That there is such a distinction, & that most Christians take it for granted, is shown by the fact that most Christians have historically, & in the present, not thought that (say) speaking Aramaic or Hebrew or Koine Greek was an essential of being a Christian. The fact is, that there are many details that NT Christians, & the earliest disciples, believed or practiced, that later generations of the great majority of Christians have not bothered with. It is difficult to go to the Jerusalem Temple, as Jesus & Paul did, if there is no longer a Jerusalem Temple available to be visited. It is a regrettable reality, that the NT nowhere addresses this distinction. That does not make the question invalid or unreal or irrelevant for later generations of Christians. Long hair for men may have been unthinkable, even unnatural, to St Paul's way of thinking; that is hardly enough to establish that it was, or is, or must be, unnatural for all men, of all times, all nations, all peoples, all cultures, for the entire course of human history. It looks very much as though St Paul was presenting, as a universal & forever valid judgement, a judgement that was valid only within a fairly narrow subset of Mediterranean or Jewish culture. And maybe the same applies to the prohibition on women having a leading part in Christian worship. Are women to avoid worshipping, if there are no men to be had ? If men and women "are all one in Christ", as Paul in Galatians says they are, how can it matter which sex presides over the worship of Christians ?

@ADadSupreme Yes to Question 1. In 1 Tim 2, Paul's commentary on Gen 3 gives two reasons why women should not teach or exercise authority over men. (1) Adam was formed first and (2) Eve was deceived and Adam was not deceived.
Eve's sin is irrelevant. Eve being created after Adam is irrelevant. A Judge could be a man or a woman. A Judge could judge anything. Even the sin of homicide, as stated in Deuteronomy. Deborah. Judges 4 and 5.

The early Christians were not engaged in social reform, nor were they attempting to brazenly flaunt the norms of their day. They were attempting to peacefully carry the gospel of the Lord Jesus to others. So, despite the fact that spiritually there was no difference between men and women, they abided by the norms of the Jewish community when establishing the congregations, using the model that they knew: the synagogue. Today, the Spirit in his work is pouring out wisdom and ability upon women as well as men, and there is no social stigma to women in teaching positions.
@@indigobaloon8091 And he did. But his followers were Jews and abided by Jewish norms as much as they were permitted, going to the Temple or synagogue, while holding their own services on the first day (Sunday). All the earliest Christians were Messianic Jews, and their desire was to convert their fellows. The book of Acts makes this clear.
But Jesus did appear to the women why did he do that? If women were not important? Why would he sit with a dirty women when at the time the rule was to stay away from them????
Scripture doesn't tell us why Jesus chose to do this. Jesus showed mercy to all sinners. It doesn't change that women are not to be pastors or elders. God has given us other wonderful roles.
Jesus made it abundantly clear by this that he also accepted female disciples- not apostles or elders, but disciples, that he's just as concerned for their salvation as he is for men's.
Didn’t say women didn’t have valuable contributions to the church. Only that they can’t be elders. That’s actually a blessing; women do not have to trouble themselves to do men’s work, as God will not hold them accountable to it.
@@mrniceguy8298 given the vagueness of your question, I’ll make some general comments. The qualifications for elders are given in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. In addition, the command for children to obey parents given in Ten Commandments implies parents, which include the mother have an extraordinary duty to faithfully lead their children. Various Proverbs reinforce the value of faithful women.
@@rockhopper01 Sorry for not clarifying my comments. I was asking for a verse that says women won't be held accountable by God because she was doing the man's work.
'Glad you pointed out the egalitarian view that is apostate doctrine. The biblical view is complimentary in scripture, patriarchal. Men are men and women are such; they are supportive of one another accordingly to the Lord. Feminist views, and the pervading culture of aberrant sexual roles are not scriptural regardless of how they twist it. Paul the apostle places the church doctrine as you spelled out in Timothy and Titus. There is a "divine order" in the church. But the word of God throughout reveals this. Thanks for your view.

Jesus did not come to change the law but to fulfil it.
Why is it that you believe when people say women can't x... Then people think they are not important or hating them.
I get your point but this is not a question of what I can't do but a question of what God ordained.
No one is saying women aren’t important. Only that they can’t be elders. Elders are NOT the ONLY important positions in church.
That is why you can do your s**t alone. No women no church.
Didn’t say women didn’t have valuable contributions to the church. Only that they can’t be elders. That’s actually a blessing; women do not have to trouble themselves to do men’s work, as God will not hold them accountable to it.
That’s what you got from this? Jeezus. 🤦🏽♂️
@rockhopper01
which verse that says that?
It amazed me when I discovered that John McCarther endorses women elders, that's shocked me if truth be known
Can you point me to where you heard this? Because I have heard him teach the opposite and his church has no female elders.
@@loiscarteaux9389 I apologise I meant Decons, but still this is wrong also...
@@Wyldfam decon means servant in the Greek. In Roman's 161&2, Paul refers to Phoebe as a servant. Which is where the decon word come from. Women's roles in the early church were to care for the sick, poor, imprisoned, strangers passing through, disciple new converts, instruct children and other women. Then in 1st Timothy 3:11 Paul gives specific qualifications some argue just for wives of deacons not the office of deconess. But Paul did not refer to them as deconesses as the word diakonos has no feminine form.. I don't need a title to do what God has called women to do. Our church does not have decons just elders. I understand your point though, I think the woman's qualifications are way more important Paul lays out in scripture and for me just the privilege of being a servant if Christ is more than enough.🙂 ps I did go to a commentary to study the verses in Roman's.
@@loiscarteaux9389 I do disagree but we will truly find out when we spend eternity with our Lord
He doesn’t.
