For any die hard fan of the movie Hocus Pocus, you probably know about a famous sequence that was cut from the movie, but was included in almost all of the original trailers. We dug through the vault, and found the missing pages of the script and meticulously recreated the famous grocery store scene where the witches gather ingredients for their candy crows. The story line of the witches being evil candy makers was ultimately cut from the movie presumably for time, and thus this scene ended up on the cutting room floor, and has never been seen since. As fans of the movie, it was a dream come try to film the scene as written on the page to share with everyone, finally!

I didn't know there was a plot hole in the movie. I just thought that the kids were in a trance only because the song affected small children and not teenagers. Nonetheless, this is amazing! I love Hocus Pocus.

This example is similar to the lengthy Jitterbug scene that was removed from the final cut of the "Wizard of Oz" back in 1939. Apparently the scene was cut for timing reasons and because it did not significantly advance the plot. Additionally, the producers were concerned that the jitterbug dance, a national craze at the time, would date the film. We believe that the editors in both films made the right choices. That's why the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has a separate category for editing, a specialized skill and artform that is often underappreciated by most of the movie going public.
The part when Winnie sees the "cauldron" for sale was a great impression of how Bette Midler would have enacted the role.

As usual for your productions, the actors were so painfully, awkwardly on point, that I don't think I'd notice that it wasn't already in the movie, and it definitely explains why Emily ran off with a strange woman in the first place. I think even the cast members would agree that this was a loving and faithful tribute to the film! Five stars!

WOOHOO! Hocus Pocus is so underrated. It's a hilarious story at quite a number of parts. In fact, I just watched the movie because I'd purchased a new DVD because I watched a scene to many times and then it got all scratchy from reversing and replaying that part if the film. It was the:

Just putting this out there as my two cents regarding this scene's exclusion from the movie.
Honestly, while it's an interesting Sub-Plot, I don't see it as creating a Plot Hole, as it was shown that those who were aware of the Witches' ability to charm people through song were resistant, if not completely immune. This is shown both in the beginning of the movie with the Village Elders telling the townsfolk to not listen to their singing before they were hanged, and at the party where Max and Dani try telling their parents to cover their ears during "I Put a Spell on You" (though it was too late as the parents were already charmed. The kids in 1993 didn't even known the witches were real, let alone alive, so they were easily charmed by Sarah's song.
Word for word that's EXACTLY what I've always thought for the last twenty-five years that I've been totally in love with the movie:) Hook pinkies!
This movie will always hold a special place in my heart! Many years ago I was put in a medivac helicopter due to a radiologist dissecting 80% of my internal carotid.😣 I was flown quite a distance to Philadelphia’s Jefferson hospital & I was put in the neurological ICU unit. As you could understand I was absolutely horrified! My nurse found a TV with a VCR unit and put in Hocus Pocus! God bless him! It was just enough to take my mind off of what was happening to me, and I will never forget him for his care and compassion 💕

@@WaterStar2398 There's an extended sequence of the Sisters exploring the high school. They come across a pool. Mary and Sarah accidentally push Winnie into the pool. When she gets out, she suggests forming another calming circle...and dries herself off by electrocuting her sisters
water star yes. They think the pool is “drowning water” for witches (as “drowning a witch” was a frequent method of torture for hunting witches in the old days). When Mary notices the diving board she says “They make them walk the plank”. Sarah and Mary actually intentionally push Winnie into the pool.
This had me SCREAAAAAMING!!! Omg EVERYTHING!
HA, you guys rock SO MUCH for this! It's PERFECTLY done, your hard work PAID OFF big time:):) They freaking KILLED that poor cashier! I've spent twenty-five years in love with the movie and up until now I just always figured it was Sarah's 'bewitching' voice targeting CERTAIN kids they picked out beforehand! Hey, I was HALF right! I also always reasoned that since Max and Allison had the book open with Dani nearby the magic that was protecting it protected THEM against the witches' powers;) I wish they'd just gone into the market ANYWAY since Winifred was trying to remember the recipe for the potion, imagine her trying to figure out what all of the strange groceries were in the cleaning products, frozen foods, and pet section! It could've totally worked if she used all kinds of random stuff to make some nasty mixture and then made Mary taste it and she ended up eating it because she thought it was delicious!
The way Winnie snatches the candy bag off the shelf. I do the same thing! 😂

How did I NOT know this was a thing? I've seen Pattycake videos before! What's funny is, I clicked on this because I am reading the Hocus Pocus book right now, so after watching "Grim Grinning Ghosts" and "Oogie Boogie's Song" by Voiceplay (not kidding, third in a row, Click! Brilliant! Click, Fantastic! Click OMG it's Layne and Tony! I LITERALLY fell off my chair! (And oh yeah, OW!!!) But I am so TOTALLY subscribed! Proves you guys ain't just gorgeous voices and faces! I kinda assumed because Max, Dani and Alison knew about the witches, they wouldn't be susceptible to the song -- like in "I Put A Spell On You": the adults hadn't eaten candy crows, they just didn't know about the witches so they were susceptible to the spell. By that logic, the same could be said for "Come Little Children". That's how I always thought of it anyway 🙂
That was satisfying to watch. 😏 So nice to see it performed. Loved how they really showed how evil Mary really is.... but in such a comedic way.

What I've never understood was ... If this scene was left in the movie, Winnie can remember the spell for making candy crows and the spell for raising the dead but she can't remember the spell to make them young forever
I think it's because she used those spells more than once secretly, so she memorized them. It's kinda obvious that she hadn't used the youth spell before, so she didn't have a chance to memorize it
