As a lover of all of Scott Joplins works, and avid promoter/performer of his pieces, I think this is a Great Idea, but I hope more attention is payed to Mr. Joplin's Musical vision.
Treemonisha is a folk Fable Opera it was performed many times in Joplin lifetime himself with orchestra people don't know history there's nothing wrong with the original Opera is a masterpiece
Treemonisha doesn't need any rewriting is a folk fable grand opera Scott Joplin was a genius they're trying to think they're better than Joplin where's the humility? The best way to perform Joplin's Pulitzer prize-winning treemonisha is just the way Joplin wrote it.
DOES IT REALLY NEED "REINVENTING'? IT HASNT EVEN HAD THE CHANCE TO FULLY BE KNOWN AND APPRECIATED IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM AND FOLKS ALREADY TRYING TO CHANGE IT SMH.
No treemonisha is a grand opera Masterpiece it's not a literal at the table was like Mozart's Magic Flute and of some of the best music in Opera ever they don't need to change anything they just need to perform the way Joplin wrote it
dont change it because women need more popularity. This is music not rights Its better for it to be the way he wrote it. If anyone needs popularity is Scott Joplin's will aw man i have a feeling the one in 1970s is better
Scott Joplin wrote Treemonisha as an Opera there is nothing wrong with it now there adding r&b songs to it ?? And changing it all up what is their next project painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa ? You dont mess with a Masterpiece
There is no music missing from treemonisha Joplin published the score himself in 1911 what you are referring to is Joplin's 1903 Opera a guest of honour which is unfortunately lost
This "reinvention" of Treemonisha is out of poor taste and not at all faithful to the original opera. Why can't people be faithful to the original score? Why is it that everything has to be so politically driven these days? I'm an absolute fan of Scott Joplin and his works and seeing his original score being torn apart for the sake of political correctness is heartbreaking. This video shows that these people have no respect for Joplin's musical vision and clearly know nothing of Joplin's history and the influence his music had on American music back then and even still to this day. It's appalling to see this masterpiece, Joplin's Magnum Opus, being stepped all over and soiled like this. This is tragic and shameful.
Define culture. Even in Europe, we see Italian culture, Russian culture, German culture, French culture. All of these cultures are different, but they all have opera! So if an Italian opera can exist and a Russian opera can exist, I don't see why an American opera can't exist, either.
UMMM THE ENTIRE MIDDLE AMERICA WAS FRANCE "LOUISIANE" LONG BEFORE IT BECAME AMERICAN, AND BEFORE IT WAS LOUISIANE IT WAS NEW SPAIN...AGAIN SO ITS EVERY BIT OF OUR CULTURE AS IT IS 'EUROPEAN"

Adding new crappy music into Joplins Operatic Masterpiece and changing Joplins libretto will kill Treemonisha its Opera Not R&B music get over it

It’s a shame that chunk of the manuscript was disposed of.
