Good news, today's testing in the PTU confirmed it's fixed. As Yogi mentioned the pip's location is now tied to a ships centre of mass which now makes the tracking the best it's ever been. Exactly! Now you can legitimately expect to have the best hitreg the game has ever had. Because this will be the best the pip has ever been. Even fixing issues with ships like the blade’s pip which has been an issue for years
Just for clarity, this hitreg bug can be recreated under any conditions. Local regions, low ping high ping, huge entities and low entities. High fps and low fps with varying results. Feel free to test it yourselves, you can easily recreate it but keep in mind the fix is in the PTU. Excited to play the game with the new changes to pip tracking.
hey, on the MFDs, you can actually turn them off by setting them to diagnostics, you have to do it one by one so it's a bunch of keybindings , but it is possible
I noticed this at the beginning of 4.0 when doing bunker farming, i was trying to take out bunker turrets with a C1, stock weapons. The pip would claim convergence, however non of the shots would hit unless i moved the aim reticle away from the pip in a direction based on my flight trajectory, making it a really frustrating endeavor. The turrets are pretty feisty nowadays, which is not a problem, turrets being more dangerous is a good thing imho, but not being able to hit without doing something to to "fight" against what should be, whilst getting blasted, is annoying to say the least. But been doing so much FPS that i didn't think about it anymore, interesting to see it was a clear bug and i'll check it out once they fixed it.
This is a great find, and explains some of the lunacy I've encountered. We're likely to see many more of these teething issues surface as systems like armor and component engineering come online.
Glad we have orgs like shadow Moses, who really test the issues that come up with flight combat. Hilarious that A1 launches videos about people cheating in the past but just so happens to run any exploitative ship he can find each patch 😂
Hreat find. Thank you and others who discovered this. I felt there is something off with hit registering, but blamed myself as iIve recently got rusty. Will see after change.
so it wasn't just me who thought something was terribly off with pips... thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for uncovering this, i almost thought i was crazy
Ive noticed a reaccuring issue, when im sat in the cockpit of any ship if i move my mouse -pitch/yaw for me, if i move it to where the mfds are, primarily the middle of the mfd setup, this is whilst flying or even stationary, whilst not holding f to interact with the mfd i have huge lag spikes if i waggle the mouse any direction, huge stutters... The mfds are causing me so many issues.
You know what last night I won the one a arrow and the hip registry was making no sense I literally put the lag pip on each side of the ship and it wasn't registering it was going straight through the ship. Mind you I was staying within 300 to 500 m I won the fight but I would say if those shots would have hit I would have blew up that ship maybe three times over. Good work for pointing this out
Great find, extremely important. Without the community I feel CIG is just stumbling in the dark for some really fundamental issues. Its like Street fighter devs not realizing light punch does no damage.
Ping differences are also playing a big part. My US ORG did a test with me by hoping to an AU server, I had 23ms ping, they were at 200ms+ ping, was night and day difference for me, back to US servers for me and I cannot get consistent hits on target, same goes for FPS.
Tested PTU fix last night. Hit reg and ttk felt better, but my overall performance was horrible. Averaged 20 to 30 less frames at Jericho than in the 4.0 preview build. Hopefully it's just a PTU thing.....
I have taken a break from Star Citizen and I am happier. Until major QOL, performance and gameplay updates are introduced I don't see myself playing anytime within the next month or 2. CIG needs to get their stuff together.
7:16 that 5090 isn't going to help. Yeah, you might get "high frames" but 3/4 of them are AI (when using frame gen) and that will not reflect on the game, just the screen. Along with the cards rasterization being worse than a 4070, there will be little to no improvement (might even be worse depending on your current card)
People thought ships was the pay to win 😂😂😂 Turns out it was your PC all along that was pay to win. I've been screaming since 4.0 dropped. These types of bugs caused you to fly differently since all you can do is try to apply any damage. So many fights decided by broken game. I've got a video shooting a Gladius already lost a wing and sitting still with my pip green, crosshair green, very close to that ship but no hit reg. I just hate how broken this "competitive" game is in year 13. By the way, massive shield holes in PTU, FPS also bad. The only thing worth training atm is up close positional fights. Good on you for making the video. The sooner more people know these types of things the better.
Wait so all the people placing small racing ships and 'tiny speedsters' at the top of pvp meta thought they were evading shots but they were actually just abusing a broken pip?
Damn, i gues me taking out the Razor for fun because of how fed up i got with the F7A bankrolling everyone else in AC actually had an impact. Lol Make light fighters good again. Or rather, make each archetype better balanced with their benefits and drawbacks. Light fighters should be able to still compete in a fight rather than just doing high speed passes and relying on Nav mode luck to get out alive.
I’ve been saying this for a while, but there was something wrong and my shots weren’t landing, but people would just say issue and stop complaining. I knew something was wrong.

I have had this problem in my 325a also. 2 M5a cannon the revenant and a full load of size 2 and 3 missiles and a CO mustang was still in the fight.
Thanks for figuring this out and posting the update.
This is great news. Thought i was going insane in some combat situations, nothing were registering.

Same here. Some ships seemed to be getting hit but it was taking FOREVER to take them out.

A big 07 for your group's testing and analysis for this. Shadow Moses has identified the biggest dogfighting technical issue of this patch.
I noticed this at the beginning of 4.0 when doing bunker farming, i was trying to take out bunker turrets with a C1, stock weapons.

I used to be able to kill a turret with 4 hits from a size 3 missile, but now they seem all but impervious to missiles.
This is a great find, and explains some of the lunacy I've encountered.

Very excited with the new focus on fixing issues like this for 2025. With server meshing here now the expectation is a close to finished product
You know theres a reg problem when the racing ships, snub fighters and arrows make their appearances.
@@watermelon58 think they’re going to fizzle out if hit reg is back

Good job everyone involved in testing and fixing this! ❤

What a crazy bug. I knew something felt off…especially in atmosphere. Cant wait for the new tier list! lol
I notice that by switching my pip to lag, this problem isn't as common.

How does this affect the LAG pip?
Well this explains a lot, is good to know I wasn't crazy and something was very wrong lol
Great find, extremely important. Without the community I feel CIG is just stumbling in the dark for some really fundamental issues. Its like Street fighter devs not realizing light punch does no damage.
funnily enough there was a bug in a recent modern fighting game where a super does no damage if the opponent has 1 hp
You do know we all paid to be game testers right?
was going to say, what about using lag pips instead of lead pips, same issue?

Yes, I thought the pip was messed up in my Guardian and this isn't surprising news. I couldn't confirm it though.
Didn't jonathan winters make a video about this 9 days ago?
Will the M50 still be S Tier after this is fixed?
No way

How can a meta return if it never left. 😅
