- This VERY Small NYC Apartment might be too tight for most people. That being said its also “affordable” to most renters however comfort isnt part of the deal. Would you live here?

Great news! If you make a purchase from any link above, my channel earns a small affiliate commission from the site.
If the best thing you can say about a $3000 apartment is that it doesn't have any mold... that's pretty damn sad.
It’s a terrible apartment.
I'm betting other apartments in that building don't look that clean. They spruce up the ones they know will be videoed.
Touché. Lmao😂
@@karyndewit193 100% shit holes! Living in either apartments would be hell!
@@ryanjofre I agree. It makes me appreciate my big house.
I truly cannot imagine surviving in an apartment as small as this in the event of another lockdown. I feel claustrophobic watching this vid. And for 3 grand??
I agree. Too too much.
in Europe this is a normal, decent size apartment. The price is crazy tho.
well, maybe in the UK, but definitely nog in The Netherlands or Germany...
It was pretty sad but the building is so filthy.
Agreed... I'm not feelin' it AT ALL.
Love it when you show us round the area as well with all the lovely shops and restaurants.
You would make a great business selling property. You are extremely talented and well spoken. Keep safe on all your travels young man .x
I have to say the BEST WORD you used that describes both apartments is..."UNINSPIRING" Cash. Another 2 places that you have to go outside to change your mind. And, that 20 foot hallway in the first place makes no sense whatsoever. From an architectural perspective that first place is a dumpster fire. Whoever designed it should be FORCED to live in it lol. The only pluses I can see is that the neighborhood is right around the corner from the Meat Packing District, so you can party you cares away with the nightlife when the department depresses you lol. Carry On...
that first one looks depressing af
I love watching these videos just to see the absolutely insane prices people are being expected to pay for absolute shit holes. How anyone affords to live in NYC is beyond me. This place should be $400 at the absolute most. That being said, I do enjoy your positive spins on these absolutely terrible places.
Why live in an expensive garbage can when no one has to
Positive spin? More like spouting BS so some sucker rents it and gives him thousands in commission.
You can't get an apartment anywhere for $400.00 anymore. Maybe 30 years ago...
It's expensive to live in a "shit hole" anywhere these days.
Wow! The building went from sixteen apartments to thirty-six apartments. NYC landlords are so greedy. 🤑
It's a Greedy Slum Lord concept to squeeze more money out of a unacceptable room with a stove and door. The fact the gas meters are in the apartment, makes me nervous about carbon dioxide issues if there is a gas leak among other things.
True greedy idiots - I lost respect for Chase for showing this. Crap rather than reporting it.
Luckily, one would be able to smell the gas before the level got too high!
It kills me becuase all they had to do was renovate the 16 apartments and charge $5k/month…you never win when you play dirty
@@missbae_ if the apartments were rent controlled, if you split them, they are considered new apartments, so they are no longer rent controlled. That’s the real reason this gets done.
In the first apartment, the walkway at the front door looks like the Wrestlemania entrance ramp Just practice your inner Ultimate Warrior and run down every day back & forth
Lol
The area around the apartment is very important to me... I'm so happy you always give a tour of the neighborhood...this time the neighborhood is much nicer than either apartment... I think the first apartment may be illegal... thanks Cash
That first one is a dungeon! So the building originally had sixteen normal sized, livable units? Chop, chop, chop! Second one? Much nicer, but on the sixth floor and no elevator? Nope! And no laundry room?
I sometimes get tired of my small city in the middle of Ohio, paying property taxes, nothing fancy to do until I see apartments like that. Then I remember how grateful I am for 2k sq feet and a yard.
99 percent of the apartments he shows in almost every building used to be twice the size and were all chopped up to double or even triple the amount of apartments to rent out, that is why you see soooo many oddly shaped apartments with pipes everywhere and strangely shaped rooms that seem to make no sense it should be illegal! And then on top of all of that nonsense they double or triple the rents from what they were when they were twice the size! It’s disgusting and these landlords should be shut down. And for all the landlords out there saying they need to make a profit then do it the right way and don’t have a drug dealers mentality chopping up apartments like your chopping up the coca.
Han Dynasty is the spot in that area! Also the interesting thing is, that building is where Artichoke used to be, right across the street
I support Cash's channel 100%. Very talented and entertaining real estate guy. Awesome content! But the 1ST apartment...HELL NO!!😆😆
Again…. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!
