Thanks for posting the video! I've just bought a skiving knife and this is very helpful. One thingI know from using other blades is rather than re-grinding on sand paper when your blade starts to loose its edge you may want to try stropping the blade on a piece of leather. Maybe that will work for you :).

Excellent tutorial. I have one of these knives but have never used it. After watching this video I will give it a try. I'm going to need a lot of practice to get proficient.

I live in a 2m plus city, but there are 2 shops, Tandy and other shop is much more leathers in the shop than Tandy, but they don't have splitter machine even for customers. They sell certain thickness leathers, but in many countries has splitting service . I can skive with a knife(I have 3 good quality knives, plus a skiving knife with a round edge. I had one French edger from Tandy, but not so great, then bought from a Chinese seller and recently bought from Palosanto(best-supplied with sharing board, plus blue honing materials). Even you buy an expensive splitter, you can't get service, in case there are problems with it.

Hi! I was wondering then where do you guys get that skiving service? Even when you have a machine, you need to skive broad surface in advance. Maybe it's just me. But maybe it could be ok with 'certain thickness' you mentioned. And i think i can imagine your round shaped knife^^.

Great to see your back making great tutorials again..almost missed your new video..OH NO..any thoughts on using heavy canvas with leather for straps and corners and high use areas for handbags or heavy denim and leather in similar ways to construct a handbag..I think those materials have a casual everyday use to them..and develope a patina with use..Have you tried the patina oxidation techniques on natural veg tan yet..Best Wishes my friend..

Hi ! Great to see you here~ and also i was surprised to know that you have a similar idea on leather bag and denim. I still keep my old jeans and shirts with gorgeous pattern for that purpose. I thought about it for the design. I think that is great idea. More flexible than leather so useful. And i haven't used that technique yet^^. Thank you for watching my content!! I wish you always well and happy!

You cut so straight… I’m amazed at how straight of a line you can cut without using a straight edge…
