  • *UPDATE* 4 months in and I am loving this washer-dryer even more than when I first got it! It's still running great with no problems. Pro tip: to minimize wrinkles, especially with sheets and duvets, take the items out after the wash cycle and shake them out before beginning the dry cycle instead of going straight to dry. This really makes a difference in cutting down on ironing (or maybe I am just neurotic about wrinkles!)
    Thank you all for watching! Please subscribe to my channel if you found this helpful :) The pros and cons of a 2-in-1 combination washer dryer unit like the LG washer/dryer combo or Midea combination washer/dryer.

    I have this in the mastertech version and I love it!! I like that it automatically heats up the water according to your selection. I'm single no kids so its perfect for me, plus it saves a lot of space. The dry cycle starts off a bit long 5 hours but it automatically goes down to 1.5 hours after the first 20 mins of just extra spindrying. I usually just stick to the one hour wash dry setting. It drys everything except maybe heavy demin, which comes out a little damp. Did I mention that I love it

    • @Kenishia
      @Kenishia 2 місяці тому +1

      @@katriannam Yes, I got it just shy of 3 years ago and I love it! It has a smaller cabin than most standard front load machines so the most I’ve ever washed in it at any single time is my duvet insert/comforter and I’ve had no issues doing that, even though it’s a pretty snug fit.
      My standard wash/dry load consists of approximately 5-6 bath towels and I’m able to wash and dry them with ease. I don’t use the 1 hour wash/dry cycle because it only washes for 5-10 mins and then begins the dry cycle. I personally like to wash my laundry longer.
      In terms of drying, I put it on the standard “dry only” setting that lasts for 5h 39m, and the sensor usually decreases the drying time to about half or a third of that time depending on the size of the load. I also like that the machine heats up the water on its own so I didn’t need to install any additional pipes. It also does great even if the water pressure is low!
      Major downsides: It gets a bit loud when spinning/drying and the rubber seal around the opening tends to pick up a lot of lint after drying towels (this doesn’t happen with regular laundry) so you’ll need to clean that part pretty consistently. I use old dryer sheets or a wet microfiber cloth to scrape the lint off the seal as well as inside the crevice.
      I hope this was helpful! Shoot me any other questions you have and I’ll be more than happy to answer.

      I've got the bigger 10kg/7kg washer drier version. Anyone who reads this buy another machine please! it has a major drying flaw and if you use it daily for drying it will slowly get wetter and wetter and just after a year stop drying at all. it has no lint filter so the lint ends up clogging the fan which then overheats the first thermostat after it. You can reset it by taking the top lid off and there is a button between the connection on the thermostat. I did but it still wasn't drying very good at all. I Pulled the fan out to inspect and the blades where caked full of lint. I Would not buy one again.

      @@Nosyagent hi, I've had my first one replaced just after 1 Yr it had a motherboard fault in the end and just threw error codes and did not run, my new replacement one after a while when the lint built up I would clean it, but then the fan would not run correctly and was too slow and would over heat the unit and pop the resettable fuses inside the unit. I got another fan from another unit which the fan spin speed is faster than the standard one it now sound like a little jet but it actually dries way way better and I've never had to clean the lint of the fan yet and the clothes come out bone dry not that slight damp feeling.

    hi - just wanted to share my research result - the reason why it takes longer time to dry is because this type of all-in-one machine all uses lower/regular volt wiring (110v) as you mentioned you don't need a big plug... whereas the regular vent dryer uses 240v power which provides the heat much quicker. This is why all brands all-in-one dryers take longer time to dry. :)

  • @armarra
    @armarra Місяць тому

    I've looked into these.. quite literally..
    Insit they gave either a heat pump or a condenser. Both of these are different from the traditional dryer in that neither send moist are into the laundry. The reason the door cannot be opened during drying is that the condenser type uses a very high heater to dry the clothes by the evaporation of water from them and then the condensation of that vapour into a cold metal housing that then drops into the drainage section of the machine. By opening the door the heat is lost and the dryer time is massively increased.
    Now the long dryer time is a trade off for efficiency. By having a longer cycle the machine is able to use smaller power elements and this translates to lower energy bills but the inconvenience of higher washing times.
    Well done to spot the damp clothes red herring.
    Also the condensation tubes on these are quite small and are vulnerable to being blocked with lint so don't neglect the cleaning of the machine.
    I bought a whirlpool decor hand and I'm fixing it as the dryer element had broken so I'm seeing how the condensation part works. In more humid climates the heap pump may be the better option. Yes the drum is smaller but it has no agitator and it is kinder on the clothes and uses a lot less water.
    Enjoy..

      Using the short cycle and high speed spin I was able to sort and hang up most of the items that were damp dry thus leaving the towels to the dry cycle. Improve your drying by checking the following assembly issue. Take the top off by removing 2 screws and pulling top towards back. You will see condenser hose (has yellow jacket on hose) is zipped tied to back of machine. This causes a kink in the hose (look at back left). If you undo the zip tie you relieve the kink. If this hose cannot flow water then the condenser cannot do it’s job. I just bought this model and found mine has this problem. Let me know if yours has this issue.

