As a manager for Dollar Tree that has a spirit next door to me, I always find it funny when people complain about us having Halloween out already while shopping with there spirit bags in hand.
Part of me is skeptical that there'd be people that embarrassingly unaware, but I also know such people exist.
Here’s the thing, Halloween is my favorite time of year. But I freaking hate Halloween shopping when it’s still hot. It’s summertime, not Halloweentime. I’m not in the mood yet. BUT if you don’t shop early then all the good stuff is gone. It’s annoying as hell. My biggest annoyance is when Christmas stuff comes out alongside or even BEFORE Halloween stuff. Can’t we just enjoy one seasonally appropriate holiday at a time please? No of course not because capitalism. 😂
My local Safeway that I work for has Halloween candy out during summer 2022 and even Thanksgiving cards next to the Halloween cards. The only major reason why the supermarket doesn't have turkeys out in abundance is probably due to the fact that turkey farms are physically not ready or plump enough birds. If they could Mass produce turkeys like they do with Halloween candy then you'd probably would see thousands of pounds of turkeys at your market instead of the average size turkeys.
Halloween and Thanksgiving should be reserved for the first day of fall officially recognized on the calendar not for the middle of August when it's still 100°F plus in places in North America. If the retail industry would have it their way Halloween would be moved to the middle of August or September so they can have it neatly tied up as a late summer holiday. Then they would be able to push Thanksgiving as a holiday in October like the Canadians instead of the November holiday that it is in the US.
Hardware stores and Costco only have two seasons hot and cold which means (cold) Christmas with Christmas trees, inflatable snowman, Christmas lights Christmas wreaths, and (hot) barbecues, outdoor lawn mowers, patio furniture, seasonal plants.
It's like the Hallmark channel celebrates Christmas in July with Christmas movies and then they also celebrate Christmas in October November and December and the first week of January.
If there were no holidays retail wouldn't be able to sell useless items like Easter eggs, Halloween decorations and Christmas trees that have no real significant on surviving.
@@rb5078 Right we need Castro or a Stalin to put a stop to all that... /s
@@rb5078 evidently not anymore 🙁
So happy to see Killer Klowns from Outer Space start making appearances every Halloween recently.
a developer is making a new game of it
@@brandino561 Just saw that, wasn't sure how I felt about the idea at first, but that seems like the best way to capture the spirit of the movie in a game.
I'll be honest that one animatronic that floated up scared me, LOL. Might have to check around to see if any Spirit Halloween stores have popped up in my area.
I made a video last year at one of these and I had a dog scare the crap out of me because it popped out of a dog house.
I like when they close. Alot of the decor gets tossed and I reuse them in my basement. Even some merchandise over the years
Not just a clown, a Killer Klown! From outer space!
Perhaps you could do an update actually one day before Halloween? Just to see if they had that cool stuff they announced was coming.
It'll be a ghost town By Oct 31st. Have to check mid-month
The posting of this video is hilarious timing to me because I just saw the first Spirit Halloween in my area pop up today inside what use to be a Pier One Imports but has sat empty for the last three years. I swear whoever is the regional manager for Spirit Halloween in my area always intentionally picks where to place them off of the history of the building/how long it's been empty(which makes them 10x better), last year the Spirit Halloween popped up in a shop that had previously been a Christian bookstore.
They pick whatever place has the cheapest rent in the best location. What it was previously has no bearing on that decision.
@@supersanic1254 I know it’s all about cost cutting and the store’s history is total coincidence. I just like to imagine there’s someone with a sense of humor behind it 🙃😂
I find browsing through Spirit Halloween oddly relaxing.
always love the annual spirit halloween tours, so much cool stuff! dig those animatronic displays especially that one that must've extended to be like 7 or 8 feet tall!
This pharmacy was abandoned since way back in 2007 when the Google car first captured it but the shape of the logo appears to be an Eckerd.
Every year Halloween stuff begins showing up sooner in various stores. Miss days when we took each holiday one at a time.
But yeah, it seems like in 1990s Halloween went through a period where it's popularity grew a lot, people decorated yards more, etc.🎃
It's obviously "Luigi board" and nobody can stop me from saying it.
