I didn't like the Alterna sites soundtrack at first, but the songs really started to grow on me because of how... this isn't even a pun... fresh they felt. They felt like a nice change from the usual high-energy songs of the cephalopods. I feel like this might've been made by the humans.
jukebox confirms that the vinyl discs you find on the floor in alterna (the decoration ones, not the ones that change the music) have the songs for the different maps on them
I feel like this is one of the most important themes. You can practically feel the change humanity went through, all the way up until their permanent extinction
Too bad it's only when you get the record and not when you enter Alterna. Can you imagine if there was a menu option to select which record you want to play?
SPOILERS FOR SPLATOON 3: This song fits the area so well. Since the site is called "Future Utopia Island," it sounds exactly like one, a new home for all of the survived humans to rebuild humanity and prosper; as desolate and hidden this underground tunnel was, this island, and Alterna as a whole, was a utopia. Alongside the uplifting nature of this song, there is also another factor to this theme which makes everything feel like it's not completed yet, like the Alternans were still in the starting process to repairing civilization. This song represents the humans beginnings of the long difficult journey that would span generations to take back the planet from their mistakes for good... at least until they were all wiped out from the rocket taking them to the surface exploding. It's truly sad.
The Moai statues are also quite symbolic. To me they symbolise self-destruction, which is based on the popular theory that the people who made them (the Rapa Nui people) famously destroyed themselves by depleting Easter Island of all its natural resources, dooming their civilisation.
Also, to be clear - the rocket itself didn't explode on its own, it overloaded the psychoactive crystals the sky-dome uses (that later became Ink) and THOSE exploded catastrophically. The remnants of those crystals (unexploded, presumably) went on to "infect" aquatic life and eventually gave rise to Inklings and the other abnormally intelligent aquatic life now thriving on the surface. Inklings are essentially the ghosts of Humanity, the inheritors of the will of the last humans - which is probably why they're, uh, "quirky".
I feel like the vocals are coming from Callie and Marie because their base camp is settled there, and it's the only island track with vocals. Like they are singing to pass the time
@@cookiekatzzz46 future utopia Island is the most cheery island since it's basically The protagonist's innocent looks on human society, and as the player progresses, they lose that sense of warmth about the humans. Until they realized that in happiness research lab that the humans are the reason they are alive, accepting their mistakes and passing
If you listen to the distorted vocals that play in the background very carefully... do they sound familiar? Upon doing a comparisson, they sound like the heavily distorted vocals of 'the girl from inkopolis.' from splatoon 2!
For example Shooting Starfish is Calamari Inkantation Octo Eight-Step is City of Color (or Maritime Memory) Buoyant Boogie is Now or Never Ohhhh wait......... Ink Me Up
This title hits harder when you 100% story mode. Because of the extinction of humans in Alterna, the hope for a utopia in this land has been left in the air, However, after you completely survey all of Alterna, you shaped it into the peaceful place the humans dreamt of. It's no longer a future utopia, because you made it a utopia of the present.
light vaporwave for science majors
vaporwave beats to save humanity to
Trap beats to make the Alternans utopia better to
EDM for CEOS of morally grey scienctific corporations

Oooorrrrr the Alternans made the singing.

This is my favorite theme from alterna. This song tells so much without saying anything
it is criminal nintendo wants me to go here every day to activate the sheldrone, and expect me NOT to stay there for like 10 minutes jamming to this?

Octo Eight-Step is City of Color (or Maritime Memory)
Buoyant Boogie is Now or Never

Ahhhh yes, that heavenly melody.
I love this song so much. There's just something about it that's so bittersweet. It's a literal drug and so addicting 😭