"living room". I didn't see a living room in either of these apartments. Love that wicked long hallway....at least they didn't stick the door at the apartment end and gave all the space (whatever is usable) to the tenant. I don't miss living in these weird little setups. For NYC? These places are reasonable and fun. Who doesn't want to live with weird pipes going through all over their place?
I guess one need to be drunk to start seeing living rooms there.
I've never seen a more narrow hallway. How would you carry groceries 😂😂
Or a couch...oh wait!! Theres no room for a couch.
@@reighn80 omg! Yes. Like how would you even move in 😂😂
Very carefully. 🤣
And if you had a little two-wheel wagon to drag a groceries in with you probably wouldn't even be able to bring it through the hallway!
I really enjoy your videos cash .
It was lovely to see your family on one video as well . God bless you .
You have one of the best channels on UA-cam. Fans from UK 🇬🇧
Cash, your idea of clean and my idea of clean are worlds apart 😂
I agree lol
Absolutely loving the neighbourhood tours awesome !! to be able to reach the stove from the bathroom is an absolute health hazard and in Australia it would be illegal to have the bathroom so close to a food prep area. I can't imagine it would be leagal in the states due to the health hazard it's ridiculous.
Shun, I just want to say thank you for carrying me through the illness and unexpected loss of my mother. You carried me through by being a great distraction.
Here's a useless piece of trivia: Artichoke Pizza was originally located in the building with the apartments shown 328 E 14 ST - in the now-vacant store on the right side. It moved across the street when there was a big fire here around 2016 (I think?)
You're humor is savagely hilarious...just can't stop watching your vids and I have no plans to move to NYC, ever!!!
Artichoke pizza sounds so good right now!
That fire escape is dangerous. There is literally no room to walk to get to the stairs to actually escape. Imagine if it was a actual fire and a lot of ppl are trying to escape and panicked and they have to hop not to fall off the side of the building trying to get to those stairs. It would slow everyone down trying to get to the stairs extremely carefully. Should be criminal. I could never live there if they even think that’s safe.
You do a great job selling these creepy Apartments! Great Job!!!
The first one: long hallway--waste of space, cost $1,000.00 monthly; also pipes need coverings, bathroom definitely too small, window in kitchen inviting intruders to make themselves at home. The second one: all the pipes needs coverings, bathroom and kitchen cross contamination areas (bathroom door right at the stove!).
Every time Cash shows places like this I click my heels together and say, "There's no place like home! There's no place like home!".
I think Cash should rename his channel to "Hey NYC department of Housing shut this place down".
The "seat of achievement" 😆🤣💀 Cash and his little tidbits of hilarious knowledge roflmao! I actually kind of like the first apartment but I don't think I could live there more than 2-3 weeks without going utterly insane from claustrophobia. And three grand for that should be good cause for that landlord to spend his life in a prison cell since he likes tiny rooms with pipes. The second apartment was nicer and seemed to have a little more room and was cheaper. I always wanted a NY apartment with a fire escape for some reason but, living in California, everything has more room...I don't think I could handle being stuck in a tiny place in a massive concrete jungle. They're so small that I couldn't live there long anyway with KFC around the corner...I'd eat so much I wouldn't fit inside after a few months lol.
Went from 16 to 36 units??? WOW
Your optimism is amazing ! Your just a glass half full kind of guy . This living room is kinda small but it can work , as you see a small eat in kitchen :)
6:46 turn the refrig to open toward the window, then put a Wayfair Diamondback 43'' Wide Rolling Kitchen Island Set w/2 stools next to the fridge. BTW, refrigerator doors can be changed how they open.
Hey, Cash! It's the hall-way from "The Shining"! As someone else has commented, it was originally 16 apartments ,which have now been chopped up into 32 apartments.. which x-plains the 20 ft. use-less hall-way. There is absolutely no room in the so-called living area. The gas pipes are down-right scary. Oh, goody, the local serial killer will have access to your windows via the fire-escape. That chopped up bath-room is something else. Cord resting on the heater? And the land-lord will have the nerve to charge $3,000.00 + electricity + utilities for this hell-hole! Apartment No. 2 is only slightly better. That's a 'charming' feature to be able to check on the oven when you're in the bath-room! Not only that, but I think you could sit on the toilet while using the wash basin. No balcony so you can really feel like you're in prison. Sleepless in Toronto
I don’t think I could ever get used to these NYC apt. The #2 apt is better than the first, that was horrible.
