    If you click "SHOW MORE" in the description above your be able to see Links to the Tools 🔧🔨🔧 I use. Also Clickable Chapters📋 📙 throughout the video and other Links 🎬 that may be of interest. I've had a few viewers request where they can buy the tools they see in some of my videos but it's not very clear that the "SHOW MORE" tab has a lot of information in that may be of interest. Admittedly the amazon links are associated with me and I would earn a small commission which helps towards keeping the channel funded.

      Thank you. If you watch the new series your see the potential issues with the 1.6 THP and maybe what to watch out for. I'd treat it gently especially with it having a keyless crank so its only friction holding the timing in place. Mine slipped twice before destruction. Be gentle lol I normally pay £80 for 20 litres online when buying a drum.

    Amazing video....im doing my forstoil change on this car so it is very useful.
    Just one thing to mention, which may be not essential. I saw it on another site. Uncrew oil filter, but dont take it out. Then drain oil. Oil should go out from container of oil filter as filter is not closing oil drain...

    What I tend to do with these engines is from the previous oil change you usually have between 0.5 and 1 litre of oil left when iv drained what i can , I put the plug back in and add the spare oil then drain again diluting anything that is left.

      michael williams I wonder why it’s designed this way. Surly you’d have the drain plug on the back of the sump if you were wanting to avoid the sump plug getting knocked on a speed hump. Is there a reason Peugeot wanted some oil left to create a sticky goo to catch bits of metal or something? I have never come across a design like it.

      Have you got a comprehensive diagnostics reader as they are pretty advanced now. I reviewed one last week that really impressed me though the down side was its a subscription one so after a year you really need to buy it again but it gave a huge amount of data to the user. The oil your using is one of the best I do believe. I tend to buy my oil in 20 litre barrels off ebay as it can be cheaper that way but the oil I buy probably isn't as renowned as the Total.

    • @robbune1792
      @robbune1792 Рік тому

      @@CoatsandGaitersI think it would be bottom of oil filter housing, I'm following this guide: "drain plug in the oil filter housing breaks off. This works by the oil filter being screwed down which pushes against the sprung plunger in the oil filter housing which has the drain plug attached to the end of it"

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  Рік тому +1

      if you clean the inside and can see it snapped off inside you may be able to pull it back out with tweezers or maybe a stiff straw on the end of a vacuum cleaners to help pull it up. If its there permanently I guess you would have to cut the plug part off the new filter otherwise it wont fit in. It;s only a drain plug to stop oil going everywhere when you remove the old filter.

    • @robbune1792
      @robbune1792 Рік тому

      @@CoatsandGaiters Ok I see so the plug is on the filter itself, so if I remove the filter I should be able to see if the plug is broken or not? I am actually intending to steer my channel towards the electrical side once I finish this EP6 engine. Hopefully only a few more episodes. I am currently looking at oscilloscopes to help with auto electrics as I's like to cover all the sensors etc. I have just sold my Renault Laguna which had 182,000 reliable miles on so I agree the French cars can be very reliable. I think it's down to how you drive them and how often the oil is changed. Personally in the 1.6 THP I'd be changing that oil every 6,000 miles. It's the oil that kills these modern engines. You might like the series I am doing on the THP teardown. ua-cam.com/video/-fL-R9kShtQ/v-deo.htmlsi=-gNxpkzXAtsqysL1 Part 14 just uploaded tonight.

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  5 років тому +1

      I have found with diesel cars that even after an oil change the oil almost immediately takes on a black appearance. I presume its because inside a diesel its fairly sooty anyway. With a petrol car the oil can look clean almost all the time unless changes have been neglected. Its a good question as I have often been disappointed after changing oil on a diesel, then running for a minute before checking oil level only to see it look black as the ace of spades as if it hadn't been changed.

There are a few videos on UA-cam where people use a slide hammer to pull the sump plug down so all the oil can be drained. Seems odd that Citroen would have designed things this way buy maybe it was to avoid the sump plug getting hit or something so the recessed it. @@Musica001a you normally turn the internal heater to hot, drain the radiator then drain the block as there is normally a coolant drain tap on the engine, ideally flush it all through and reverse flush. Trying to get as much water back out and refill with say a 50/50 mixture, Assuming there would still be clean water in the system from the flush I'd be more generous with the antifreeze to account for this. You might have to remove the thermostat as this will effectively isolate the engine from the radiator.
