  • @ganesunesunaye
    @ganesunesunaye 7 років тому +1

    Dear , The Mileage of Cruise is 42-45 in city and approx 50 Kms on highways, one more thing as the tyre is MRF Zapper... the best tyre after Michelin... Earlier I had Bajaj Discover the first tyre run about 44000 Kms and thereafter I had purchased MRF Zapper and it is still usable... the total kms covered more than 87000 Kms.... one more thing Zapper is more reliable than any other tyre even in rainy season or wet roads....

    Thanks for the review brother. I'm also planning to buy a new bike shortly and Bajaj Avenger Street 220 is on my hit list as well.
    Just on another note, I really like Avenger Street 220, for its looks and style, and obviously the comfort factor. Still I have some issues / doubts in my mind, which I believe only you can clarify as you have rode the bike. Hence, seems you would be able to answer these queries in detail. I'm looking for the answers from your personal experience of driving this bike, if you personally faced any of theses issues / any other challenges for the same.
    Please find below :
    1. The rear drum break is weak and having less power, considering that this is a 220cc bike. Many have identified that a rear disc break is a must for the bike. Did you personally feel that or any such situation / incident happened to you, where you found lack of the stopping power of a disc break or missed it in the bike.
    2. The self start - kick start issue has been there around for quite a while now and several riders are complaining about bike not getting started with self start and kick start is much needed. Did you face any challenges regarding this while riding yourself.
    3. I have seen / heard from number of riders that avenger has a longer Wheelbase as well as it's turning radius is also more and there are issues of skidding of this bike while riding during monsoons or wet roads. How far do you think, there is truth in this. Is it safe as commuter bike in that case to ride with family including a kid. Any personal experience would be great here.
    4. Single channel ABS is fine, but dual channel seems better for this kind of bike for more powerful breaking. What's your take on this ?
    5. Fuel efficiency could be another challenge here.
    I'm just expecting the answers gathered from your own riding experience, so that, it would be useful for me to make up my mind for final decision and to be prepared accordingly considering all these facts / aspects of the bike to manage it better. Awaiting your reply on this.
    Thanks in advance brother. 🙂

      Thankyou so much bro.Well yeah I could have easily done separate videos for the bikes but all are mostly 98% same,only thing is that with the cruise & street cosmetic changes have been incorporated.Nothing substantial has been done in relation to engine capacity or performance but all are value for money.

    • @estkaushalriderz7109
      @estkaushalriderz7109 7 років тому

      Got ur point brro..But plz let me know one more thing...Is it good to go for some modification in my bike as I have heard peoples saying don't go for it now else no warranty will be applicable...I want to get Louder Horn as in Delhi the stock horn is something that nobody cares :-p And haan the headlight is not that bright...Plz suggest!

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому +1

      I personally have given my bike for servicing to the bajaj service centre only 3 times in 6 years, rest of the times I've done it from outside. If that warranty is a cause of concern for you then you wait till that expires and then start modifying it.Try to keep the bike stock in the beginning for a year year..however if the headlight or horn is troubling u a lot then get them upgraded, dont think too much..

    Riding avenger since 2006
    Pehle 180cc wali thi mere pas
    Last year i replaced it with new 220 street
    Bhai agar iska weight km kia to iska stability wali khasiyat khatam ho jaegi jo ap bol rhe ho ki balanced rehti h its all because of wait and design and engine placement
    This bike is superb. Ride it for few days and you wont leave.
    I dont enjoy any of the bike i hv driven.
    But yeah isko chalane k bad me cruiser bikes ka fan hu
    Last year 220street lene se pehle mene boht socha ki avenger lu ya renegade
    Finally ended up purchasing same bike
    And its more good now

      Couch on Wheels Good you didn't purchase Renegade. Avenger is a very reliable bike and yes the stability will be compromised if weight is reduced.Even I like the bike the way it is in stock condition but I only wished for a bigger engine displacement in the new ones.

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому +1

      Pritam bhadane 220 is better anyday because I think it's optimumly powered for city traffic and decent enough for highway riding.150 is better if you are too concerned about the mileage but you will have to compromise on power.Also long rides will feel better on the 220 than the 150. Best thing to do is to take a test ride of both, preferably on the highway,you will notice the difference instantly.

