I loved this one! After listening to all of Desi's podcasts, I have a much better working knowledge of theory. My theory chops have always been good, but now I have an even deeper understanding of things such as secondary dominants and voice leading.
Nice song that I haven’t heard in a long time. I’m glad Desi decided to bring it into focus for a tutorial. As always Desi is a master at explaining the song at length. You can’t help but learn plenty.
An all time favourite off mine which pops up now and then, especially at Christmas 😊 Enjoyed the lesson and explanations of secondary 7ths and voice leading thanks so much and of course Merry Christmas 🎉
Another great lesson. I love that you brought it to us during the holidays. I also appreciate that you included the tabbed sheet you created. I printed it and use it to practice the barre chord progressions. They are so much richer than the open chords. Thank you, and glad you’re out of YT jail.
Great, easy to understand overview of key music theory behind the song - including use of dissonance, leading voice, etc. As usual, a VERY useful tab from Desi as well. Definitely plan to add this to my repertoire. Thanks again for another succinct, interesting and useful lesson.
As an amateur jazz guitarist, I was familiar with these concepts and the chord analysis. Even so, the lesson reminded me of some of the internal lines of this song and thus possibilities for particular chord inversions for good voice leading. This is nicely done; Desi knows what he’s talking about. My experience playing with amateur rock musicians, however, is they are not apt to understand enough theory to appreciate this lesson. That said, these concepts are immensely useful to rock amateurs who wish to advance in their playing. Maybe that’s a good pitch to check out Desi’s courses?

This comprehensive analysis of an A major chord progression constitutes an in depth look at what carries this song and by reference all songs forward.
Great lesson, as always, Desi! The music notation along with the lesson was helpful!
Just listened to a recent podcast which lead me back to this video I’ve learnt a few things from this song about theory, thanks Desi!
Great song & great tutorial! Thanks again, Desi!
My pleasure!!

Thanks! I'm glad my instruction works for you. And it looks like UA-cam reversed the ban on this video. We'll see how long it lasts...

Thanks for the feedback, Jeff! I'm glad you enjoyed my take on this classic song.
Thank you, I wish you could teach how to play the piano part.
Sorry but I don't play piano.
Hi Desi, great video. What chorus are you using please?
It's just called "vintage chorus" in the kemper profiling amplifier.

Peut-être bien, mais le but était d’éclaircir la forme plutôt que d’apprendre à jouer. Y a d’autres bonnes vidéos pour ça.
Jailbreak!