From an european perspective their priorities are weird (so many closets evne the big kitchens aren't aesthetic to me).
I haven't seen any garbage bag holders under the sink in his videos. Is this simply not a thing? This is standard where I come from. The same goes for the soap dispenser holders, toothbrush glasses holders and a bar to hold onto in the bathtub. Also no bar to put towels in most of his videos.
$3000 for a shit-hole...
$2850 for a smaller-but-somewhat -nicer shit-hole...
Twin bed might not be the only option in the small bedroom, if there is enough clearance, could get a double loft bed in there and that would yield more floor space.
Second apartment is same layout as one last week.
Personally, l’d use a Day Bed (Wooden) with a the longer “Head Board” built with Shelves to serve as my nightstand. You could also get a Murphy Bed. 😊
@@janedoe805 The Ikea Stora loft bed would leave a considerable space underneath that could be utilised with desk and possibly shelves or drawers too. Or alternatively a futon and TV with a dresser somewhere in the room. Having the bed taking up minimal floorspace is a good thin in such a tiny room.
3000 dollars for this! You have got to be kidding!
Poor Cash. You did a great job trying to gild these turds and we appreciate it.
I'm sure I would've liked any of the original sixteen apartments which were twice the size or more and probably cost about 1/10th of these abominations.
The first apartment you could use one of the rooms for a dinning room / living room and the other as a bedroom. That would not be so bad.
Can we appreciate the mealz transition 🔥😄🔥😄
Love your tours and the quirky sense of humor. It's much needed in times like these. I'm looking forward in another 4 years to possibly move out of Texas so you might have persuaded me to consider moving to New York. The wages are higher there I see.
This building use to have a pizzeria at the bottom and it caught on fire... The landlord was still trying to collect rent after the hole building was set into flames, my friend moved out real quick...
Your the man for rentals from long pond Pennsylvania tito
My former appartment in Athens Greece was 20 square meters: 215 square feet, and it was beautiful ❤️
In Ohio we call those apartments a "dump"
@itsahobbee - FACTS!
I’ve been to union square a zillion times and not noticed some of these places! Can’t wait to check them out!
Two heat pipes in the wall. I think those are drains cuz that gas meter would heat the place. Or heat water that would run through that white radiator
Dude, respect Unregular Pizza - it's amazing!!
That 1st apartment is very disappointing. You'd have to put a small table and 2 chairs in the common area and just chill and watch TV in your own bedroom. Or one person could rent it and make one of the bedrooms into a livingroom/den.
Better off buying an iPad and watching TV from there with how little that space was. All for the cheap price of 3k 😂😂😂
@@DailyRants89 😂
Hi Cash and to your friends I am sad to hear no one wants to rent this small apt. In NYC. If it’s affordable then it would be great to rent. Stay well and safe 👍
They somehow turned 16 Apartments into 32? The long hallway and weird layout of the first apartment must be the result of that 🙄🙄
Greedy owners and landlords created these monstrosities.
I bet these were all decent sized 2 or 3 beds at one stage.
hey Cash bad news for all the gas stoves in nyc apartments - A federal agency says a ban on gas stoves is on the table amid rising concern about harmful indoor air pollutants emitted by the appliances.
I guess in the 1st place you could make one of the bedrooms your living room but then you have the whole rent to pay yourself.
yeah and pay 3k for a hole nice job
Thrift stores are great, it is a fantastic way to reuse and recycle the older furniture was built far better to most of todays unless you can afford the best
In today’s market .
After watching hundreds of these reviews, I've realized my favorite part is when you say "cawfeee"...😁
The neighborhood is super grungy. Reminds me of 1970s movies filmed in NYC showcasing the grit and despair of city life. Oh I had a front row seat at that time. The apartment is awful.
The first apartment = desperation. 😫
16 original units and now 36? That tells you ALL you need to know about NYC landlords. The gas line and meter are truly horrifying. A person can do so much better for $3K. Ridiculous.
Looks like the size of most Italian dwellings in most poorer town, but there is charm to those places with shops nearby…. It’s not American standard, but it’s doable for one person and maybe a cat
Cash always let's us know about the neighborhood.
Id love to see you do 129 West 81st Street. Seinfelds apartment from the show 😊😊😊
Chopped up railroad rooms, that's all this is. I thought that was a bowling lane when you walked into that first apt. I was looking for the pinsetter machine at the end of the hallway.......damn. $3K ???? No comment.
