    Attaching your snot rag to the strap of your bag is SO smart. Doing this from now on! :)

      Great way to lose some weight! My partner at the time suggested it and it's also sooo easy to pack away into my pocket or bumbag too!

    Finally after watching so many PCT gear videos someone who actually has a sensible pack and tent. Osprey are built for comfort and the MSR tent that doesn't need treking poles. I have gone the same way as you and was starting to think i was the only one 🙂 BTW will you ever release full length video/s of your PCT adventure ?

    I really liked seeing the gear after your hike, with its post-trail patina, as opposed to the more common pre-hike gear videos. How many Smart Water bottles did you go through?

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  Рік тому +1

      I considered making one prior to starting but decided against it as I wasn't fully sure if I had made some of the right decisions, which I found out I hadn't! I changed and dropped out some stuff along the way so this is truly a real collection of everything I had on trail by the end 😁 I ended up only going through 4 bottles, I cleaned them as thoroughly as I could in towns 🤣🤣

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  Рік тому

      Hey! Thank you so much! I adored the Sierras and the entire state of Washington pretty much. I'm a mountain girl, I found the desert less desirable. The North Cascades were possibly my absolute favourite section. AWESOME! You will have a blast!

    Good stuff! Thanks for sharing your gear.... I am curious how you found the OR Helium rain jacket? Good enough for a long hike on the PCT?

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  Рік тому +1

      I feel so, yes! It did me really well. I used waterproofs to wear when doing laundry in towns, and it held up very well in a couple of big storms I got caught up in on my last week on trail!!

    Loved your video!! I was wondering how the 48L pack was for when you had to carry a bear canister?

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  5 місяців тому

      It was surprisingly ok!! Took some experimenting for how to fit everything in alongside it, but I ended up opting for stuffing my quilt & tent, cannister wedged in the middle of them and then everything else on top!

    Running shorts are the only true way. I had Soffe running shorts that came with a liner and had no chafing.

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  Рік тому

      Yes these have a liner and they're always just my go-to for running, so I figured they'd be great for trail too.

    Awesome video! How did you find the rainjacket? Was it enough protection or would you prefer something heavier if you did it again?

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  Рік тому

      I really recommend the rain jacket, I managed to find it for £30 in an outlet when brand new it should have been £130. It held up really well even in a huge storm I got caught in on my final week on trail!!

      it’s a cup that goes into the vaginal canal to catch everything

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  5 місяців тому

      It's an alternative to a tampon. Catches everything, then you empty it every 12 hrs! Reusable & very easy for trail

    I noticed you sprung holes on the big toes of your Injinjis...i have the same problem. How did you deal with that on trail? Sew em up?

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  Рік тому +1

      Honestly, I constantly ran into this issue and so did my friend! We just kept sewing them back up several times a week yeah. I never found a pair that didn't have this happen to them!

    I’m torn between a large waist pack, medium or small. Yours looks quite large. Did it get in the way of your walking? Did you ever find it to be suffocating or annoying? If you did the pct again, would you still wear a large waist pack? Thanks

    • @EllenMelon99
      @EllenMelon99  Рік тому +1

      I started off with a small one and found it was just too inconvenient to stuff things into. I always had a lot of snacks on the go and I'd like to stuff my camera away too, so I changed to the Melooki bumbag in Julian. It was pretty big but I never found it got in the way, I just adjusted it so it fitted me perfectly. I'd 100% have the bumbag again, in fact I still use it now on smaller hikes. I never found it to be annoying or suffocating, but that's just me! I know a ton of hikers who also changed to a larger one because they ended up bringing more snacks etc. than expected

      I did most of it with a group and with friends and a trail family, then the last month solo. I wouldn't say it sucks, if you enjoy your own company then it's a really peaceful and therapeutic time