    • @cabanastateofmind

      Typically it would connect to the normal hookups for a regular washer and dryer, the ones that kind of look like a hose spigot. But I hear this model can also be used with your kitchen sink or bathtub water hookups, you will probably need a special connector. Also it does need a way to drain, so you could run the drain hose into the sink/tub. You do NOT need to have a hole for an external vent, that is one of the conveniences of this machine.

    • @cabanastateofmind

      Yes, it's a steam dryer so the water will be running when the dry cycle is on. I don't care for dryer sheets so I don't use them, but you could always throw one in between the wash and dry cycles. The cycles don't run back to back, you have to start each one separately, so there's an opportunity to put a dryer sheet in or take out any clothes you don't want to shrink.

      Have you cleaned the lint out of the fan and drain tub? It will help significantly with dry time! I am going to make a video soon showing how to do this, but I will try to describe it here... you remove the top of the machine via two small screws on the backside. From there you will see a round motor attached to a fan, and attached to that is a big white plastic container or tub. You can access the inside of these via the screws surrounding the fan. Once you open this up you will likely find a TON of lint! When you clean it out regularly it helps keep the dry time minimal.

      Unfortunately we moved 2.5 years ago and left this unit behind, so I can’t say whether it’s still in action. HOWEVER one thing I would say is in hindsight, I probably would have paid more for the LG version, which I am guessing comes with better support. When we did have an issue with this unit (the control board got zapped and needed to be replaced) it was so difficult to get in touch with anyone from the company because they’re not based in the US. Just something to think about depending on where you’re located

    In looking for q review in a motor home, there are none. My only question would be, Do they shake much? I just bought one that is a year old, they bought a big house so opted for a bigger set. I'm anxious to try it and I'm sure it will be fine. I like the fact that is ventless so I don't have holes to drill in my R.V. As you say, they take longer, but I'm alone so I don't care how long it takes.:-) I want to thank you for your review... it helped me make a decision. -keith

    I still don't understand how it works. Does the washer dry the clothes? That's a plus if you don't have to unload the washer and put them in the dryer. 3 hours is way too long to dry. Did your electricity bill spike when you started using this?

    • @cabanastateofmind
      @cabanastateofmind  5 років тому +2

      Yep! It's a combination washer and dryer. You don't have to unload, but with this model you do have to press a button to start the dry cycle. At first I thought this was annoying but now I like that I have the option to take things out that I don't want to shrink, etc. My electricity bill did not seem to be impacted in any way by this machine.

    • @cabanastateofmind
      @cabanastateofmind  5 років тому +2

      Yes. The machine stops after washing and you have to tell it which dry cycle you want to use, then start the dryer. So you could take out clothes and hang them then. You just can't stop to take clothes out halfway through the dry cycle. Thanks for watching!

      Yep, that's the starting time (4 hours, 5 minutes) for how long it will take to dry. The lowest setting on mine starts at 3:30. BUT it doesn't usually actually take that long. The time will drop based on how fast it's drying. Mine usually takes around 2-2.5 hours to dry a load. Still a long time but not quite as bad as four hours!

    A few questions for you Tammy. Being ventless have you found that the humidity and/or heat increase in the room as you use the dryer function? Also being only a 120 volt dryer and not a 240 volt dryer it will draw (consume) twice as much current (or run twice as long to accomplish the same drying level) have you found a noticeable difference in your electric bill? Any idea if they make a gas version of this where the dryer is using NG or LP for it's heating rather than electricity?

    • @cabanastateofmind
      @cabanastateofmind  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Christopher! I do not find that the humidity increases in the room. This is the only washer/dryer we have ever had since we moved to New York (were in FL previously), so I don't have much to compare the electric bill against. I'm not sure about the gas aspect, but our hot water is gas heated so I think that's where the majority of the heat comes from. This isn't like a normal dryer where it heats up electrically. Some other commenters have explained better how it works, but it's the steam & evaporation that does the drying, from what I understand.

    Now that it’s been 4 years, how how do you feel about it now? We’re thinking about getting a w/d combo, I’m wondering if they have improved over the years, living in a small apartment, this would be ideal.

      So, we moved out of that house and left the w/d behind about a year and a half ago. Our new place has a normal washer and dryer and I have to say, they are much more convenient (faster!!!). I forget how the ventless dryer works exactly but it's more effective than you might think. Clothes can feel a bit "damp" when they first come out because of the humidity in there but if you shake them out, hang them or lay them out they're dry in a few minutes.

      That is because it uses water from the inlet to cool the condenser unit. Sometimes up to 50 litres! I was thinking of buying a washer dryer unit but changed my mind after finding that out. The strange thing is, if you buy a condenser dryer on it's own it's an air-cooled unit.... Really can't understand why this wasn't the standard in washer/dryer units.
