any bus, tram and regional train (=TER) within the department Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco. Just be careful not to hop on TGV trains (high speed trains), they're not included.
Have you tried out public transport on the French Riviera? How did it go?
Never, only rent car
I was in Nice in November and it was only thanks to your videos that I was able not to fall into the ticket trap at the airport and I saved a few euros thanks to you. Your guides are very useful.

Very informative-now I’d have to watch/listen to you 2-3 times all over again. You two are great, thanks so much! 👏👏👏
🫣😉
Lol😅✌️
How do you know whether it’s a tgv train or not?
@spencernoble5661 That's the catch. You won't know until the train starts and they start their ticket checks. What I noticed is that the TGVs have seat numbers, whereas the regional trains are free seating. Hope that helps!
Awesome, this is everything I needed to know, thanks from Chile!
You’re very welcome - safe travels! 😄

I’m so glad that you told us about the app. I used it everywhere I went. Thank you for all of your helpful tips.
You‘re very welcome! Glad our videos do help as intended 😄

Did you end up buying a travel pass? If so, which one? What was the most common mode of public transport that you used?

Hello from Slovakia ! Such a helpful video, thank you for that. : )
Actually, I´m planning to visit Nice in April this year.
When we were at the airport a few weeks ago, the pass was ready to buy at the machine (though we didn’t follow through and didn’t actually buy one), and on the website we consulted they don’t say it’s limited to certain times of the year: www.ter.sncf.com/sud-provence-alpes-cote-d-azur/tarifs-cartes/bons-plans/pass-sudazur-explore-en
- so we’re pretty positive you can get it whenever (but no guarantee 😅)
I enjoy your episodes tremendously. Very detailed and casual. Do you know if you can take a train from Nice to Toulon? I will follow your advice and travel to Nice in September to follow your excursions ideas but need to meet friends in Toulon later
Thank you! 🙏 🤩
And yes, absolutely: Nice-Toulon is directly connected by train (the trip takes around 1 hour 45 min).

Bonjour! Thank you! 🙏 😊 Yes, it should be available year round! We were at the airport this past week.
This informations realy crusial for many , thank you.
Thank YOU 😊
Thank you for this video.
So the 3 day pass is not especially cheap, just saves you time for getting tickets each time you use the tram/TER train/ bus…
Have a great trip! 😄
What an amazing video. Thanks a lot! But I can't find the network map you shared. With the different zones. Do you have the link maybe?

Thank you so much for the great video! Is the Sud Azur pass valid for the train from the airport? Does it really cover every single bus and train in the area of Cote d'Azur and department 06? Thank you very much in advance!
Yes, absolutely: you can buy it directly at the airport tram ticket machines and don’t need to go through the hassle for avoiding the 10€ tram ticket since Pass Sud Azur Explore does cover every bus and train and tram in 06 department (not Saint-Tropez! That’s 83/Var Department) 👍
very helpful merci beaucoup from Canada :)

Exactly the info I was looking for as I do not drive!
👍 happy to be of service 😊
Thanks for the helpful video! Do you have to validate your ticket again when you transfer buses?

Sorry!

@@fadelbmw5698 hi, thanks for your message! We‘re not sure what you mean by „advise you“?

Yes, that’s correct! Of course, you could also buy 2 cards - but if you stick together one is fine. Just always remember to validate for 2 (swipe twice in front of the thing in the tram or bus) 😊
@@rivierago Got it! Thank you so much for replying! Clarified everything.

Hii! Going to Nice in May. Wanting to visit Antibes, eze, villefanche, and Monaco. Does the SudAzur Pass cover the transportation to all of these places??
Hello again! I got the SNCF app…if I bought the SudAzur 3 day Pass is there a way to apply it to that app?
Additionally, would you book a morning train the night before ?? How far in advance should I book an SNCF ter train in May??
Hi! Yes, it does cover all of the places you mention!

@@rivieragothank you so much. Is Ventimiglia included in this train list to to go the market on Fridays? TIA
@@lanamarx5277 No, I don‘t think so. You might have to buy an extra ticket to cover Menton-Ventimiglia (which won’t be expensive)
Can you also use the Lignes d'azur carte for the train? In The Netherlands we have 1 card for all public transportation.
Hi! No, Lignes d’Azur is tram and bus only. If you want the train included go for the “Pass Sud Azur Explore”
@@rivierago Thank you!! Then I will buy the tickets apart when we are traveling in stead off the Pass Sud Azur!
Is Pass SudAzur enough to travel within nice, Cannes, st tropez, eze and Monaco (in bus, train or tram as mentioned)?
Yes - except for Saint-Tropez!
(But again: we never bought a Ticket Azur)
And as for the Pass Sud Azur Explore: there are no time restrictions as far as we know! They’re available year round:

Can you use lignes d'azur day pass to travel to monaco ?
Yes, by bus! When taking local buses within Monaco, you’ll probably need extra tickets. But you can actually do all of Monaco on foot if you’re willing to walk a bit (+ ferry across the port)
Hi, how do I get from Nice to Cannes?
Could you give me directions for both train and bus?
Thank you very much!
Hi, I would take the train - way faster and easier (more expensive, but not excessive)
There are direct buses too, but it depends on where you are in Nice (and buses are subject to traffic jams).
Both buses and train stop in downtown Cannes and everything will be possible on foot from there
@@rivierago Thanks again. I'll be in Nice in a week and I'm watching all your videos 😁

@@rivierago Ok, I will follow your advice. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for sharing. I was told 2 kids y4-10 can use 1 ticket(€1.7) - is it correct?
No! Only once, when you start your trip! The price is the same, no matter how far you go
hi, is the LIGNES D’AZUR ticket only for the beige area or can we travel to places like Menton as well?
Hi, exactly, the Lignes d’Azur ticket is for buses and the tram within the beige area (no. 4 in the map we’re showing in the video) = Metropolitan area of Nice. So Menton, Antibes, Cannes are not included. To get to either of those places we would suggest you use the train from Nice because it’s faster.
Hello! How do you use the Pass Sud Azur at the train stations? Thank you
We need to check that… for Zou tickets, there’s a blue „box“ for swiping the ticket before stepping on the platform - but not sure if that works for Pass SudAzur Explore (we‘ll get back to you about that). If you have your ticket with you to show when asked, you should already be fine…
☝️ So, correction, we just called SNCF and they confirmed that you MUST validate your ticket (Pass Sud Azur Explore or other) before stepping on the platform when using a train! (Validate as described above)
@@rivierago thank you for checking on this!

This is where we sourced our info:

An app for what? For booking trains? We use the French app: SNCF connect

If I purchased the pass for 3 days but have to use it for an extra day to travel to Italy, can I reload the pass with the tickets I need? So I don’t have to buy another 3 days to save money. If I can, where can I do this? Or should I just buy my ticket individually and not use the pass after it expires? You’re talking about the Pass Sud Azur Explore? Not rechargeable, I’m afraid, at least not for one day, just the 3-7-14 day offers (if I remember correctly). For Italy you need an extra ticket anyway, so the best is probably getting a TER train ticket from Nice to your destination in Italy for that day.
je suis niçois et vous avez raison 10 euros pour un allez-retour c'est une honte ( c'est des rats ) what you could do is get on the tram and get off at the next stop you'll find a ticket machine you'll only spend 1.70 euros and wait for the next tram there are also local buses but the tram is more convenient and much faster