    Everything is good, but I don't know about fuel economy. I have street 220..in my city (KOlkata), it gives me 38 km/L . I traveled from Kolkata to Delhi, via Jharkhand. Then I went to Punjab, Rajasthan, HImachal and came back. So, total 6000 km, and I tell you on highways, it gives me 52 km/L
    I don't like its pick up. Probably I was traveling with more than 20 Kg, so I couldn't just accelerate, but it can reach easily 120 km/h. you need to be very careful while turning, especially on sharp mountain turns or any other. It doesn't have that flexibility like sports or semi-sports cycles.
    I like the grip of those tyres. Twice had to use my front disc break because of sudden emergency and the cycle didn't fall.

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому

      +shubhajit chakraborty Yeah a lot depends on the riding style to extract the best mileage but it's really nice that you have travelled so much with it

    Will it suit to person of height 5 11? Please do reply

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому +1

      What I would suggest is to take a test ride( not a short one but a long one,atleast 30km) because that's probably the only way by which you will come to a decision and if aesthetics are your concern then you can ask your friend to click your pictures on the bike,then you can judge more easily.It all depends on personal comfort bro but there are many people with that height who ride it comfortably or some with a few minor adjustments to the foot pegs and seat foam.Hope it helps.

    Very nice video. Thanks a lot! I’m researching for upgrading from P220 which I have been riding since 5+ years and I love every moment of it. I have done 60,000 Kms on it. But those were the younger days. Now my wife complains of vibrations and back aches. So I’m gonna make the switch with a heavy heart. I am confused because neither of the bikes cruise 220 or sports 220 Avengers have everything I want. I love the cruise but tube tires are the only thing I don’t. Sports does not have the backrest. So in your opinion what should I opt for?

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому +1

      Atif Karbelkar Go for the cruise because the back rest makes a lot of difference. You can make back rest modifications to the Avenger street later on but both cruise and street are basically the same underneath.However I feel the cruise is much better for the pillion rider compared to the street and appearance wise also,its one of those bikes you will love to get waxed and polished,with all the chrome shining.Truly gives off a rich look.

    U didnt explained much about street and cruise. I am a daily commutter.. often likes to ride long. Confused between avenger and duke 200. My main concern is ergonomics of byke.. Which one would be better for me...pls reply

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому +1

      Hi Satheesh well basically cruise, street and the old avenger all have the same 220 cc dtsi engine. The difference between all of them is minor. The Street is a little bit lighter in weight and the handle bar is shorter in length for taking better turns and cuts. The new avengers also have slightly more refined engines than the earlier avengers. If you are the kind of person who wants to take the bike for long rides then any of the Avengers will be a very good choice. I myself have done some touring on the Avenger and , it's a very durable and comfortable bike compared to the duke.Duke 200 is basically a very good bike for short distances as the fuel tank capacity is quite less compared to the Avenger and also the engine is tuned in such a way that it's a high performance engine, plus there are issues of the tyres and all that other maintenance . Maintenance wise duke is more expensive than avenger .So I hope this helps.

      hey sorry for the late reply, highway par mujhe 40-42 ke aas paas milte hai. Aapke chalane ke upar hai. Long ride ke liye bht achhi bike hai, comfortable hai. Power bhi thik thak hai lekin ek extra gear hota to aur perfect ho jaati highway pe. Lekin overall yeh bike ek complete package hai aur reasonably priced hai. Value for money.

      Delowar Hossain yes definitely you can buy it, actually Mumbai has a lot of bad roads too and 50% of the time I have to ride on such roads. Riding in traffic is also easy because the bike has a low seating and taking turns is also quite easy.

      @SwapyBond  6 років тому

      check karna padega :-D lekin 8 saal se hai yeh bike mere paas, maintenance ka toh pehle 3-4 saal toh nahi ke barabar, bs time pe engine oil change karo. Main toh 7-8 mahine mei ek baar change karta tha. Baaki tyre change karne ka tension nhi,bht zyada tikte hai. Ek time ki servicing ka kharcha 1400-1500 pakdo, agar Motul ka engine oil daaloge toh, nahi toh aur saste mei hoga. Lekin maine sirf Motul 5100 15w50 use kiya hai isme baaki koi halka oil try mat karo.

However I have used it a lot off road .You can check my playlist -Incredible India : villages and forts ..ive 8 videos in that about my trip to Raigad, there I did a lot of off roading. Also the roads are so bad in Mumbai but still it performs well.

