      Same thing my dad said when I told him of this incident- it shows exactly what kind of guy Duran was to disregard all the misinformation out there about how you could contract aids and to simply embrace De Jesus and kiss him and also order his daughter to the same, what a heart that warrior had. I bet De Jesus had a warm glow in his heart after that visit, what an amazing guy Duran was.

      Ray bought off Duran's corner and they got Duran to sign for the rematch when he had no chance of being ready for the fight. Ray admits in the show 30 30 no mas, that his strategy was to get Duran in the ring at less than 100%. Now tell me, what kind of champ wants to fight a smaller fighter, past his prime, older....when he wasn't at his best? But Ray felt this is what he needed to win.....pretty sad.

      @@markherring3513 if you know the history.....Duran's 'people' made the fight, Duran was very pissed because he knew he didn't have time to be ready. His own 'people' told him to take the fight and the money and there will be a 3rd match. He was coerced into signing. Leonard paid off Duran's mgmt team and Don King. He gave Duran 8 million and as soon as the 1st bell went, it was deposited in Duran's Panama account. Duran said he took the fight to be a 'good soldier' so that everyone would get paid. Leonard made it about money, knowing Duran and his 'people' had never had a huge payday like the one for this fight. He bought them off and literally bought the belt back. Duran was a mess after because he realized his own people had went for the money over him. He was heart broken and his love for the game was gone. Bob Arum relight Duran's passion and Duran was fighting major fights again. Leonard did all this because he knew he could not beat Duran when he was at his best....shameful.

      @Sleeve Of Wizard Anyone can get caught with a punch fool. That is why Roberto gought Hagler 15 roundd compared to 3 rounds from Hearns. In addition, hekicked Sugar Raysass in first fight and Hearns losing in 14th. Duran beat Iran Barkley who koed Hearns. Come to Panama tough guy and see who'sculo get kicked. Duran never backed down from anyone in his career. #5 Ring Mag All Time. Where is Hearns?

    • @blite13
      @blite13 4 роки тому +3

      @Sleeve Of Wizard Ray fought Duran only if he was out of shape. In Montreal, when Duran was in shape, he beat Ray very convincingly. In New Orleans, Duran was not even half of what he was in Montreal and that is how Ray wanted it. Ray admitted in the show 30 30 no mas, he admitted that he wanted to fight an out of shape Duran and when he saw Duran partying it up after Montreal, he called Mike Trainer to get Duran's people to convince Roberto to sign for a fight he could not be ready for. Ray threw most of his purse at the Duran corner as incentive to get him signed. Duran's people told Roberto that there would be a 2nd rematch after the fight in New Orleans. Then Ray began to clown Duran in the ring and Roberto said no thanks and seeing that over 8 million was put into Duran's bank account right after the 1st bell rings for RD 1, Duran figured they couldn't do much about it. Why Ray isn't held more accountable for this is amazing, but this is how America is with their 'heroes'. They can do no wrong no matter how wrong they do.

    I am portorican and we hated Duran for beating EDJ. But as deep as it was our hate it was as strong our admiration for him because we knew Duran was simply better when it counted. Now, our admiration raised to another level when he came and did was you just displayed in this video. We have lots of love for him and he belongs to P.R.as much as to Panama.

    Boxing, regardless of how dangerous it can get is still entertainment. You don't want the fighters to get too badly hurt. You want them to be strong and healthy and ready for the next round of a bout. Displays of showmanship like these mean so much you can't help but feel good for these guys.

      So deciding to fight on - after being callously punched in the neck '2 seconds after the bell' and being informed by the ref you will win if you don't fight on with a 5 points advantage - is unremarkable, as accepting the ruling on offer is cowardice?
