@@AkuJuo I've been playing pirate games for 20 years. Sea of theives is by far the best enjoyable pirate game i've ever played. Its just so vast, unique, and personable and its given the game both accessibility and long term replay ability for all sorts of people.

Skull and bones is garbage they are not trying g to compete with that lmao. They know they have to pump out content FAST because they last 2 and half years have been nothing but QoL updates. They went all out and good for them we will see if players come back after how low the games been for 2 years though.

Looks like the dev team finally woke up from nap time in school
They spent the entire past year putting in the work with huge QOL updates and systemic changes to make sure the foundation of the game was accessible, fun, and more dynamic in how a server can change.
They did what I could only DREAM other live service dev teams would do. Instead of just pushing out slop every month to retain players they are ensuring everything they put out is quality and is on the most solid foundation possible. Even if it means players have to wait a year for new content, the game will feel leaps and bounds better now when that content drops.
I'm astounded by how Rare after 6 years continues to not only make their game better but do so for free on such a regular basis.

That burning ship is such a 200 IQ idea. Making a super powerful ship, but then adding the fact that if you lose it, or don't cash in and lose the ship at some point, you have a higher and higher risk of losing all that special artifact loot because players will be hunting you constantly. It balances itself out, because its not just 1 ship anymore that you sail arouand forever in being unstoppable. There is high incentive to use the ship, but not keep it. It's absolutely brilliant.

The best thing about this entire game is watching Summit tuck on a ship with hot mics
the actual best thing is that you watch this instead of having friends but these guys you donate your mom's money to will NEVER play with you. EVER. they would hate you in person, just like all the other people youre not hanging out with.

Oh, you're solo in a sloop going against the wind because you're trying to run away from the 4-stack on the Galleon behind? Well tough luck, they have more speed now, because of the wind blower. You have a wind blower of your own? Well that cool, but you better go repair those holes in your ship before you sink, while the galleon uses the same to catch up, misses all the boarding shots and then uses the grapling gun to make up for their lack of skill and board you.

This will be on of those instances where i feel like some items are going to be OP and we are at ground zero when that happens. Months from now you will look back and be like "Dang i miss when i could jump off a mountain and use my wind blower to reduce my damage and now i can't"
Tucking with a skelly bomb on hand could be awesome
Skelly bomb can also counter tucking, the AI will go after whoever is tucking.

It will be interesting to see the time span of the skeletons and the level of them. And if you can use more than one or if the first skeletons will disappear.

grapple gun seems like it should be a 1 time use item to me

It takes a weapon slot, so if you are using it to board you cant really do much except try and lower the anchor. Any half decent crew will catch the anchor, and then your stuck with one weapon to deal with the the rest of the crew. Just let it come out and then save our judgment for then.
My thought is, this might create cross-ship fleets being created. Like, people might form fleets of 2-3 ships to join together and challenge the flameheart control by players, and then become one single fully formed crew on it.
i mean, that kinda already happens with alliances. ive been in 4 ship alliances before

With that grapple gun I'm seeing the case where you shoot out of a canon back to town and 180 and grapple the loot you want to turn in as you fly away.
One thing I can already foresee players trying to do, which would be SUPER cool if it works out the way I think it could : The grapple sniper thing is gunna have a limited range, much less than, say, the range of a cannon.
The sniper grapple hook can be hooked onto players.
Players can be shot out of cannons.
Friendly player climbs into a cannon, teammate instantly shoots the sniper grapple thing onto their teammate, getting WAY more range than intended (say you're trying to board an enemy ship, but they're too far for the sniper grapple thing to reach on its own).

The grapple hook taking up one weapon slot seems fair, hopefully they add ways to counteract those grapples, like knocking them off in the middle of grappling

Stamina is actually your crew controlling the ship. Skull and bones did it all right. Unlike sea of thieves cartoon graphics firing powder guns under water.

So the flameheart thing is just basically going to be a roaming king of the hill event? Pretty much there will be the regular stuff going on in the game but there will also be the first crew to join that ship and then trying to complete their tasks while multiple other teams try and take the ship away from them and take over. It will be a constant fight to try and maintain that powerful ship and seeing how long you can stay on it. I wonder if there will be some really special reward if you can actually manage to complete all of the missions without losing the ship first or something along those lines.

they spent years with their hands tied, now that they don't need to launch any telltales or do 2 world events a year they can focus on what the community wants, we love the pirates life telltale but disney was a problem.
the thing is, if u are using the grapple gun, u'll only have 1 damage weapon to balance too
It'll just be people flying around the whole time. They're gonna have to nerf tf out of that wind thing and a bunch of it.
The wind item is a pick up item found around islands, it acts as an Ashen wind skull and it's not a loadout weapon, the grappling hook seems busted for boarding but I doubt they will keep it that way since it'll come with season 14.

@@riahisamaYeah, S14 is ages out, and the dev team has never revealed anything that far out before. Not even to insiders, and we've seen things change significantly from the time it's given to insiders to the time it releases.
I'd imagine the ammo count will have to be fairly low. And if it can hook onto ships there would need to be a readily available counter otherwise players would just launch out above ships and drop straight down on the anchor very easily.
Well, they mentioned that it'll have limited usage, so there's that.
You cannot run away from bigger ships anymore, if you are solo sloop sell often as possible
summit is going to find the best hiding spot on that ship mark my words lol
and even without a good spot you can just try your luck pretending to be a chest and get carried in with the rest of the loot 🤯
most likely the skeletons are gonna hunt him down on the ship, maybe he could hide in the crows nest but if that's the only safe spot (assuming there isn't a skeleton sniper like the skelly galleons have) players are going to be checking up there for tuckers. guess we will have to do some testing when its out.

what i imagine is if the grapple gun counts as a weapon, it basically trades combat power for mobility, like if it takes a slot you cant double gun, also if the wind caller is in play imagine finally getting a board to get air blasted off the ship and using a shot from the gun to scramble back on. it definitely will be an item that will need a tweak one week into the release but with all the previous stuff announced I don't think it'll be AS busted as people are believing on first watch... guess we will have to see when it gets released at the end of the year

I really think they should add an axe to the game that deals more damage than the Cutlass, is MUCH slower, but it is capable of damaging structures on the ship such as the mast, or wheel (but not poke holes in the ships hull).

A slower, heavy hitting weapon would be pretty awesome though I'm so sure about boat damage. Maybe allowing a charge up ability and take out multiple enemies at once (Mainly PvE).

The windcaller will be interesting. What is you can have one member using it and when it is used the next person in the crew will continue and so on. And maybe you can fill it up on the ship somewhere.
I doubt you can refill it at least on ship. It probably works same way as the trident or it would be too broken.