A sequel to Hocus Pocus is coming out. That might explain what you saw for this year.
that was great - Halloween isn't such a big deal up here as it seems to be down there....so this was fun to see.....♥
Spirit is my family's favorite store! We look forward to guessing the year's theme then watching the tour videos. Headed to the flagship store in about two weeks
Great video, as always. I'll admit, that leaping animatronic even got me. 🎃
Oh how I do love Halloween 🕸👽💀Yes, I totally remember that smell from the mask & smock costumes. I’m going to have to go check them out, they were the best. You couldn’t see out of the mask and you got high from the fumes 😂
Spirit Halloween opened in my local mall earlier this month. I went to check it out. Their animatronic display was extremely small and they didn't have some of the ones displayed here. I did buy some earrings though lol.
I work retail, at one of the stores you mentioned in this video even, and we already have Christmas toys piled in the back waiting to go out, meaning after dealing with last year’s until July I’ve had all of a 1 month break from Christmas. Setting Halloween today actually.
Love the throwback art on the Star Wars package too, although that style of costume is a bit before my time.
I think that's the first time I've ever heard you get surprised that you curse. So that alone makes this video worth it.
SWEET! I waited all year for your Halloween videos, and you deliver in August :D Thanks for making my Friday awesome dude!!!!!
Thanks for watching 😁
Very different from the Halloween I had as a kid. Making and carrying lanterns made from turnips and getting money from trick or treating, not sweets. American Halloween is a glorious celebration of tat - nothing wrong with that of course.
Thank you for your efforts! 👍 Awesome video!
That giant pop-up Skeleton and animated version of the mascot was awesome 💀
Those animal skeletons always crack me up due to the poor anatomy. Bats don't have a large bone in their ear!
You have to remember Spirit Halloween and Spencer’s are the same company, so I imagine there’s some crossover there.
Duh.
Yes you can find many of the same items on Spencer's website
Great tour Erik❕ I think this location used to be a old Eckerd Drug, it has the style. Where is this location at❔
My favorite Animatronic this year has to be Jack the jumping skeleton in the paper bag, & Lord Raven is a close second. Would love to see more tours from around our home turf in the Phoenix Metro area❕
Hello from Maricopa Arizona❗🔥
So many choices, but my favorite is the zombie baby graciously offering to share the delicious rat.
there's only been 1 time a spirit Halloween has been in my town and every year Ive regreted not going
I have some friends who work at Spirit Halloween in my local cities. Frequent that store a lot. Check out Halloween City next!
I wonder if they will have Adams Family stuff since the new Wednesday show is coming out. I don’t shop at Spirit Halloween so I don’t know if they have that to begin with.
Always enjoy your Spirit Halloween videos! Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
I feel like pumpkin spice everything starts showing up earlier and earlier each year too.
You are so right. And if you live down South as I do(or the SWest, etc) it just seems ridiculous. No pumpkin spice in summertime please!
The Good Guy/Chuckie dolls are held over from a previous year. A major reason Spirit Halloween remains in business is that Halloween doesn't change significantly from year to year so it is easy to pack away the stores during the off season.
If you want to scare the crap out of kids, put up an animatronic that yells, "BACK TO SCHOOL FOR YOU!!!"
A haunted school would be a fun theme. Ghost teachers, zombie cheerleaders, a mad science teacher...
That was a good walk through. The zombie babies are the best decorations!
I love these places like this when it gets fall. We have one of these, it's another big chain, and they situate all the 'new this year' in the front and the further you go back the older stuff gets. Halloween decorations don't really get 'old', it isn't like a skeleton changes or the animatronics advance every year.
As far as kids under 5 what you do is find a cheap costume, watch the movie early evening, and THEN ask what they want to be for halloween and they'll always say what they just watched. Never fails.
Good stuff they make the animatronics better each year
The best I could think of is Men Out Of The Cloth hahahahahahahahaha 🤣 as for what I think about Spirit Of Halloween I think it’s great to have a One Stop Shop place for all Halloween items. And I also it’s really great that they seem to earlier and earlier every, as I believe it benefits all parties. Unless you’re talking about Online Shopping, but than that it’s really nice to still have a One Stop Shop for all of your annual Halloween needs. 🎃👻
I loved this! I have to go see one of these stores sometime.
