You are correct the savings are significant. My husband is the family barber and stylist, he gives my two boys their haircuts every 3-4 weeks and I take a seat on the stool and he cuts my hair that reaches to my elbows every other month, plus he does his own in the bathroom mirror. I figure it saves me close to a grand a year. He always does a great job and I get asked where I take my boys to get haircuts as hubby does a better job than the barber. He also has given haircuts to my mom and a couple of my friends also have him trim their tresses. The like his work and that he likes long hair, so they know he will not get scissor happy on their hair, like the salon stylists always do. My best friend invited us to a picnic last month and she asked that hubby bring his hair scissors. He gave her a haircut after we ate and a friend of hers from work complimented him on doing such nice work and asked him to cut her hair that was long enough to sit on. She hadn’t had a haircut in over two years and she asked him to cut to her hips so she wouldn’t be sitting on it. Her husband loves his wife’s hair long and he concurred with his wife on the length before my husband cut her hair. So I know I have it good when not only my friends ask him to cut their hair, but her friend did as well.
He is very meticulous in making sure he does a great job every time. He also acquired the proper tools and supplies to do the haircuts right. He has the pro grade Japanese steel shears he sharpens himself, hair clips, wide tooth, fine tooth and sectioning combs, a pro grade quality set of Wahl clippers, capes and uses the neck strips to keep loose hair clippings from going down my boys’ necks and he uses the clippercide to lubricate and disinfect the clippers between haircuts. He does the full sectioning, pinning up and trimming my hair and my long haired friends. He doesn’t just grab a pair of kitchen shears and hack off chunks of hair. He doesn’t saw through ponytails either. He was asked if that wouldn’t be easier and he explained that trying to cut through too much hair at once results in the blades pushing the hair before it cuts, that would leave the hair uneven. That is why he does the sectioning and trimming each layer in increments so the shears cut a clean line. It takes a little longer, but I don’t want him to rush doing my hair and getting a not so good haircut.

Your husband has a great hair for a nice fade: Use the #2 as the reference line Then to "fade" that line, Used the highest desired, for example #8 guard open, then #8 closed, #7 open then #7 closed, #6 open then #6 closed, #5 open then #5 closed, #4 open and then #4 closed, #3 open the #3 closed the you meet in #2 again! Is pretty easy, just practice.

Many people asked how painful it was - only the initial needle in the nose (which about made my eyeballs pop out) - 30 days of social hiding then the corrective surgery was done. Now, remnants of the procedure are barely visible - but I still have fun with the picture..

It actually turned out pretty good besides me nicking his ear because he kept moving, lol. He spends about $25 at Sports Clips maybe once every 3 weeks and usually he ends up looking like a helmet head since his hair grows out fast. It’s going to save us over $400 every year. Not to mention I have 2 brothers and since it turned out pretty good, I’ll be cutting their hair too.