    Hey buddy, I need your help on a problem
    I bought my 220 Cruise about 3 months ago, I topped up the fuel tank the very same day and parked it on the side stand upon bringing home. The next morning I noticed that a large amount of fuel leaked, and was actually leaking from the bottom edges, near the rubber of the chrome fuel tank cover (Or whatever it's called). The problem was rectified when I parked the bike on the main stand. I ignored the problem for a while and the same thing happened again after about a month, when I got the tank topped up. It was leaking fuel in the same way, and the problem was getting rectified upon parking on the main stand. I finally took it to the BAJAJ Service Center but they said that it was normal if the tank is filled to the brim. I was still not very convinced with the answer as the bike isn't supposed to leak excessive fuel in this way, there's a overflow pipe for that purpose! Though they still ignored my query and said that it was normal.
    From then onwards I never got the tank filled with more than Rs.500/- of petrol, and the problem never occurred again. But the major issue is that the tank reaches that level from empty with just about Rs.600/- (8ltrs.) of petrol, and the leakage occurs if even about a litre more fuel is added. I just wonder what's the case, how can it be a 17.5 litres tank if it starts overflowing with just about 8 litres.
    Please throw some light on this topic.

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому +2

      +Not A Vlogger oh ok..well yes you should not park this bike on the side stand for long periods of time, especially when there is a lot of fuel in the tank. I had faced the same issue initially as I used to park it on the side stand but it never happened when I started parking it on the main. The only time I get the tank full is before going on a long trip on it. However for daily use wherein I ride it for 1 hour per day,I keep it half filled. It's just the way the tank has been designed which causes it to leak if the bike is on the side stand. Always use the main stand, you can put it on the side stand also but only when its less than half full and for shorter stops. Not a major issue :-)

    • @randomhrithik
      @randomhrithik 7 років тому

      Thanks a lot bro! But don't you think Bajaj should take steps to rectify this issue? After all it's the matter of trust of so many customers! 😑

    Did you use recommended Tyre pressure.. It is mentioned 21psi for front and 25 psi for rear tyre.( without pillion) ??

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому

      salil Sinha Initially I abided by the recommended air pressure for 2-3 months but after that I started with 25 psi for front and 28 psi for rear, I think the recommended pressure is too less

    • @salilsinha457
      @salilsinha457 7 років тому

      I had kept the pressure at recommended level for pillion i.e. 25 psi for both front and back for one and a half year(5k Kms). I have noticed that this pressure keeps breaking more stable and Bajaj might had recommended it keeping safety in mind for this long base bike. But during a puncture repair, I noticed tubes having strong impression of Tyre on its surface...indicating higher deformation due to low pressure. I switched to little higher side. Now I keep 25/28 psi during dry season and 23/25 during rainy season.

    Swapy I am sorry...I really like ur vids but this time without even watching I'm gonna say from first hand experience of owning an Avenger cruise 220 ..
    .pls people its a shit bike of Bajaj don't invest ur money in cruise or street 220.U know I was getting 27-30/ka mileage which was still OK but comparatively power was not that great and even clutch plates needed replacement after 3.9k....and any time vehicle goes into pothole straight impact is to the spine....very bad ride.

    • @SwapyBond
      @SwapyBond  7 років тому +1

      Kit Walker No problem bro, I know some people may have a different experience. However it's really weird that you needed clutch plate replacement after 3.9k ,that usually never happened with anyone I know. Talking about suspension and going through potholes, well you can ride any cruiser and you will notice that all are almost the same,they cannot raise the height of suspension as it was built to have a low centre of gravity. About power , well I said in the video that it's sufficient enough for crowded cities like Mumbai. However it's not powerful enough for highways if high speed is the criteria. Also at higher speeds it vibrates lesser than bullets. For less than a lakh ,I think it's a good bike for daily commuting also. Anyways it's unfortunate that you had a bad experience on it.

    • @kitwalker2103
      @kitwalker2103 7 років тому

      Swapy Bond - The Biker I dont know maybe owning a Uni for 9 years probably raised my expectations for a Bajaj bike...anyways I sold it within 5 months of purchasing it...I only feel bad as the guy to whom I sold it to within 1.9 kms had to replace the clutch plates and pay from his pocket as it was not covered under warranty and that person had used Avenger 180 for 8 years so he is an experienced rider. Bajaj had only made some cosmetic changes all that talk about improved cdi was all crap..anyways my 2 cents