The skeleton is awesome!! Might have too get it
They've got some cool stuff out!
I enjoyed this more adult video of yours. You had me cracking up a few times. 😁
My guess with Hocus Pocus is because the sequel is going to be on D+ and Killer Klowns is getting a game from the Friday the 13th devs where you play as a klown or civilian and either have to survive against other players or kill them lol. They wanted to do a sequel to that too but the rights are REALLY complicated so I don't know if its going to happen for sure or not.
That's from the movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
Hocus Pocus 2 will be released on Sep 30, 29 years after the original Hocus Pocus (1993)
12:00 The MOST disturbing thing that wasn't intentional I ever saw was a Macys. We were installing the wood columns at one, it was one of those jobs that didn't pay much, and they had their mannequins on the floor because they were about to put them out. They had a style then, not sure if they have it now, where they had featureless headless babies to display clothes in a bunch of poses and they were all just in one group. Is was really unsettling. I wish I got a picture of it. Way worse than these.
Walmart sells a giant sized skeleton this year like Home Depot has, the Walmart near me has one standing inside at the entry/exit door.
WE NEED MORE VIDEOS!!!!!!!
May The Great Pumpkin bless you in the Autumn season.
1:09 it looks flickery because it's one of those spinning fan displays and the camera picks up the movement of the blade
I saw signage go up on my Spirit at the start of July, however, up north here in the wyo/colo area, definitely no open stores till August... Lol I got up close to Lil Skelly Bones for a shot... Scared me half to death when he jumped 😂 And yes, Fog comes out of Nozzle's arms. Mine in Cheyenne, Wy was set up in my visit.
Ahhh 🍂 🎃
I bought that bog zombie last week.
Lucky for you. Regan is who I wanna buy. Devil downers go RAAAAAAAAGH!
Seems like the Spirit of Halloween in my town shifts locations every year. This year it is in a now out of business Pier 1 Imports.
With Hocus Pocus 2 coming out that's why they have so much merchandise.
Yes the ouija board tray is actually a rolling tray hahaha
I do Halloween decorations all year round. This is my time to find new items.
That clown isn't making random sounds, it is an old reference to the killer clowns from outer space movie
That Reaper Bird Looks like Blackbird from Fnaf Fazbear Frights 7th book. 😨
I think it's because the pocket watch could be used as a weapon. It's basically a medieval flail
Crow man is channeling the dark powers of Gretta Thumburg.
🥺HOW DARE YOU!!
I’ve started to see some popping up in my area too, in all the usual places you’d think of. Places where some other business has been shut for at least 1-3 years or so. I’d bet because of the pandemic, there’s even more empty storefronts than in 2019.
That clown is from the movie Killer Klowns From Outer Space. An awesome cult classic Horror/comedy movie.
I like spirit halloween it's better than party city for halloween
Love Spirits Halloween! My only thing is that we have to drive to different ones to find the ones that have a "mini haunted house" to display all the decor and mechanical items. Some are just shops with no animatronics.
Unfortunately our Spirit Halloween is at the Bellis Fair Mall this year. It's in a detached ex-shoe store next to JC Penney but still...
I like them better in the abandoned grocery stores they'd been using the last few years. They're kinda isolated and creepy.
We had the same kind of thing in a Kroger's in Sharonville, Ohio built from Halloween costume boxes in the 80s. No need for all the LEDs/animatronics.
Well there suppose to be a second Hocus pocus movie coming to Disney plus in the fall
I went to Spirit last week to browse but I found myself staying a few extra minutes to watch the wee little ones stepping on the floor activators and getting a good jump scare.
I see you found Chucky lol 😂
I love Spirit Halloween, I spent a lot on all their Ghostbuster items a few years ago. Too bad they didn't have any Ghostbusters stuff while you were there.
Orlando, Orlando.gov had a huge spat of Walgreens spring up around 2004 to 2014 or so. A few later closed or were converted to other clinics 🏥 or medical offices. CVSs are common too but Walgreens sprung up all around.
Great video. Although, I'll say that having Halloween stuff out already in September is reasonable, but August is ridiculously early. Just like having Christmas stuff out already only less than a few weeks later; outrageously early.
