      My last frenchie was like that and then all of a sudden bam. I had to keep my little dude inside a hoody so he wouldn't run off and pee somewhere he wasn't supposed to. I'm sure he's gotten it figured out in 11 months.

      @zannahmartell9813 hi! My pups just turned 1! June 30th🥳 they are such sweet boys.. One was born with a "spine disorder." I'm not sure of the medical term. We didn't know this till he was about 10 months old.... He is incontinent now of both bowel and bladder and can't feel his back legs.😪 He's not in any pain, and I bought him kid pullups for when he comes inside... and a puppy stroller for walks... May need to get him a back leg wheelchair... x-rays for his condition was over 300.. his Dr. Did say It was something he was born with. MRI was scheduled to determine more info.. but it was between 5 and 7 thousand dollars where we live..and I have no idea how much surgery would be..Crazy Right!!But as long as he is happy and pain free. That's all we care about. ❤️ that was probably alot..

    My Frenchies ( I had 2 ) and they were super easy to potty train. Both were house broken in 3 weeks. I have had corgis, Rhodesian ridgebacks, and pit bull terriers. My Frenchies were the easiest to house train . With that said, I had 2 males and one of them wanted to mark his territory in the house after I brought home the second male. I had to watch him all the time to keep him from marking.

    AN amazing tip that’s worked for me.
    BUY a GOOD METAL CRATE … THE one with the divider in the middle for two dogs.
    The beginning of the training
    Use one side for their HOME ENVIRONMENT AND the other side put a puppy pad
    Soon with your training they will only poop on the other side
    Now you can remove the pad so they can have it memorized.
    Also they learn to keep their AREA CLEAN.
    Now you can do the same anywhere in your house
    Put their bed and wherever and a puppy pad next to the outside door so they know where to go now it’s just teaching them to pee outside so put a pad outside at that point ! Hope this helps !

    Hi Lisa thanks and great video. If you are in an apartment and using the crate with artificial grass as a puppy pad for toilet training, is it good to reward with treats when he goes on the turf as opposed to when he goes outside? Similar to other comments, I am concerned about taking him outside on the grass while he is a puppy and will likely use the artificial turf for a short time until getting his second vaccine

      How’s it going? In the same boat. Have a 4 month old. Have been consistently doing all the things mentioned for 2 months, but he pees inside even if he peed a lake outside 5 minutes before. Feel like the poor guy is spending his life in the crate. Can’t trust him to walk around the house for even 10 minutes. He has a dog door & knows how to use it but doesn’t associate going out the dog door with peeing. He seems to only go out to check the weather. Most frustrating pup potty training experience ever. I read a lot of posts about Frenchies being hard & thought, “I’ve trained all my past pups easily-won’t happen to me.” WRONG! So much for doing all the right things for 2 weeks & then having a trained pup. Trainers make it sound so easy, but it isn’t always. You’re not alone. :(

    This might be a silly question but if I am crate training during potty training should I put a pee pad in the crate in case there is accidents? I only have to leave her for MAX 3 hours once a week from when she is 12 weeks-15 weeks then I have off from school, hence why I got her during this time of the year. I want to be able to keep her crate clean but I don't want the pee pad to confuse her that the crate is an OK place to use the bathroom. And now i'm wondering if I should not use pee pads at all except for in her play pen, not specifically her crate, when i'm gone for that 3 hr period.

    • @LisaGallegos
      @LisaGallegos  3 роки тому +1

      I’d recommend a puppy gate around the crate! Then put a grass patch (ideally real but fake works too) in the gated area :) I don’t really recommend pee pads just because they feel pretty similar to the floor which can cause issues later.

