I look forward to your thoughts about the choil spur on the ricasso impinging into the comp lock cutout. I was surprised that design flaw was not addressed before the knife went to market. It doesn't bother me too much because I am in the habit of tapping the blade spine on closing to assure myself that the detent has caught. Thanks for the good disassembly video.
NICK!!! U need to check out the new 2018 ZT knives! There’s three of them and they’re gorgeous, especially the 0393 and the 0609 and I guarantee you’ll like them!!!! And also the 0393 has the hinderer customizability with the scales.
Nick, my lil native has a black DLC coating. I'm having problems with the blade being really stiff to open/close. Does this have anything to do w/ the coating? The stainless steel version seems to drop fall shut and I'm looking for that. Thanks for any help.
Been thinking about getting a smaller sized spyderco. Now I know you're a chaparral fan..... as am I lol, but leaving the chaparral aside which would you choose from this list of options the little native, the urban, the dragonfly or finally the ukpk? Which would you choose to spend more time with for say general light tasking???
Hey nick. I couldn’t get mine out. The washer and pivot. It’s stuck there. Also if you tighten all the screws tight does it stop the action or is mine bad.
I'm not sure that washer logic checks out. The angular displacement between the blade and the liners during opening is always the same, and the normal force on each side of each washer is the same regardless of whether or not the washer turns or not. The amount of (displacement) x (force on the washer surfaces from the blade or liners) should be the same regardless of whether the washer spins or stays stationary, and that is what should determine the wear rate of the washer.
I think I would still go with the Native 5 lightweight... Better steel... S35VN was designed as an upgrade over the old S30V that has been around since the early 90's... IMHO the backlock... though not as "sexy" as the compression lock... is stronger coupled with the excellent FRN handle makes it a really good EDC knife...
You can! Not only that, but LynchNW makes a fantastic replacement clip for it that is WAY better than the stock wire clip. I usually like Spyderco clips but this one REALLY missed the mark..
Anybody else not impressed with what they have seen on BladeHQ youtube of knife manufacturers at shot? Nothing really caught my eye but not complaining because that will save me some money this year. Even the new ZT Hinderer. G10 overlay?? Just use CF. And Spyderco? Nothing!!
People who throw in a random T6 screw when every other screw is the same, larger, and looks fine for the knife proportions should result in that designer needs to get random kicks to the nuts.
"this is knife" - This sort of rampant intellectualism is why I am happy to be a subscriber.
Today my WE knife 620 arrived and I am freaking happy! Why am I telling you that? None of my friends is a knife guy and so no one is happy with me :(

Yess, a disassembly vid means a full Nick review vid is close behind. Can't wait.
No time to watch, but I can always listen in to Nick's smalltalk..
Hey nick, could you review and disassemble a WE knives 703?

you can't remove the screw on the other side, I tried. I send the knife back, did not like it at all.
"This is knife!" Words that ring more true hath verily been spoken not.
Lil native vs para 3 plz
still trying to make a decision on this or the Manix...
poisonousnut I don't have this but the Manix is my favourite. So much so that I got the M4 version.

Well that was a fast turn around from picking up the knife to review
Can anybody tell me what torx bit the pivot is, thx!
Anyone know if removing the pocket clip affects the handle ? Can you take the clip off ??

@@erikcrouch7881 thanks mate . Ended up getting one .. love it .. 💪🏼
What do people think about just using mineral oil for the pivot?
It'll run a bit slower, but it will work.
What are you using to clean with the q tips? And the stuff you apply to the screws?
Kenji Miwa isopropyl alcohol to clean, blue lock Tite for torx screws
