The true feat of this speedrun wasn't the gameplay or the TAS but the fact the guy doing it had to keep his speed consistently throughout the emotional gut punch that is the Zero games. This is still the robot genocide game.
I mean, he is a machine with the most powerful AI capable of imitating a human almost flawless. For all we know he also has a very advanced HUD and brain that allow him to think at superspeed.
he does. the only reason he didn’t kill everyone before x series began is the virus was given to sigma who became practically immortal from it on tech it wasn’t made for
>best way to grind the saber is to take advantage of ciel's invincibility and shove it up her ass for thousands of instant hits Zero is a cruel, but practical man. Can't blame him either, weapon leveling is sooooo annoying.
X: Stand back Guys, you can't defeat him. Only I can. Zero: We'll see about that *After 3 seconds* X: Bro, who's controlling you right now? Zero: Oh, some guy doing a speed run. X: Oh.
zero is on some fist of the north star shit with this. boss comes up to him and taunts him and then a thousand cuts and maybe 3 seconds later theyre just in two. incredible
Good stuff. I used to think that the fastest way to get through everything was to grind the spider nests in the ruins until your saber was at the charge upgrade. Glad they did away with that in the later games.
Fun fact, getting the camera to lag behind you in the disposal center stage is perfectly feasible even for human players. If you flip the wind and start dash jumping through the next segment, the camera won’t account for the speed boost from the wind and you’ll be offscreen
I love how what I thought would be the most boring part out of the whole run was one of the best parts when he's rescuing the reploid in the dessert and bringing him back to was at around 14:30
in the raining area from megaman zx u can move a cannon to destroy some spikes but its almost useless its more useful in the power factory to destroy other cannons
@@zxq2370 the 12 year old me wrote this comment talking about mmzx on a mmz video dunno how he dashed on the spikes on this tas but on megaman zx there are invincible cannons that rotate when u shoot them
It's to quickly upgrade the z saber by spamming attack every (maybe every other?) frame; Ciel is invincible, and you need hits to upgrade the weapon level in Mega Man Zero.
In Zero 1 with attacks that are meant to combo into each other, like the three hit slashes of the saber, the first hits only give a very brief invulnerability time to allow the combo to work. By using only those attacks repeatedly it's possible to hit bosses very frequently, I fire so many buster shots during the boss combos because I'm canceling out of the combo after the first one or two slashes to allow me to restart it seamlessly. This can also be accomplished by simply holding the Shield Boomerang while slashing, which is the preferred method for quick kills in real-time speedruns.
Also known as "Mega Man Zero, but Zero needs to finish the mission before the pizza rolls are done"

I like to think that this is how Zero canonically does his missions.

@@linkbluu321 Zero is literally broken as a character when it comes to power.

But he takes so much damage, and kills so little of the enemies...

Zero is a cruel, but practical man.
Can't blame him either, weapon leveling is sooooo annoying.
There are some handy guides that will allow you to upgrade your weapons in no time. Like, after an hour, all of your weapons are maxed.
"Zero... Please help me."
Zero: *Jump poses, glides, absolutely obbliterates rows of enemies Ciel's soldiers were incapable of taking on earlier*

Yea that sounds about right.
"DON'T WASTE TIME."
Zero never let them down huh
Probably my favorite series of megaman games in the series. I love how the gameplay here really blends Megaman, Zero, and adds new features as well
Zero in 13:46 was like: "hurry i have to go to the toilet!!!"
I knew it was only a matter of time until best megaman gets a proper TAS update
Andrevus Whitetail
Agreed
He combo'd those bosses... ZERO to death!
One of my favourite games.
I like to think this is how Zero would do things in-universe
gameplay begins at 2:02 after intro cutscene
also DAMN that movement in neo arcadia tower is clean
0:38 interesting fact: in the Japanese version, the blood was removed to maintain the age rating of +9
and yet everything you slice in the japanese version has blood coming out of it
One of the few times japan censors stuff instead of adding more

i like TAS where you go faster than the camera can follow
i run pacman world (i still didnt upload a run) but in that game a tas can make the camera go so slow u have to wait for it like 5 seconds

Yeah when i was a child i was shocked when i saw that insignia

Even a TAS doesn’t get A-Rank, this game’s ranking system is evil
What? Isn't this how you're SUPPOSED to play the game?
Well with how ridiculous the S rankings are, I’d say yea

How did you dash on the spikes without mercy invincibility (17:45 & 21:22)?
When the stalactites fall they break the spikes in a small area.

Canon zero lol
How fast does this guy press his buttons? 😂
It is a tas so pretty much an input per frame. (Idk what the FPS of a GBA game is) but yeah
around 30-ish times a second, assuming Megaman Zero runs at a constant 60 FPS and with no framedrops or slowdown to eat inputs.

Any idea how he can dash+shoot like that?
Cool as hell to see but getting hit or running intentionally into damage kinda takes me outta it, other than that👍🏻
The i frames let you go faster through spots where otherwise you'd have to kill or avoid enemies.
How does zero hit the bosses multiple times without them cooling down?