I personally also give my dogs a probiotic, and prebiotic (supersnouts pumpkin latte supplement). And that helped then have good poops! The feeding and drinking must be on a schedule and as soon as they eat and drink they need to be taken out to potty with a treat in hand so they happily follow you, make sure you are using key words for them like outside potty while you walk them. Once they poop, pee or both give them the treat! This must be done on the same schedule until they get used to potty outside… my pup goes right back into his crate area after his potty and sometimes a quick indoor supervised play. If we wait to long he will sometimes potty while he is on his way to the door… but we still take him out so he can finish. Consistency is key and exhausting but necessary 😅😰😵‍💫😴

    You've earn a subscriber, I just decovered your page. I've been doing everything you said for 8 straight days. With one exception. I take him out every 3 hours overnight. He's 12 weeks. How long do you suspect it will take before I can give him free range? BTW I take him out every 1 hrs and 20 min.

      I know it's frustrating, but dogs naturally pee where they feel most comfortable doing it. Remember, dogs are animals, and we have to build that reinforcement history peeing outside. Have you tried doing an intense weekend where you just focus on potty training?

    The crate training for potty training has never worked for me.
    All of mine have been crate trained.
    But if they need to potty....and they're not trained....THEY WILL use their crate.
    I'm not sure the part you said about them not wanting to pee on themselves either.
    They are tiny. And they just came from a home where they literally peed and pooped everywhere and mom was cleaning it up.
    Maybe when they're older and potty trained, they won't poop or pee in the crate....but little bitties do not know better.

    • @LisaGallegos
      @LisaGallegos  Рік тому +1

      If they come from a puppy mill / situation where they can’t really find a spot not to pee on themselves, the crate won’t work.
      Or if they’re not taken out soon enough. Or the crate is too big.
      But it’s not natural/healthy for them to want to pee on themselves while they’re laying down.
      A good breeder will also start the potty training process.

    I've been told not to take our puppy outside until he has had his 12 week old jabs? So do we just start outside once he is 12 weeks old? If so what do we do just use puppy pads inside instead?

    • @LisaGallegos
      @LisaGallegos  Рік тому

      Your backyard or right outside your house should be ok. You don’t want to expose them where there has been parvo is the main thing. But having your dog live in a bubble until all their jabs is also going to almost guarantee socialization issues, so it’s a fine balance between physical and mental health. If you have a yard and no parvo exposures you should be ok. Also a grass patch can work, but also make sure you’re enrolling in a puppy socializing class where they disinfect for parvo and everything

    The french bulldog is a torture breed and must suffer from the bred restrictions all his life. He cannot lead a normal life. As a rule, the owner has to cope with high veterinary costs. Please do not buy a pug. Do not support the breeding of such sick dogs.

    Help! I've had my Frenchie for a little ober a month. I believe she is 5 months old. The owner beforehand intended on having her be a cashcow and just breeding her, so he pretty much had her in a playpen all day with some peepads laid on the ground. Obviously unacceptable. SHe has peed on beds multiple times and only pees and poops indoors. I walk her pretty often, however sometimes she gets anxious being outside and doesn't want to walk very long. I don't really encounter this problem at night and can walk her for extended periods of time. The problem is that she NEVER pees or poops outside. She loves sniffing. I've seen her pee outside once, and never poop in the time I've had her. ON the plus side, my house has never smelled better since I'm always cleaning, but in turn my powerbill has gone up significantly because I'm doing 5x the laundry. Thank you, and I hope to hear from someone for some much needed help.

    • @LisaGallegos
      @LisaGallegos  2 роки тому +1

      Oh man…it’s much harder when they’ve been peeing on themselves in these types of situations. It’s essentially them learning to deal w the trauma of being stuck in the playpen all day and then getting used to it. I would connect with a trainer or even better, a vet behaviorist as they can help with more intense cases like this!
      I have helped clients with similar issues but it’s hard to help in this format where I don’t do a full intake of your set up/history/etc since it sounds more anxiety related

      @demonsinmysemon 2 роки тому

      @@LisaGallegos I'm not sure on what to do. Basically as soon as she wake up, I have a small playpen with pads and she has been pretty good about peeing on them right away, not peeing around the house too often. Her behaviour outside seems to be getting better but still no relief outside. However, I took her to my brother's house, he has a labmix, and she plays and plays with her for hours. She even peed outside (my brother has a pool and backyard, I do not). Not sure if my further explanation helped, but asking a vet seems like the next order of business is to reach out to trainers.