I went to 2 of them and they opened early and they have a lab theme this year
Where The Dumb and Dumber Harry and LIody Tuxedo costumes, Kim Possible And Ron Stoppable, Stitch and Lilo, and also Blades of Glory Costumes Spirit Halloween costume Stores!
I feel personally attacked by your blatant disrespect for the iconic Killer Klowns from Outer Space, sir.
The smokin’ pope
Hmm I wonder what "other industry" you could be referring to at 4:30 lol
did you buy anything? I kinda dig the giant jumping skeleton thing
Instead of “Holy Father”…just “Holy Daddy”
The one clown is from Killer Klowns From Outer Space
I feel like Universal has some influence in Sprit's lineup.....because if you think about it Universal parks are still profiting off movies from the 90's
10:32 I think I see the sword from the hobbit movie. Ya know what's weird? They always have Star Wars stuff and surprisingly still have Harry Potter stuff but never seem to have much stuff for lord of the rings/the hobbit. Not just for Halloween but in general. It's strange just it was a great series and people still love it. Does anyone at all even want do dress like an elf or a dwarf or hobbit or maybe dress like Aragorn or Gandalf or even Sauron?
Star Wars and Harry Potter are incredibly merchandise-friendly franchises. LotR certainly has its share of merch, but it's more limited in scope. It's harder to convert LotR into clothes/costumes that look cool and stylish. There aren't many options for women. It's not as popular with young kids as HP and SW are. And a lot of the LotR looks can be replicated with generic fantasy costume pieces. Why pay extra money for a licensed costume that's probably going to be very low quality?
But probably most important is that LotR doesn't get pushed on people the way those other franchises are. Disney and Warner Brothers put a LOT of effort into ensuring that SW and HP respectively stay in the public eye. There are theme parks, merchandise, new movies and shows. They make it a point to get young children interested in the series so they grow up to be adult fans. LotR hasn't gotten new content until very recently, with Amazon's series. If that succeeds, I'm sure we'll see costumes next year.
Retail Archaeology and That Nate Guy on UA-cam collaboration!!!!
Nah. Nate isn't that great. He just makes the same video over and over lol.
My dad bought some property back in 1997 that has a creep old two story barn, I have an October birthday and he managed to fill it with some very creepy animatronic figures back in 1998 that were way ahead of there time for back then I wish I knew where he got them
The annual Retail Archaeology Halloween video, great way to start the weekend! Some of the animatronics are pretty cool. Always enjoy seeing new content from your channel.
Isn't Spirit owned indirectly by Comcast-Universal via Spencer's? The Universal parks had "Beetlejuice" "houses" at the abbreviated Halloween Horror Nights in 2020 and 2021, and I imagine that there is a lot of leftover merchandise Comcast has to get rid of somehow.
If Spirit isn't owned by Comcast, I imagine a deal was cut.
just blew right past the Bob Ross section...........
Not sure where the Spirit Halloween store is at in my town. It’s not in the old Michael’s location that hasn’t been rented out since I was in school. It’s definitely not in the mall again in the old Sears since another store took that over. There isn’t many other places it could be. Unless it’s in the old mall that now houses a few businesses and no stores.
Do you have any empty Rue 21 stores? Because Spirit has taken over all of those in my area.
For the naughty priest what about something like "Father Daddy"?
. . . I'll see myself out
It is obviously a Luigi board.
I wouldn't mind Halloween coming early if it didn't mean it leaving early! Now if you wait until October to buy Halloween decor, most of the good stuff is gone. At least this isn't much of a problem for costumes, since a lot of people don't want to commit to a costume right away. I was so excited to be at Spirit I did buy mine early. Gonna be a werewolf!
Mine hasn't opened yet. Seveal in Virginia aren't opening until September. From 2018-2021 they used my local vacant Babies R Us. This year, they are moving next door to the to Office Depot
@Cyberstar Entertainment yes, I'm taking Woodbridge
It would be cool if Spirit Halloween sold horror movies.
While I don't play Fortnite, I really feel like it's slowly evolving into a real life Ready Player One deal. I mean you can be Goku with a Shotgun if you want!
8:48 Luigi board
I always wanted to buy a animatronic from Spirit but they are always out of my price range
That Clown from Killer Klowns from outer space looks sick! How much was that?