The first one would work for two people if they were a couple and used one bedroom, and turned the other bedroom into a living room. There's even cable in one of them.
I'm addicted to your videos (west coast Canada). Even if some of the titles aren't 100% accurate I can't stop watching. "I wish I could quit you!" LOL. ...And now apparently I know my way around New York. 😄
Maybe turn fridge facing the sink area.
You feed at KFC you have to make sure the bathroom at your house is empty of people
That hallway is so strange 😮 longest hallway in the whole city.
That Apartment Is A Crime Scene NO WAY DANGEROUS 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
That long a*ss hallway is how you turn 16 apartments into 32 apartments.
I would totally live in that first apartment affordable and I'm not paying more to where I live than what I earn I would totally move there no problem it's not that bad better than being homeless that's for sure
Sheesh Glad I live in Atlanta
The first apartment is very, very basic and suitable for a pair of starving students. The second unit has more space but it's a one-bedroom, and if it's a sixth-floor walkup, that's pricey ($2,800) for one person. Ya gotta really love the neighborhood to rent either of these.
how the fuck is a starving student gonna pay 3k or 1.5k month each for that hole?
7:10 . . . No SINK SPRAYER ! 💀🇺🇲
I pity those who have to settle for these housing conditions.
I don't see anything that NYC has to offer that makes it worth living like this.
The first apartment should be illegal. 😮. Every adult cannot sleep on a twin bed. The second apartment is a little better but both are a no for me.
I have lived in Manhattan all my life. Union Square is one of the most expensive areas as the nexus of the Village, Chelsea, Flatiron. 14th Street itself is an ugly, ugly street. These particular apartments are not really legal. These are death traps with those exposed natural gas pipes and the long hall to the door.
There's nothing you could do with the living space in the first apt.... You would have to spend all your time in your room...or just work double shifts at your job so you don't have to go home...
no gfci outlet just a normal 3 prong in the kitchen niceee
That place was creepy but someone might like it. Lots to see and do there though
I like the floors... Looks like real wood...
New to the channel. Randomly stubbled on it. I'd definitely live in a small apartment in nyc. But those prices? Daaaaaaang!! I live in BC Canada and i pay $850/mo for a 4brm home with a fenced in yard and a 3min walk from a 4km long beach.
Have to say these apartments are among the worst our friend Cash has ever shown. Small, dumpy and insane rent. Ugh keep on looking.
its amazing the squalor people live in in NYC for the "low low price" of 3k..lol
The first apartment, which will probably list for $3K?! What a joke. Unbelievable.
My bedroom is the bigger than the whole apartment I couldn’t live in a tiny place like this 😬
So they thought they would "double" their money by cutting each original unit in half, then cram in 2 bedrooms. Just WOW. Geniuses. 🤦♀️ Imagine getting food poisoning in these places...
$2,850/mo. One would have to have a salary of $114,000 to not be rent burdened (annual rent less than 30% of the salary, or that the salary is 40x the monthly rent). Classic six-figure-salary closet from Manhattan.
I been to new York 4 times it's wild
You should check out the coffin homes in Hong Kong and these will make you gag for real...these apartment in new york are tiny but compare to the Hong Kong apartment crisis there is no comparison..to each is own really.? I think having a place to live is a blessing 🙌 can you imagine being truly homeless on the streets of NYC in winter ?
Never mention. Gas n electric. Included. Or not. But love your videos. Think you can sell ice cream to a snowman. You have a unique. N great way of. Selling these apts.
When buildings are this bad, makes you wonder why they don’t gut the whole building to the shell and start over.
from a landlord view cutting each original unit in half to make twice the rent is awsome...but from a social point of view its crap
Couldn’t pay me to live there. I always wander why the owner doesn’t even try to make this liveable.
And that first apartment maybe they could move the refrigerator. Maybe even where those pipes were at. But that apartment is weird tho.🤷🏽♀️🙆🏽♀️
It looks like those apartments were subdivided and that is why it was weird.
3K for this? Ugh.
Maybe Bender wants to live there...
The first apt would be ok if you lived alone and used on bedroom as a den.
Lol even my tiny 1 bedroom apartment looks like open plan loft space compared to that
A 2 bedroom with a kitchen so small? and Asking 3,000? Amazing how landlords can get so much money for a tiny space. Would be better for one person and make the second bedroom a living area.
